Oct 24, 2005Pardon me for being totally non-programming savvy. :oops:Posted in: Addon Ideas
But, how long is the 'auto-cooldown' on wands? Isn't there a way to maybe use Timex (not sure if it's needed, but since many has it, why not?) and let it wait for the specidic time it takes to do something else after using a wand, before firing off the spell in question?
Oct 24, 2005Hi again. I've been away for a long time and I actually put my WoW game in 'quarantine' until Christmas :D I really must try to focus on my real life duties and failed to do that earlier since WoW can totally absorb people like me :PPosted in: Addon Ideas
Anyway. I was thinking, wouldn't it be possible with LUA code, to make a script that will actually move your character one tiny degree to the left (and right alternatively) before casting? I mean, a very small turning twitch that is not, or at least merely, visible to the player. Wouldn't that cancel out the wanding?
Oct 5, 2005That'd be terrific. And as a layman, to me it doesn't seem like it should be -too- tricky coding this little thing. Perhaps you could benefit some of looking into the code for the automatic execution of dismounting when attacking, from the EzDismount AddOn?Posted in: Addon Ideas

You might want to take a peek in the code for a similar AddOn, called EzDismount. It's an AddOn that automatically dismounts you from your steed (or equivalent) when attacking a foe.
Oct 5, 2005This AddOn would be an awesome one. I fact, for me it would be totally wicked awesome to have. And I take it, every spellcaster would just die for this:Posted in: Addon Ideas
The idea is very simple. And honestly, I don't understand why Blizzard haven't done it already.
When you're casting spells and run out of mana, you naturally press the designated Wand button and you're starting to use the wand. But after a while, your mana has regerated a little bit and you want to cast another spell. Well... Here's where the current game control simply sucks. See, what you have to do is, you actually either need to cancel you wand casting by pressing Esc, or by jumping, or by moving. I don't see the point in this. If I'm a spellcaster, I want to stand still, on one point, without having to jump around or move, just to change my type of spellcasting. Besides, as for the normal spells, I can quckly change spell by just pressing another spell button. I never understood why that shouldn't be possible while using wands, just because they're automatically triggered.
So, I figured, an AddOn that, when you're using your wand and you press a button designated for one of your mana based spells, you first cancel your wand casting and secondly you will probably have to press that spell button once again (but this is in no way even nearly as irritating as it is to have to press Esc or move your character) and lastly you press the spell button a second time and you start using the spell in question.
If my descriptions are a little bit hard to understand, it has to do with the fact that english is not my mother tongue and sometimes it's tricky to explain things the way you wanted to in your own language, without having to spend half a day with the dictionary. So, please bare with me
Oct 5, 2005_ForgeUser1188260 posted a message on Craft Surfer (Nonlinear Clicking for Tradeskill items)How about that description, huh? I know, it sounds fuzzy.Posted in: Addon Ideas
Here an explanation of what I'd think would be VERY sweet to include for the Tradeskill/Crafting window. This should be very simple to code and in my opionion, this simple yet powerful tool will revolutionize the way one is crafting items in WoW.
Here is an example:
I'm an engineer. I want to create something. But in order to create that something, I need to first create some parts that is required to make that first something.
The way it is now, you will have to scroll through the list of all thousands of items that you can craft, in order to find every separate part in the building process.
Here is where is where this AddOn is entering the scene.
I'd like to be able to simply just click on the part in the ite'ms list of building components, in order to go directly to that specific part. I don't want to scroll around to find it.
What's even more cool, to add to this AddOn, would be a button where you can go to your PREVIOUSLY selected item!
That way, you can:
1.) Select the item that you want to craft in the first place.
2.) View it's building components/parts and if you need to create some of them, then just click on them in the components window.
3.) Once you created the specific component/part, click on the GO BACK button, to go back to the original main item that you're about to create.
If my explanation is hard to understand, I can post a screenshot illustrating what I mean.
Oct 5, 2005I'd like to have an AddOn that can, either automatically or manually, stack items that are... stackable.Posted in: Addon Ideas
Since there are some situation where items of the same ID get split up, it would be very nifty to be able to just hit that Stack! button to bring em together again, without having to search in your inventory for them. For instance, when you retrieve stufff from your bank, you might already have the same type of items in your inventory, but they rarely stack when you get them from the bank.
Sep 21, 2005Allright. First things first. This AddOn would probably make it into the Top 3 Most Useless AddOns. Warning has been issued. It may sound pretty silly, but here it goes:Posted in: Addon Ideas
I've noticed, when my pet is following me and I come to a sudden halt, the pet seems to be wandering all around me, trying to find a good place to stand still on.
Well, here is where I'm thinking:
What if I did the same to my pet; following -her- as well (in this case, my Succubus pet), until I find a suitable place where I see fit taking a break on? Wouldn't that be enough to bring you at least a vague indication for a smile on your lips? And what's more, would the dance ever stop?
Sep 21, 2005Dangit, Kayde. You beat me to it!! I was also thinking in the same line of thought. The first word that popped up in my head when I read the above was.... yes, GATHERER. :wink:Posted in: Addon Ideas
Btw, why not make it different sounds for various types of tracked items. Being a sound designer, I could easily whip up some little (small sized) sound effects that would spiff things up even more.
Sep 20, 2005Hello again. Tarko here.Posted in: Addon Ideas
Here is a wishing for a simple AddOn that I think would be cool to have. It's a simple reporting AddOn for the quest tracker in WoW:
When you choose to track a quest, it shows up in that little quest tracker list to the right of the screen, right.
Now, I'd like to be able to manually Shift-Click in that list, in order to tell the party of my current quest progress; for instance 'Winterbark Trolls slain: 3/8'.
If I'm Shift-Clicking on the quest name, it shows the whole quest status, e.g. its name plus the quest objective(s) and their progress. While if I'm Shift-clicking on an objective itself, it shows only that particular objective and its progress.
I'm currently using an AddOn called QuestAnnounce (http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=502), but that one is automatically sending out the progress info, which I don't fancy too much. I think -manual- reporting is the best way to go.
How 'bout it?
Sep 16, 2005This is THE place to look for splendid addons like this one. You're geniouses and I'm really really impressed. Thank you all so much for having this, excuse me, bizarre hobby of coding addons for games.Posted in: General AddOns
Oh, and Neriak... what an asset to the Ace community. And I'm not saying so because I've looked into his code or anything, but because I've read all the posts in this particular thread and can clearly see that you're putting a lot of effort in what you're doing.
