Am I the only person who uses this mod? I don't see an official forum thread for it, or a wiki, or anything. I do see it's updated all the time, at least, but I sure could use some assistance, here. :(

This seems like a great mod to me, but I can't quite get it to do what I want it to.

What I am looking for is for CA to tell me either when my pet (I play hunter) either lands a Growl or has a Growl resisted. So far, I have figured out how to make it tell me when he CASTS Growl-- regardless of the outcome of the spell. But the OUTCOME is what I'm concerned about. Can anyone help me figure out how I need to set this up for that purpose?

posted a message on Growl Alert
Someone wrote a non-Ace mod called Growl Alert (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/7967/) that simply prints a message on the screen anytime a hunter's pet either lands a Growl or has it resisted. It broke as of Patch 2.4. I don't know too, too much about code, but it seems like this would be a very, very easy mod to fix and make Ace-compatible. It seems like the reason why it broke is because of the combat log changes and how the addon parsed the combat log in the past. I've done some reading and tried to figure out how to change how the mod parses the log, but I can't make much sense out of it. :( (I'm not a programmer.)

If someone had the time and knowledge to do so, I sure would appreciate it. I thought it was a very handy mod before it broke.

It looks like the cast lag indicator to me. Have you tried turning off the cast lag display in the /icehud castbar options?

You know, that seems to have been it. And here, all this time I thought it was some type of bug. I'm assuming that, since there is no numerical explanation of the lag, the indicator is longer on the bar from time to time because the lag is inconsistent, yeah? That makes sense to me.

I noticed it was also appearing on the threat bar I use through IceHUD, too, and THAT makes sense as well.

Well, great. I will just turn that off and have IceHUD looking spectacular. Thanks for the help. Love the mod. :)

I'll try that right now and let you know. :)

Sounds odd...haven't had any reports of that. I'll take a look at the video when you're done with it. Thanks for reporting it.

The video kind of sucks and is rendered pretty small (by accident), but I think if you download it, you should be able to see what I'm talking about.

Here's what to watch for: I start to mount up and then I take my cursor and circle the area of the casting bar where the glitch is happening. I mount up twice in the video. You can see it better the second time, as the glitch is bigger.

If this video is just too small and crappy, let me know and I'll put together another one tomorrow. Thanks for looking into this.

I searched around a bit and couldn't find an answer, so I thought I would ask here.

There is a visual bug in some of my bars where a portion of the bars shows at a higher alpha. For example, if I start to mount, the red bar for my mount casting timer starts. Anywhere between the top 1/4 and top 1/3 of the bar will be shown at 100% alpha, while the rest of the bar is shown at the normal alpha. I hope that makes sense. It's a random amount of the alpha that is changed and it doesn't happen on every bar (it doesn't seem to happen on the health or mana bars-- usually a cast bar.) I'll come back and attach a video when it's done uploading.

Is this a known bug? Have I missed a fix for it, somewhere? Anyone else have this issue?

Oh I know how it works, that's not a problem. But for a lot of people it'll cause issues, which was my main reason for not including something like it in the first place. For example, I'm a habitual mouse scroller. I change camera view a lot, and to have a buff on that would just be silly. But I'll consider it and see what the best approach is for ZOMG.

I just recently did a little LUA surgery on SmartBuff to make it so that my zoom function is shift-mousewheel and my buff function is just the mousewheel. Perhaps you could code it the opposite for yourself, for example. That way, if you're changing views a lot, you're not buffing, but you still have the option to hold shift and give that little roll to rebuff. Might be a decent option.

    Just curious about something...

SmartBuff can auto buff in combat. As a frost mage, I greatly appreciate the ability to just wiggle my mousewheel to toss up an Ice Barrier.

True, true. And this is the ONLY function I miss from switching over from SmartBuff. It would be the perfect addon if in-combat buffing became available. :)

I know jack-squat about programming addons, but have you examined the code for SB, by chance, to see how that addon works around it?

I know Gotwood has combined some with YATA. I love the functionality of the timers, but I wonder if it is possible to change the colors of the bars? I like to use timer bars that are different colors (often colored by element, in my case.) Is that option available?

Did nobody have a reply to this? Does the developer read these boards?

wow, i never even noticed sorrentimers in wau.. it looks like it is another elkbuffbars. I can check it out..

It sounds similar to the issue that cooldowntimers had where the timer for one bar would stay the same even though the cooldown had changed (1 trinket can have 3 different cooldowns). The fix was a simple one.. Unregister the bar each time it was done counting down. I'll see if that is what is happening here. Real life may keep me from checking it out until sometime next week though. I will get back to you

I believe it is similar to elkbuffbars, yes. Sorren's has been around a long time, though, actually. I used it way back when it was just "Sorren's Hunter Timers."

The "Ancient Mana Spring Totem" that the trinket summons only has a duration of 24 seconds. The regular "Mana Spring Totem" lasts 2 minutes. I don't know if that helps you in anyway, but I thought it might matter, somehow. :)

I see. I haven't seen or used Sorren Timers before, but based on the name, I assume that Sorren is the same that made cooldowntimers, and so no he doesn't. However, if you can provide me a download link, I'll check it out and see what I can come up with. I don't have a shaman or the trinket, but I can at least look at the code and see what I can determine

Wow! Awesome. Thanks so much for this. :)

I got my copy from the wowace download page. http://files.wowace.com/SorrenTimers/SorrenTimers-r47908.45.zip is the build there as of my posting this message.

Here's the deal with this, I think: I'm pretty sure what is triggering the timer is the presence of a buff. When I use the regular Mana Spring Totem, I receive a Mana Spring buff and my timer comes up. When I use the trinket, named Enamored Water Spirit, I also receive a Mana Spring buff (albeit at a different value, it is named the same), and I think the timer assumes, then, that I have simply cast my regular totem and, therefore, it shows me the timer for Mana Spring Totem. I haven't been able to determine how the coding works (again, I know very, very little about how coding works), but it seems like there are lots of triggers that determine the timers. For example, a Searing Totem appears on a cast instead of a buff. (I'm not sure if it shows up in the combat log, but that may be what's causing that trigger?) If that WAS how it was working, well, the trinket actually casts an "Ancient Mana Spring Totem," so maybe there is a way for it to recognize the appearance of that in the combat log and determine the timer from there?

This is very nice for you to be helping me out like this. I really appreciate it and wish there was someway I could repay your generosity.
