posted a message on AceLibrary error...?
    Hello there.
This might be a good place to post this. ;)

I recently submitted my first addon to the SVN, using the tips in the "SVN For Beginners" wiki and TortoiseSVN.  I have it set up to grab the libraries automatically from the other Ace2 SVN folders, using the svn:externals property.

I then downloaded the addon again to test it, and received the following error upon logging in -

    <path stuff>/AceLibrary.lua:27: Unexpected symbol near '...'

Visor2 was the only Ace2 mod enabled at the time.  I replaced the AceLibrary.lua file with an older version from another addon, and the error went away.

I just wanted to let any authors of the AceLibrary piece know that I encountered this. Is the '...' syntax a new thing for LUA 5.1 this Tuesday?

    You're welcome, Bryn. :)

I have this in the SVN now too. However, the version of AceLibrary that got pulled in when I committed it is causing an error (unexpected symbold near "..." on line 27) or somesuch. If anyone does grab this copy before Tuesday, you can just overwrite AceLibrary.lua with a copy from another addon and it should work.

Not sure where else to mention this error, so hopefully one of the lib authors reads this thread. *grin*

Yep, from what I've tested so far on the PTR, you can just replace the "Live" Ace2 libraries in the /Libs folder with their TBC equivalents and Visor2 will work just fine in the next patch or on Beta.

I actually did something similar in the past with the script commands in a little .lua file. One thing I noticed though, particularly with the action bars, was that WoW would periodically reset them on its own accord back to their original positions. This is something that Visor/Visor2 overrides with the "Naughtiness Eradicator" functions at the bottom of each of the module files. That's the main reason I went back to Visor, and hence my desire to convert it for WoW 2.0 use.

I followed the instructions on the SVN access page a few days ago - just waiting on the confirmation email now. Glad I could help Dameek.

    Steve is correct.

However, the original Visor did have a separate mod called VisorGUI, which presented a little panel similar to MoveAnything with nudge arrows and such. I tried VisorGUI myself a long time ago, but didn't care for it personally - I guess I like the more precise control that the command line options give.

It seems a lot of people do like the GUI, and rely on it, so that'll be the next thing I add to the Visor2 package. It'll likely be a separate mod again, so folks who just like the command line can keep that lower-footprint w/o the GUI. I can't give a time estimate on this yet, since I have the learning-curve ahead of me still for designing frames and GUI parts and such.

The action buttons are a bit beyond my level of expertise at the moment, so I don't personally plan to add them in the near future. Once I get this on the SVN, someone else out there might take it up adding the action buttons (though if I remember correctly, Visor and VisorActionButtons were actually 2 separate but related mods).

I know Flexbar has been Ace2'd.  That might be worth checking out as well.

Regarding your old settings - if you cut out the stuff from the Visor.lua SavedVars WITHIN the

    ["framesDB"] = { .... } table

(where the .... is, basically) you should be able to paste it into the

    ["frames"] = { .... } table

in the Visor2.lua SavedVariables and have your settings carry over. Remember though that all of the action button, texture, button text and backdrop parts of the original Visor are not yet included in this version.  I did this with my old settings and it worked ok, but I don't have anything fancy like the visor action buttons or textures, etc.

You might need to actually create a profile first to initialize the database in the SavedVar file. Or what you could do is just temporarily hide the PlayerFrame (/vz set f=PlayerFrame h=TRUE) and log out. That should force it to create the structure for you to paste your old settings in.

Visor2 just uploaded today on WoWInterface... looks like an early version with alot of features still planned/needed but it's Ace2'd.

    Yeah, that was me. ;)
From what I'm seeing so far, the GUI is the next bit I should start work on.

I have the feeling you and "Tenge" on wowinterface are two different persons converting visor to ace2 now?

Oh wow, they got that up fast.
No, it's the same person. (see my sig below) :)

I'd recommend using http://wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=6307 instead. I uploaded it twice (the 2nd time into a more appropriate category). I'm going to be maintaining the one at this URL.

I need to do some research now on how to get access to drop this on the SVN.

    Progress is good so far.

I have the movement/scaling/nudge/keybindings functionality working on the PTR.  Thankfully, the great majority of Tain's old string parsing and Blizzard-API code works w/o much modification.  The biggest changes are the new command structure with AceConsole, the AceDB changes and a few sticky points re: LUA 5.1 vs 5.0.  With a bit of digging into the Prat code, I figured out how to mimic the multiple modules using AceModuleCore.

Things still-to-do include the "hide", "alpha" and a few others, but with my current code I've been able to fully replicate my simple Visor setup on Live using this new "Visor2" on the PTR. :)

I want to pretty-up the command line options before releasing an "alpha" version.  I also love the profiles feature in AceDB.  Works like a champ right out of the box.

First post on these forums, so "Greetings" everyone. ;)

I'm entirely new to LUA coding, but have been an Ace/Ace2 fan for quite some time.  Since there's been little other interest expressed in converting my much-beloved Visor, I've decided to use this project as my avenue to venture into Ace2 mod'ing.  With that in mind, I can't say -when- this will be finished, but after a few 3-4 hour sessions (and the much-helpful "Welcome Home" tutorial!), I'm making some decent progress.

The initial plan is for the command-line options only (partially selfish reason since that's all I've ever used; the GUI also seems much more complicated code-wise).  But I or someone else might take it from there and work at converting VisorGUI.

Just a heads-up, but with no promises yet due to my novice status.
