Is it possible to change the ingame maps for other maps/"pictures".

I like the more detailed labels of mmochampion.com maps and would like to see them ingame.

These are the maps I'm talking about:

Why is it necessary to wait for the author to make bugfixes? Bugs are fixed all the time by nonauthors on the svn...

Do you think Blizzard could / should intervene in this Updater-War?

I for one think the best should win... which looking at the masses suposedly favourite (i count myself to the masses...) at this point would lead to total annihilation on all fronts.

It's similar to the discussion on vegatarianism. Humans will probably be the ultimate King of the World, but only by destroying themselfs with it.

You can use that crap if you want; but don't be surprised if you are not welcome here.

You and a lot of others have stated many times in the last days that users aren't welcome here and never were. So I'm not really sad about that point...

    ---

Okay, if wowmatrix is "stealing" addons how do you call the massconversion from wowace to cursed.com where every single addon got moved to their shitty site? Have you asked every author of every addon? I doubt that, because I have seen at least one thread in this forum where an author was pretty surprised and not realy happy about seeing his addon on cursed.com...

If it's not new it should have been a part of the overall strategy of the transition.

So creating something that does a community a great favour equals robbing someone? Instead of creating numb analogys, why don't you work on doing a better job than wowmatrix?

    @Tristanian
I said it before: It doesn't matter what you pretend or want to achieve or what something was meant to be. You have to deal and build upon what it was or is. You have to get out of Utopia. Not rebuild it.

And don't act like "the" developers weren't in no way responsible for the past. WAU did them a great favor too providing them with a huge userbase who gave them feedback and tested their addons.

The developers aren't getting the transition either. There are a lot of addons getting tagged as releases that are obviously not working. And I'm talking about tags from today and yesterday.

I just downloaded wowmatrix. I like it much better than curseddowndater. And it works...

I didn't follow the whole discussion, but I read, that it doesn't give the authors credit.

There is a direct link to the addonsource on every addonentry and the author himself is listed too. Where is the problem?

    ---

It also seems to get the version of addons right. A thing which curseddowndater claims to be unpossible.

It will always use the newest file within the type(s) allowed.

Does that mean "No, it won't update from a beta to a releaseversion"?

people who use wowmatrix, thanks for supporting those thieves shows how much you care about the people who's mods you love to use -shakes head-...on a side note i let the curse client do its thing and i havn't had any issues. Its really not so hard to setup up, i have had all my guildies set it up like how i said to and they are doing good also -shrugs-

Maybe you could write down what you told your guildies and publish it here. That should solve all problems.

This site and forum is for developers/power users, not for the average user - if you are "just" an average user, you should go to Curse/WoWInterface/WoWUI.

I have 2 Problem with this. First I don't think this is old news and most of you developers / power users want it to be true just recently. Second, whatever it is intended to be doesn't matter as long it is isn't used that way. If you want a change, well you can change but that doesn't mean everyone and everything around you will change as well. Your are going to / are pissing a lot of people off.

Btw. This kind of statement should be on the frontpage. Nothing more. Just this statement to clarify who is not welcome here anymore!

Everything else is just halfassed. You don't achieve changes by pretending...

posted a message on The New Curse Client
I reinstalled cursedclient a few minutes ago. Before that I deleted the configuration files (logfiles...) of cursedclient as well:

    - My accountdetails were still pre-entered. Good/Bad? Can't tell. Just wonder were they were stored. Windows registry?

    - I had to choose downloadlocations for a few addons which cursedclient was too challenged to choose by itself. For everyone of those there were 2 options. One was always marked as "recommended" and the other one always as "100%" in the column "Relevancy". Half of the "difficult to tell addons" had 2 identical links.

    - After choosing the addons I got presented my addonlist... and then nothing happened. Every AddOn in the list got the same date under "Installed" and "Latest" reported.

Fazit: Awesome! CursedClient is the best piece of software I've ever encountered! Thanks for this!

Seriously, how can so many so smart(!) people on this board fuck something so much up? This can't be possible! Today is patchday for a majorgeneralcommanderpresident patch and this is the best to come up with?

Is this done deliberatly? Weren't you convinced that telling your former "guests" how unwanted they are were enough?

How can you preannounce this transition for over, dunno, 3 months and being at this state at this point of time?

And what kind of frontpage is that on www.wowace.com? There should be an announcement for users who come here don't knowing whats going on. Not some walloftext for developers who know whats going on anyway.

This is just baffling. It is hard to swallow that we have to deal with cursed.com a lot more than we probably want to, but experiencing the transition in this amateur way is really saddening...

    ---

On another note: Only thing that went well is the forum-transition. The forumsoftware is really cool. Both thumbs up for whoever is behind that!

posted a message on WoW-Addon Survival Guide on WoW-Interface.com
    Quote from Cairenn »
We were told that people found it really helpful last time, so we're doing it again.

Just like when 2.4 went live, we know that 3.0 is going to have a major impact on a number of addons, and understanding how frustrating it is for users having to check site after site trying to find updates of their favourite addons, we’ve done an AddOn Survival Guide for 3.0 to try to help everyone out. We’ve made a list of over 100 of the top addons across all the major sites (WoWI, Curse, incgamers' and Ace) and put together a page to help. From this one page you can see whether any of these top addons have had an update, a beta update or no update yet for 3.0. If an addon has an update or beta update available, there will be an icon (or icons) that provide a link to the download page for the addon on whichever sites it is available. We will continue to monitor these addons for a few days after 3.0 goes live and revise the page as more get updated, until the rush is over.

If you know of an addon on the list that has been updated and we haven’t refreshed it on the list, please feel free to get in touch with us. You can send a PM to a staff member on the site, join us in irc (irc://irc.freenode.net/WoWUIDev) or by sending me an email: cairenn@wowinterface.com. Please be sure to include the link for the updated version.

Hopefully users will find this page helpful. Check it out here (or by clicking the icon above) and check back often to see if your favourite addons have been updated yet!

Is it just me, or are quotes in the new forum a few degrees too skewed/italic?
