Thanks for another great update - especially for the updated CosmosUI support.
Just heads up for others who have the "update lockup" problem. Try updating your site regexps - I had the lockup as well, but updating the regexps solved it.
For regexps update use: menu Tools > Check site regexps

After much delay, all the 2.4 recipes should be in TSI. Please let me know if I missed any. I also disabled the esES translation for now. I was really tempted to delete it outright, but we'll see what happens next.
Thanks for the update and welcome back. I have just one request: can you look at the Auctioneer-Advanced compatibility? I'm patching my local version of TSI after each update and so far I haven't had any errors.
One issue remains though: The "TradeskillInfo:AuctionFrameBrowse_Update()" is not installed under some conditions :(

Apr 25, 2008Are you running any minimap button management addon (MinimapButtonBag and similar)? MBB has some code to resize frames attached to minimap to have all icons the same size in its menu, but MBB was already updated to support HandyNotes...Posted in: AddOn HELP!

Oww i see you mention _QuestGivers is there a QuestGivers module being made at the moment. Getting excited now can finally remove cart if thats the case.
QuestGivers module is on my list of addons I'd like to see, but AFAIK no one is currently working on it (at least not me).
I could write a simple QuestGivers module, which would create note for each NPC with quest gossip, but that would create many almost useless notes...
I'd like it to have these features: list of available quests; (optional) hiding of trivial quests; hiding of completed quest. The last feature would need to track your questing progress and save it to SV... Another problem is you cannot get the new QuestID without accepting the quest first and it would have to track quests based on title/objectives/... :(

The only possible solution is to take away the OnEnter and OnClick abilities from the plugins, and have HandyNotes generate its own tooltip/menus for them. This means plugins have to register for "what to display" and "what menu items to show up", and conform to very specific rules, which is exactly how Cartographer does it, hence it is very limiting.
What I can suggest is for you to change _Vendors internally so that notes near each other (say 10 yards) are combined into a single note that lists every vendor that note represents. You will need to change your storage format and iterators accordingly if you do this.
As I've written before - I can solve the problem on local level on _Vendors, but this doesn't solve the problem in larger scale - when notes from different addons overlap - even when there is one lonely trainer/vendor in far away wilderness I have no way from _Vendors to check _Trainers notes and vice versa. This NPC could also give some quest and the problem is to coordinate 3 addons...
My proposal for central solution in HandyNotes core is to add OnEnterMultiple(...) which would return one line for the multiple note tooltip. This line could be also used for right-click menu (but would block the note from receiving left-clicks :(): Rightclicking would then open menu with list of all notes and after clicking one of the names, this menu would hide and note's OnClick handler would be called :)

You see, if you have THAT many notes all over your map, you probably don't really need half of those notes at all. Since each plugin returns an iterator to HandyNotes, you can easily rewrite your own plugin to only iterate over and return a subset of data to be displayed on the maps, depending on user choices.
I know all addons made up to now add just a few notes to each map. The first problem comes with HandyNotes_Vendors because vendors are clustered in shops. I can solve this locally in HandyNotes_Vendors to display more vendors in one tooltip, but when Trainer notes are added by another addon it cannot be done anymore. Also some trainers are also vendors at the same time and thus having two notes on the exact same place :( HandyNotes is the only place where all the notes are at the same time and thus it is the best place to handle such situations.
(I hated this limitation in Cartographer_Notes and I was hoping it could be resolved in HandyNotes ;))
If you have any idea how to solve this locally across more addons (_Vendors, _Trainers, _QuestGivers, ...) I'm open for suggestions :)
I thought about adding new HandyNotes addon layer between HandyNotes itself and these addons - if all are made in similar way by one/few authors we can create more limitations and add bit of standardization :)
The problem of such solution would be confusion between users as they would need core HandyNotes, HandyNotes_Something and HandyNotes_Vendors just for the vendors notes. The HandyNotes_Something could be optional, but would add more complexity to the notes addons. Its code could also be included in all addons wanting to support it similarly to LibStub is included in some libraries.

Ability to configure a key, for example right-mouse click, that will delete the item in your bag when clicking on the item in the monitor.
I'm against adding this to Xloot Monitor, because it could throw out items I need. Also if the item is stackable (20 pieces) and you have 19 pieces already and pick up 2 new pieces, what it should do? Throw out the 2 new pieces? Throw out the 1 excessive piece and add second one to already existing stack? Or throw out all 21 items?
You can use LootFilter addon for filtering out items you don't want to loot.
You can use FuBar_GarbageFu (works without Fubar) to throw out items (list sorted by profitability) and autoselling gray items to vendors.
Apr 23, 2008I suppose this is the best as "official Whats thread" as it can get.Posted in: General AddOns
After few Zidomo's comments in WhoDrop thread I'm trying this addon and I have a few feature request/ideas/questions...
1) It seems the item database is different and some items are only presented in WhoDrop and some only in Whats.
I'm missing in Whats: Crafted item sets; Instance quest rewards; Outland quest rewards (generally not needed imho); some items available only from rare mobs (Vilerend Slicer) ...
2) Items paid with alternative currency use item IDs of the currency instead of the currency name when you don't have it in your cache. I find it difficult to find out, which currency is which and difficult (or impossible without the use of other addons) to get the currency item appear in my item cache.
3) Some items in Whats display numbers in tooltip: Whats: Morgaine the Sly(31/65)<Elwynn Forrest> - if this is drop rate, it would be more useful when converted to percentage
4) The Whats information in tooltips could gain more from some coloring - reading long white lines is often difficult...
Apr 23, 2008I'd also like to see a good WhoDrop replacement or someone to continue in the WhoDrop development. WhoDrop has the best item tooltip feature I've seen in similar addons: The WhoDrop tooltip line is compact but still informative. It also does work in all item tooltips I've needed it to work and has easy to use Waterfall interface ;)Posted in: General AddOns
I don't like Whats user interface and LootDB uses 3 tooltip lines for the same information as WhoDrop...

I feel stupid now - I didn't understand this item in the changelog and haven't checked it in WUU :(
EDIT: It seems the * Bugfix: Clears the list of needed dependencies when a check has been done doesn't work - I've been testing the version info feature and the dependencies message grow bigger each time (I've just opened and closed the wowace addons list few times without doing anything else)

As a matter of interest why do you use both of these programs, do they each provide something the other one doesn't?
I sometimes run WAU as well because it can sort uninstalled addons by the latest version/update time which is usefull for checking on new addons on wowace. I've already asked for adding sortable "version" column to Install > Wowace dialog, which would solve this issue for me ;)
BTW: I've already asked for this feature:
Quote from zarevak »
1) Can the wowace install window display addon versions? When I used WAU I always sorted the addons by their version to look for the new ones...
to which lejordet replied:

1) Sure, why not :) I'll see if it's easy to add (kinda stuck on the advanced restore I've been working on)

Fix patched in.
Thank you for your support ;)
Just one qeustion/feature request: When mousing over more some crowded place with many notes only one tooltip with one note information is shown. Is it possible to implement tooltip conjuction similar to GatherMate's? I can try to do it manually in HandyNotes_Vendors, but it won't solve the problem when combined with other HandyNotes modules... This should also handle the right-click menu for the users to able easily edit/remove notes in the background/hidden by other notes.
For the tooltip the ideal solution IMHO would be some sort of callback called in the event when the line is needed for the multiple note tooltip...

Got the following error with HandyNotes_Vendors when talking to G'eras in Shattrath City:
[2008/04/22 17:15:55-1723-x1]: HandyNotes_Vendors-1\addon.lua:257: attempt to concatenate local 'vGuild' (a nil value)
Thank you for the report; I haven't considered merchants without "guild" tag :( I've just asked for the SVN account and I'll fix it right away when I get it.
EDIT: Until my SVN account is resolved you can patch it yourself in HandyNotes_Vendors/addon.lua:
Change line 127 from tooltip:AddLine(vGuild) to if (vGuild ~= "") then tooltip:AddLine(vGuild) end
Change line 224 from return nil to return ""

This broke Skillet to the point ReloadUI was needed... ... but ReloadUI didn't help either nor restarting the game... ...only removing the Skillet's saved variables resolved the problem :(
