I think you are missing a big fact.
All those AddOns are dataminers (*). They build up incredibly large tables to store their incredible number of informations. The AddOns itself do not bloat with every release, but instead your data grows bigger and bigger over time. Therefor the addons consume more and more memory.
Nothing you can do about it, not even with ace ;)
(*) CTRA and TitanPanel are of course exceptions, but they make extensive use of graphics and frames.

Nov 30, 2005Personally I do not really like that approach. It just means that every new post made in the last 6 hours will be marked as "new", no matter if you already read it or not. So it's up to me to remember if I already read a certain comment or not, kinda confusing in my opinion ;)Posted in: General Chat

Possible, but only through code-changes.
If you're considering going with a new forum alltogether hit up Tsujigiri and talk to Nami. It's a forum from my old guild that fell apart, now a general WoW forum. She's a fellow programmer, the forum is her own work. She'd probably be open to sharing space with Ace. I'm her co-admin Global Mod person there.
BTW, everyone here is welcome to hit up Tsujigiri for general WoW-related forum chatter if you want, the more the merrier!
Uhm, I'm sorry to destroy your believes, but that forum is not a genuine work.
Basically it's just a illegaly ripped version of Inversion Power Board 2. And IPB is payware, expensive payware.
Nov 30, 2005I meant the "it's not free" as in "it's not GPL" or any other license which is considered to be "free". But SMF is "free of cost" for both private and business use, just the license they give you is rather proprietary and you may not derive works from their work of course - they are a company which wants to protect their interlectual property.Posted in: General Chat
But still it's "free" as in the meaning of "use it as you see fit as long as you respect our copyright".
Nov 30, 2005Not really. I do not want to give people Karma to rate them. I just want the ability to make notes for me so I can remember _why_ I added them. Perfect would be if the mod modified the friendsframe so the notes directly fit in a new row, rather then having to mouseover every entry when searching for someone special.Posted in: Addon Ideas
Guess I gotta code it on my own ;)

SMF roxxors your boxxors ;)
As already pointed out by some, this is consider rather a "feature" then a bug by phpBB coders. The folks over there are just totally inapt...
SMF aka SimpleMachinesForum is just totally outstanding compared to phpBB. It has all the features you ever wanted in phpBB - and it's free too. Well, not as free as phpBB, but it doesn't cost money at least. It's produced by a company which holds the rights to it, but they only sell the support for it - yet the community support on their site is great.
You should have a look at it.
Nov 29, 2005Hi all,Posted in: Addon Ideas
lately I came to the conclusion that I need an addon that enables me to make notes to certain people I have on my friendslist. It just stroke me that I cannot remember who is who on my list anymore due to the fact that I add a lot of people that have certain very rare (read mc/onyx/bwl epic drop) recipes so I do not need to spam channels for ages to find someone who is capable of making it when I want one made.
I'm rather certain that there was some kind of addon like that around some time ago, but I cannot even find a non-ace version right now.
Is anyone volunteering to make one or do I need to do it myself? ;) I just shiver at the thought of having to make xml files... always hated it, always will hate it.
Does anyone besides consider this helpful at all?
