This is a bad idea. First, if the modules are already separate from the core, there's no reason not to go one step further and make them separate downloads too.

Well, there are reasons for doing so, and there are reasons for not doing so.
I think (or i hope) you will agree that it is not a good idea to make a module for a topleft corner indicator, a module for a topright corner indicator, a bottomleft corner indicator, ... eaven if there are maybe a handfull users that won't use them. And i bet it would be no problem to seperate all this.

Question is: is it worth to do so?

    Quote from Phanx »
Second, if you package 5, 10, or 50 plugins with the core in the same download, then every time any one of those is updated, users will have to download the entire package, even if the change merely corrected a single typo in a single file; this is a waste of everyone's time and bandwidth.

If something isn't included in the core, there's a reason for it... maybe you think Lifebloom tracking is a good candidate for bundling, but why should anyone other than resto druids have to download this plugin and waste even a single byte storing it? For anyone else, it's totally useless.

I agree, except for the "single byte" thing.

It's also a waste of bandwith and space to have every WAU user get a long list of packages everytime if the package content is very small. I don't know where to draw the line, but having a seperate module for something that is smaller than a certain amount of code or so, you waste more bandwith than you safe.
I could imagine that this amount would be somewhere around 1kb or so, but this is just a guess, there are smarter people out than me...

posted a message on Grid2 - What it is, and what it's not
I've been using grid from the start. I've helped others to configure it, i eaven tried to change the appearance by editing the source when my wishes were beyond what the UI did allow me. So here my 2c i want to share now that a rewrite is being done:

Configuration is huge, and i expect it to be that way. So having the config seperate is a good thing.

Eaven if it hurts myself, i have to agree that the core should stay as minimal as possible. But please not at all cost. I don't know how much overhead is needed to add a indicator per module compared to having it allready in the core. The less overhead there is, the more common used indicators can go as modules.

It's hard to tell how much users actually use what, and i wouldn't like to force others to have a bloated core just because i want SideIndicators, Status AFK/Hots/Lifebloom/PvP/Raidicons in the core, as i wouldn't want to become grid bloated by the ca. 20 other available modules that are allready out there.

However, if i there would be a way to have the most common and basic modules shipping with the core and load on demand i think i would like that. I don't care if the core needs a view kb more on the disk or not.

There is however one thing that i never really managed to configure perfectly: The Layout. Most of the time i use by class with pets, but sometimes i wish i had not that big space if some classes are not present at all. 9 rows for classes and one row for pets give 10 rows. Maybe it would a bit more space efficient to have 2 columns with 5 rows each? I don't know ...
And for Warriors, Druids and Palas: it would be great to have them sorted so the tanks come first.
This are just examples. All i want to say is that maybe there are some aspects of the layout configurability that can be improoved a bit.

Been thinking about how to decide where someone belongs. Maybe let the Addon do the same thing that a Raid Leader would do:

Check the Max Health, Mana and Armor of the people in the raid. (If Druid is not in Bear form, then calculate the values he would have in bear)
I don't know what else can be queried without additional addons.

I would assume it is possible to find a formula that gives some tank rating to sort by, and depending on the group size the best tanks are tanks (about 2 of 10).

    EDIT:
Damn, just tested what is possible, and it seems that you can't get anything bug health and mana. not eaven armor.

    I suspect Worf installed YssGridLayout

    Nope.
    Just Grid + GridStatus[Afk|Hots|Livebloom|PvP]

But maybe i should have mentioned that i was talking about Blizzards MTs/MAs
Anyway - a i had a quick look at YssGridLayout (the source, could not test ingame yet), and it looks as it would just do the same - display the MTs seperately _and_ in their group/class - showing them twice.

I'd like Layout that shows the MTs first, and then the rest of the raid by class.

If it's with Blizzards MTs and MAs or oRA2 MTs i don't care - we usually set both. (Speaking of which: why are they actually handled seperately?)

Recently i noticed Grid now also supports Maintank / Mainassist.
I Really like having MTs and MAs first, but would prefer to not have units displayed more than once in grid.

Is it possible to create a Layout that does not display a unit more than once?
    Or some "and not MT,MA"-filter?

    This looks quite amazing.
I'm just wondering.. can syncing be done using a common backend like Threat-1.0? Or is that out of question because of the level of detail needed in the data?

    There is no pet support.

But it is on the Grid TODO.
And i also would really like pet support in Grid and other addons.

I'm not a fan. Someone else could certainly look at GridSideIndicators for an example of how to add extra indicators to the GridFrame.

I have to agree. Putting in too much would ruin the "immediately see what you need to see" - feeling.

missing mana is something i check with XRS.

Pets will be some time after 2.1.0.

I do really look forward to that.
The thing i miss most since WoW went 2.0
(shortly followed by action bar space and unbount keys)

I did a search&replace on the blizzard target frame and after some small fixes i had a somewhat working frame for the focus unit.

Quick and dirty. I wouldn't call it a release or so, but if you want to give it a try, i just put it here for you to download so you don't have to search&replace yourself... :D

@tripeX: wow - your Kirby really is a monster!

About the poor Party Pet/Raid Pet support in the Secure Frames: What is it that doesn't work?
Are the Frames missing updates or so?
And are there possible workarounds, or is that all blocked due to "security"?

I mean, i would rather have a couple of frames that need polling for updates and have other glitches than have no frames at all.

Not eaven the Blizzard UI properly supports pets. I have no addon that messes with my bars, but when my pet dies in combat, funny things happen to the pet action bar...

    posted a message on oRA2
I'm wondering if the internals of oRA would allow putting a pet into the MT list...
But i think the MT list is using names and only translates to unitid in the end, so this would be propably too much of a change... well, just dreaming...

posted a message on Pet support for <your raid addon>?
After finally overcoming my post-patch depressions i logged in my hunter and joined a Zul Gurub raid. Messing with my UI and experimenting with all kinds of stuff.

I noticed that my pet (eaven no point spent in Beastmaster) now is way stronger than before. Having more armor, more HP and doing about double the damage than before.

I experimented a bit with what i can do. Especially with my pet.
At High Priestess Arlokk i tried to tank the panthers at one side with my pet (we had only 2 tanks). It worked actually quite well. I think i lost one single panther until she stealthed the first time.
At Hakkar i sent in my pet after a view sec and it had enough aggro to hold Hakkar after the MainTank was in MindControl.
However, eaven though playing a spare tank with my pet worked better than expected and way better than imaginable before the patch, my pet died without healing.

Unfortunately pet healing got decreased considerably with the patch: The new Skilltrees (Druid in Treeform,...) and other changes lead to setups with healergroups that do crosshealing instead of spreading the healers among the raid. At least more than before the patch. This is a good thing, but most interfaces don't show pets of other groups. And Emergency Monitors that could have shown pets (squishy, etc..) are now only known from history books.

So i ask for more pet support in all your raid addons out there!
I'd like to see the pets in grid, in easyraid, etc.. what raid unitframe addon is out there that supports it?
No RaidStatus Addon takes the pets into calculation!
And why can't i set a pet in the MT list in oRA or any other *RA?

I think i can do a good Job with my pet, as long as i get the necessary support, so please - if you are brushing up your addon, consider adding support for pets too! The feline friends will eventually save your ass somewhen!
