posted a message on Modul'ing & Dis- embedding
I'm sure this topics have been discussed at some time but recently I read opposite opinions about them.

Is splitting addons in modules really useful at all? I mean it probably makes sense with big addons like cartographer putting for example the gatherer part in a module. But does a small AddOn like AuldLangSyne really benefit from several small modules?
Isn't the overhead caused by that much bigger than the memory/cpu-usage saved? Especially if the modules get load anyway by the user?

I read also that disembedding shortens the initial loading time, but uses much more memory/cpu because a lot of libraries get load loaded regardless if they are used. Is that true? Should disembedding used only for debugging?

I wouldn't count on the free-premium account for mod authors. Maybe it was talked about, but as there is no mentioning of it on the official cursedclient page...

AFAIK the svn repository was guilty for all the traffic. Aren't there any "free" svn's to use? What about googlecode? Isn't that one free? Just asking. I still can't believe that what's happening was the best / only option...

If you refresh the forums as often as I do, you'll know if any post gets deleted. :d

Wowace admins rarely delete posts, thread locks are far more common, but still rare.

Well I just got one of my posts deleted. It wasn't vulgar, obscene or included profanity or something. I was just right and obviously phanx didn't like that. Which is of course completely okay...

Btw, the OP did say his thread was deleted by a cursed-admin, not by a wowace-admin. Don't know though if they are a different staff...

Is something special planned for the 14.October? I mean it's a special day... Everyone will probably want to update their addons...

I think that just a small part of the wau-users have understood that they have to make any "transition" at all...

    Are you prepared?

I haven't seen any word if third-party (or second...?) downloaders are allowed in the future. Wouldn't make much sense, would it? Because they too would circumvent the ads (not that any halfbrained has no control on ads...) on curse and the downloaders would most probably made public for everyone to use.

Here is my all of a sudden created, not-posting-since-years forum-lurking account which has only posts from past-transition-time... I never gave back anything to ace, because my postcount is 9+11. Stupid nonelitist me...

it's not an elitist post count crap, if you care about something, DO something. If all you do is lurk on the forums or .. not even visit them then show up all of a sudden and BITCH about something you "care" about. I've got to seriously question your devotion.

Btw, only people that care about postcounts defend it... ---end of debate.. i don't want to derail the thread anymore.

I did the opposite of defending it. Which in your defense you couldn't know because you read just one third of my post and that part backwards...

About postcounts, orionshock: I and everyone else isn't his postcount. Regardless of its count its possible one "achieved" it purely by spamming bs in threads.

That said, mine got deffinatly lost in the "transation" and can't possibly this low.

So much for your elitist postcount-crap.

The account "Thrillseeker" is also mine and got reset to zero as well.

Thanks for fixing my mistake! I really appreciate that. I would say that it was just a spelling mistake of some kind, because it didn't make any sense, but you probably know that better than me anyway. Thanks a lot again! :)

I have to criticize you too, though. You're lacking in the punctuation department my dear. And there must be a letter or even two missing in the word "official" in your sentence. That missing letters could make it very hard to understand you. And pleaaase start your sentences with capital letters. It's better for the eyes and makes you more respectable in your function as a grammarnazi.

    Edit:
My Question stays. Weren't there any other parties interested in buying/hosting wowace? I can't believe that for example WoWInterface.com wasn't interested. I mean they did host wowace for some time in the past, right? Imho wowinterface.com would have been a better partner. Their credibility is much better than curses.com.

Well I would say I'm not only an enduser. I do my fair share of bugfixing and localizing like I said.

As for the ads: I'd be bypassing them anyway. I have a proxy which filters every ad not just in my browser but in programs also. Only times I see ads are if I'm at a friends computer or at work. At home I'm untouchable for ads! I wouldn't click on them anyway. I don't buy stuff I don't need!

Okay... at this time I can download the trunk of every addon from curse.com and update via svn. Am I allowed to do that?

I really like this method because in the past I fixed small bugs or localized addons I liked and although I f'n hate curse I still like the benefits of Ace and would like to keep them.

This also means, that I won't use cc and just update everything via svn.

Is this okay or will I get banned or something for that?

If that is fine: Why are there two (three) kinds of "logins" to the svn? One without any username, one with my username and one with username and the prefix svn:ssh. Is the latter some linux stuff? I always use the second one with my username and the svn-prefix.

I don't understand every technical detail or even greater part of svn. But I can use it just fine and thats enough for me...

Also I want to apologize for calling you names, Torhal...
