So i dont know if i can do this with a Custom event but i wanted to ask any way. I want to, on the display, Show my pets damage on one side of the Mob and My damage on the other. Essentially making 2 Columns of Scroling text.

SCT orientates around it's anchors, what you're talking about is the "original Blizzard SCTD". I guess this isn't possible and never will be as SCTD is designed for seeing the damage on a specific spot on the screen instead of above the mob. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Another question (bug?) though:
I tried to setup a display for the stack count of the Vial of the Sunwell trinket from tdm hc which I need to stack up to 20 times for maximum effect.
I created a custom event and set Display to *4 (which is the amount of the buff stack) and the first stack always shows up as *4 while the following are displayed correctly.
I tried to put any kind of brackets around them for no result but the brackets itself showing up...

It's not that gamebreaking and the cause is pretty obvious (the first appliance doesn't wield a stack#) and even if I read the first as 4 stacks it doesn't matter because I want 20 anyways, maybe 15+ if it's urgent while silenced. But I still wonder if there is any way to show the first stack as "1" ;)

I am curious what you meant by "which messes up sometimes and isn't really reliable imho" in regards to Proximo though.

Oh noes! The mighty Grayhoof in my thread!!! /worship
First of all, SCT is the only addon I couldn't play without anymore, Blizz's adaption plain stinks, you're the man.
Then, Proximo, compared to ALF and AM absolutely looks best, but we experienced some issues with feigning hunters and sometimes even groupmembers being shown as enemies, whereas the actual fifth enemy was missing. Another annoyance was that the proximo frame kept resetting it's position to the very top left, almost impossible to drag back to where we wanted it to be, and on some really rare occurances not showing any enemy at all, so we went back to using AM with my warrior's team.
Maybe those bugs got fixed but I really didn't care that much, I will check them out with with the start of S3.

This ends up working out pretty well for things such as health, mana, etc...but when it comes to cast bars, buffs, and debuffs it doesn't work nearly as well. Its not impossible to make work, it just will not be very accurate.

Actually that is exactly the answer for what I was asking -- I wasn't asking for "DO IT, I WANT IT!!1", you made the point.

The only question left is, would it be terribly hard to do or maybe not worth the effort to allow addons like NECB to nest itself in proximo? Like NECB asks Proximo "Hi, what do we have here?" and Proximo tells NECB "Warlock Idotu's 'health bar' is at position x,y - put their debuff line below/beside it". I'm thinking roughly of the way as Mobhealth nests in Unitframes (though I know that this is something completely different).
What I mean is, IF NECB and Proximo are installed, there could be an option in the addons to join them. I guess that'd be up to the author of NECB, Proximo coul just provide that kind of information.

    Cheers, zimbl

Alright, if let's say proximo (shiniest imho) would implement debuff bars, I could get rid of NECB, as that's all I use it for, to track debuffs. (Sub-)Addons, like this dot/debuff watch can be loaded on demand, so it wouldn't hurt at all. If I look at my addon list, I use only 50% of the LoD-Addons from xPerl, just to give an example. I even disabled some DBM-LoDs because I don't raid 25s.

So what's the benefit of having debuffs shown below the enemy parties health bars?
    - Less screen clutter, all in the same place.
    - More overview, as with two seperate addons, the group bars are sorted randomly, debuffs as they're applied.
    - I could even imagine a castbar below enemies' healthbars. Awesome.

    Example:
That curse of tongues on the enemy paladin healer is going to elapse in 3 seconds, his healthbar (by which you can target him with a click, maybe even right-clicking would cast CoT if target is a Paladin) is just a glimpse away from the 3-seconds-left-timer. Same goes for faerie fire on rogues if you're a druid, hamstring on the rogue chasing your healer, if you play a warrior(*).

NECB shows diminishing returns. If you could set up those to be shown below your enemy's bar, it's hard to mess up and immune-sheep/cyclone/fear him.

Counterquestion - why did almost all group unitframes implement a castbar below your groups bars? Blizzard (finally) even implemented DoT/HoT timers in (de)buff displays in their standard UI (which already reduces NECB's usefulness).
I guess it's for the same reason -- convenience. I wouldn't want to have 3 different addons showing me loot tables for PvP gear, 5man instances and raids. I want it all in one, like Atlasloot does. And maybe we have a different point of view, but I wouldn't want any extra frame to show me debuffs on my teammates if I was to cure them. Which is basically the same, just the other way around, at least for me.

Then again, shout L2P, or "so you want to play easymode?" etc. Yeah, you're right. But most people already play easymode, as they are using those addons seperately. And initially, I just wanted to know why it hasn't been done yet, if there are technical restrictions from blizzard or something.

(*) - Which I do, and I actually hate locks, who, as I already pointed out, would benefit most from this.

Why join two completely different things, especially when there's tons of separate versions that work just fine?

... hmmm ... because ... it would ROCK?

I mean, we already have Natur Enemy Cast Bar, DotDotDot or any similar addon, which show the DoT's duration with the affected targets' name.
Then again there is ArenaMaster (well, no Healthbar, but percentage), better yet Area Life Frames and the "close-to-actual-unitframes" Proximo (which messes up sometimes and isn't really reliable imho, but graphically only a step behind xperl, aguf or pitbull).

I'm not into LUA or WoW-API but I just wonder what keeps the coders from joining those two addon branches (except for ethics maybe, like cloning or something)? Actually only moving the DoT-timers to their correspondent enemys healthbar.
Beneficiaries would be primarily 'locks, but what the hell (that's where ethics might kick in, as they're already hard to beat ;)).

i find that usually a reload of your ui will make the macro text update right, its not the best work around but if you have static texts at least its something (now if your macro text changes a lot then that wont help you much)

On my Warrior, Macros change with stance- and weaponchange... So reloading the UI is no real solution (as you already stated) :(
Using my own bars instead of the Blizzard ones would rock so much. I'm already using every last one of the 120 standard buttons (I respec often and def spec has a competely different bar setup, well at least in def stance...) because I'm sick of rearraning my interface after each respec.

Hmmmm, currently its not, but that wouldn't be hard to code

Regarding it's probably only my problem, you could just save the effort of coding it. But if you like the idea of implementing it to fb2, I'd be the last one to detain you ;)

    That's sad :(

Well, then, as a workaround (maybe I was just too lazy until now), is it possible to change action based on the equipped weapon? Like Blizz's [equipped:shield] does? Couldn't find anything about it, a simple 'yes' would be sufficient (and appreciated). I could do further research about it, as I said, maybe I was just too lazy :(

    Hello everyone,

I loved the old Flexbar and I'm really happy that it's back again.
One thing that keeps me from using it though, is the fact that Macro icons do not update properly. Someone else with the same problem? If that's a bug and gets fixed, I'd switch from Bartender immediately.

I really appreciate the time you spend on developing this addon cnc!
