posted a message on The New Curse Client
I just checked and it seems to be on top for me. The problem is with the "old school" WoWAce SVN addons, since the changelog is sorted by revision number, and these addons have some very high (and old) ones in there.

But I still think that the changelog isn't really functional yet. The window is too small and it locks up the client when opening one (this can take up to some seconds for the larger mods).

Oh btw, a nice feature would be if the client would automatically open a changelog for all the addons that can be updated (maybe even with just the new changes in there).

r doesn't stand for "release", r stands for "revision" (alpha revisions, since they aren't tagged as beta or release). But shefki made a release today (v3.2.8 ) and it did sync with Curse.

posted a message on Free translation from English -> German
For a short explanation (assuming that the mods use the "standard" way of doing things):

Open the addons folder (the folder you copy into WoW/Interface/Addons). If it is already prepared for translations, it will usually have a file called "localization_deDE.lua" for german translations (it could also be "<addon name>_deDE" or inside a folder called localization, use your imagination when searching for these things... ;)). Now comes he tricky part:

These files usually look something like this:
L["identifier"] = "Translation for that identifier"
L["something"] = "Translation for something"
If these lines aren't yet inside the deDE file, you can usually copy them from the "enUS" file and edit them accordingly.

Or it could look like that:
if( GetLocale() == "deDE" ) then
GATHERER_TRADE_HERBALISM="Botanique";
GATHERER_TRADE_MINING="Minage";
end
It is a bit tricky to find out the correct format to use, and even trickier if it doesn't have such files available with all texts used. Just ask here if you need further assistance (At best just look at an addon, and if you are lost, ask here how you should do it. Just remember that some addons can't easily be localized because of the way they are programmed.)

I've already requested a center-align option per bin and he said he put it on his low-priority list. Perhaps some additional encouragement in that thread would convince him to move it up.

+1!

I love ButtonBin, and a center-align option would make it (nearly) perfect!

posted a message on Broker / Options
I still think they should all start with Broker_* (or some other thing the community decides on). It's sometimes not that easy to find Broker plugins... (Yes I know WoWI has categories...)

And if a lot of Broker addons start to use configurations (I can't think of a lot of plugins which even have a configuration), I think it would be a good idea to have them all in one category in the addons panel (Except if the number of subcategories is limited, does someone know?).

And Seerah, as far as I know the addons don't need to start with Broker_* to be displayed under a Broker categorie in the interface options menu... ;)

Ok, I narrowed it down to the PlayerNames module (and actually believe I sloved it too).

To reproduce try the following:
1) Log in with a char with only Prat enabled (he shouldn't be in a guild)
2) Disable all modules except the PlayerNames module
3) /script ReloadUI()
4) You have the message! ("You are not in a guild.")

Alternatively you can also just disable the PlayerNames module, reload the UI and then enable it. As it gets enabled the message should appear.

Since I try to learn LUA I took a peek into the module, and found a call to "GuildRoster()" inside the OnModuleEnable, which gave me excatly that error.

I replaced the line with "if IsInGuild() then GuildRoster() end" and the message disappeard. You might want to put that if around the whole block, but for my short debugging/learning LUA session it was good enough... ;)

Are you in a guild? If yes, then its most likely a WoW bug. If not, I'm not really sure. When does it happen?

It only happens on chars which aren't in a guild, on login (didn't try reloadUI yet, but it will happen then most likely too). I will try it tonight again and see if it still happens and if I can break it down to a module.

Talking about Frames in XML vs. LUA: Is there a good "reference implementation" of a LUA GUI aka a mod which uses LUA to make the frames that isn't totally overwhelming for somebody just starting out with addon programming?

I noticed yesterday while playing that Prat apparently tries to send something to the guild channel (I usually get the message "You are not in a guild" when I login and sometimes even randomly while playing). But on the char that is actually in a guild I don't see that message and nothing is written into the guild chat. What could that be?

(I only had Prat enabled to test it)

It would be possible, but a lot of information is lost. For example comments where he explained things and function names. It would be a considerable effort to make the source usable again.

And I'm not sure under which license rolf released JWowUpdater, but if it wasn't a open source license it would even be illegal as far as I know.

Although the "web standards" guys would say don't use tables, in reality using tables can greatly help more browsers render your layout correctly.

But that's not the point why they say "don't use tables", it's accessibility.

Google seems to agree with you.

I stand corrected.

Addendum: I should mention that I stand corrected in international terms. Because in Switzerland 80/20 is more common (yes I just took out an old schoolbook to confirm it... ;))
