I suppose Vanguard is turning out to be EQ Redux. It's sad, because I expected more based on the original stuff I read from McQuaid. It sounded like they were introducing some nice new concepts beyond diplomacy but also bringing back some of the things that made EQ immersive. I actually like EQ better. Vanguard's graphics are also uninspired and even EQ's visuals are better.
I'm surprised about SOE shelving many ideas. I had heard that Sigil broke with MS because MS wanted to shelve or change many of Vanguard's concepts. That's disheartening. SOE is basically turning everyone of their games into clones of each other. So many of SWG's concepts have been put into EQ2. They're almost the same game, one with fantasy characters, the other with Star Wars characters.
KnThrak, how's levelling beyond 60 in TBC? Is it excrutiatingly slow? I heard that going from 60-70 was supposed to take as long as going from 1 to 60. My main reason for wanting to play TBC was to get my druid to 68 and flying form. But if it takes that long to level, it'd be months before I'd get there. :(
Ploof, thanks. Yes, simple, but I can't stand playing without it now. :)
Varuna, are you sure you unzipped everything? AceHook-2.0 is included, so it shouldn't be missing. You should see an \AddOns\Coins\Libs\AceHook-2.0 directory. If it's there, trying disabling BugSack. Maybe there's something wrong in it's version of AceLibrary.
What do you think? I've started three characters and played for about 5 hours total, max level 4 I think. It is BORING. Diplomacy is interesting and worth exploring, but does the rest of the game get entertaining at all? Nothing but dull kill quests and mundane character abilities so far.
It has 15 keys, a wheel, a thumb pad and button above that, so comparitively you have 24 programmable keys. I haven't played with it, but with its shift ability, it looks like you could effectively have four times this number. I use it mainly for travel and combat. For maintenance stuff like rearranging buttons, inventory, and such, I use the keyboard.
I absolutely can't game without my n52 now. It took some getting used to the palm rest, but now it's pretty comfortable. I have mine on top of my desk instead of on the keyboard tray, so it doesn't bend my wrist. I never had any trouble with key stiffness.
The n52 actually helped me play D&D Online (though I didn't continue playing that because it sucks :P). With all the tumbling and need to turn and keep moving, I just couldn't get the hang of it with the keyboard. Using the thumbpad to move, I could do these things very smoothly.
With all the cool features and stuff I just wonder why more mod authors don't use ACE.
There are a lot of reasons people have, and I think many come from misunderstanding. But coders are an indivualist lot and we like what feels comfortable to us. Many coders are just not going to feel comfortable in the Ace environment. Some want full control of their code and don't want to rely on a third party framework.
Personal preference, really, and there are so many addons out there that it gets easier to find Ace versions of other addons you like. So that gives players a chance to decide whether they want Ace addons or not. Of course, I personally think everyone should use Ace addons. :P
I just posted a new addon called SoloCast that works differently than the norm. It will self-cast if you have a hostile targeted and are in combat (togglable) and/or self-cast when you double-tap (or double-click) the spell.
That sounds incredibly odd, especially with your StopTheLagness results, since STL does nothing until you open your bags and hover over an item to display the tooltip. Personally I haven't seen any trouble, and in fact my latency is usually lower than that of a friend of mine who has nothing but FlexBar installed.
All I can suggest is try disabling a few addons at a time and see what happens. It sucks to step through like that, but it could be a matter of one or more addons that are overlapping and somehow causing extra load.
No, but I wouldn't be opposed to adding that if someone wants to give me some pointers on how to grab the mouse input. :)
Just to clarify, though, are you talking about having a right-click self-cast no matter where the cursor is at. Personally I often use a right-click to cancel a queued spell.
Yes, my understanding is that a major version will only have its latest revision loaded. All other revisions get dumped. This is why revisions need to remain backwardly compatible. If you need to significantly change a library where current usage will be broken, it needs a major version change.

Oh, cool. I was hoping that's the way I could get it to work. I'm going to have to set that up. I need a lot of extra buttons for EQII and WoW.

EDIT: Clarify, I mean my own buffs/debuffs. I didn't see those, but maybe they're there and I need to toggle them on? I'm at work so I can't check.

Someone already suggested I add right-click support, so maybe I'll hoark some code from these addons. :)
