I don't care, but he cares when he doesn't see his own messages >_>
(P.S. I usually have broadcast switched off, my guild just love the icon placement, but they're not ones to change from something that already works for everyone).
If it's a case of: This is the way it is, no changing. Then I, and they, will just have to live without raid icon placement. I'll continue enjoying bigwigs with bossblock on, and they'll do their own ctra thing.

Oct 13, 2006Can someone explain to me what the best way to use the bossblock is?Posted in: Raid AddOns
Currently I am occaisionally promoted (as the only bigwigs user) to use bigwigs for various warnings and placing raid icons. I also have bossblock turned on to blank out any incoming warnings I would see anyway.
However my raid leader once complained to me that while I was promoted it supressed his raid says.
So whats the best way to use bigwigs while promoted, not see spam myself (I have my own local messages/bars that warn me), but let my leaders spam as they please. Yet still allow random 'talk' or non-auto messages that my raid leader may want to say in /rs (although it appears in /rw for me).
(yes I did search before hand, but couldn't find a detailed explanation of what bossblock does. Hmmm, there is another search I can try..).
Edit: This is with latest bigwigs and oRA2.
Edit2: I use improved_RW, that may be doing something with bossblock. I'll have to go check.
Oct 10, 2006In AB rep comes in once you score certain points. So if you're winning (have 4-5 nodes) rep comes in very quickly, as you're gaining points very fast. But over a span of five minutes it'll be a max of 4 times you gain rep, I think you win the game after that.Posted in: FuBar AddOns
In WSG you gain rep anytime you cap a flag. In good games this will be three times every 5mins (three rep gains and you've won the game so it won't be more than that), in bad games there won't be any rep gain at all.
In AV (where the problem lies). You gain rep for people turning in items, for people killing npc's. And if you're near to fighting you gain 1 rep per honor kill. So in a busy AV you can gain rep once every second. [300 rep gains in 5mins?]
So you can see it's mainly just AV that's the problem. Other rep gaining situations are fine. Perhaps if you were in a Silithus farming group you could see other problems (you gain 1 rep every Twilight Cultist kill there. The best I've seen is, say, 6 a minute? [30 rep gains in 5mins].
Oct 9, 2006I'm not a coder myself I'm afraid, so I wouldn't know how to fix this.Posted in: FuBar AddOns
I only found this because I was crashing out in AV (especially in AV after playing AB/WSG games while waiting for the queue) when my UI ran out of memory (that's about 25mb above the intial memory at loadup).
By watching performanceFu and teksupport I worked out the peaks came from gaining rep and general combat. Generally it a little peak when you gain rep at handins, or killing PvE mobs is fine. Just in AV your rep gain is constant for quite sometime. Especially if you've been gaining rep in WSG/AB for the last 1h30min AV queue ^^;
Bucketed events seem the way to go (from what I've heard of them). Or just a quiet mode in AV (so no updates except when entering and leaving AV?).
The bucketed events (or some similar throtteling code) would help performance in general, which is always nice :).
Oct 9, 2006Hmm I've found this addon can cause extreme k/s in AV.Posted in: FuBar AddOns
As it stands there's a fairly large jump everytime you gain rep (unsurprising considering what the addon does). But because in AV you're *constantly* gaining rep this can cause k/s up to 50kib per second. Which results in a crash in long games.
So it is possible to slow the mod down during excessive rep gains? Or just make it disable in AV? (currently I disable it manually when I enter AV, hardly difficult, but still).
Oct 9, 2006Hi, I'm finding when using cleafont and this mod the smaller texts (namely the ones describing the loot type) get 'crushed' and don't look as good as normal.Posted in: General AddOns
Now this also happened to the numbers on the hp bars (and items like Dead/Offline) for perfectraid, and it would be fixed by commenting out 'font:SetTextHeight(10)'. However I'm not sure where similar code would be in xloot. Any ideas?
Oct 9, 2006_ForgeUser11065 posted a message on Squeenix - Some people enjoy putting square things in round holeshttp://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=5367Posted in: Addon Ideas
This is a good twin mod to this one; it allows you to move minimap buttons anywhere (Ace2 minimap buttons seem move as normal though). That should solve any problems with buttons in odd places.
with regard to the map going black: I seem to get that everytime I zone :( (zone as in seeing the loading screen at least, rather than zoning across a open zone boundry).
Oct 9, 2006Would be nice if it had a seperate anchor to the normal bars so I can put them out of the way somewhere.Posted in: Raid AddOns
Also there's no reset ability, I found that I was still getting messages (I did a /reloadui to get rid of the bars) after I finished in MC.
Nice mod tho.
Oct 7, 2006I'm getting very high spikes of kib/s in Alterac Valley. Up to 50k/s at points. I wondered if anyone had any pointers.Posted in: General Chat
Now while watching performanceFU and teksupport I *believe* the peaks come from a) high combat areas (charging 40 hordies) and b) while gaining rep.
So I *think* I reduced the majority of it by disabling tekautorep (that's where the 50k/s peak comes from, FuXPFu prolly doesn't help either). Test by handing in 4 armour quests in AV in quick succession, resulting in 40+ k/s. Then followd by banzaialert and MTLove (not actually an ace addon) to reduce the large k/s during high stress combat.
Now the main point of posting is this bouncing this off the develops and those in the know. Am I barking up the wrong tree? Is there anyway to use these mods without such a huge k/s?
P.S. I've tested in WSG and AB and I don't get the same problems, although it needs more testing really. I need to test during some PvE raids.
Edit: In AB a 11 rep reward = 2k/s jump. Handing in WSG quest (55 rep and some honor) means about 12k/s jump. Handing in concerted efforts is something like 45-50 k/s jump. So I can imagine AV with it's constant 1-2 rep gain is a large drain on memory.
So now to test without tekautorep and other rep addons...
Edit: Ok playing AV with tekautorep on and FuXPFu off, and my k/s is fairly normal. So I have come to the temporary conclusion that the k/s spikes are caused by FuXPFu... now the quest is: why?
Oct 3, 2006In the last patch (1.12.1) I saw:Posted in: General AddOns
When going from Windowed mode to Full-Screen mode, player names will no longer be replaced with "..."
Sounds like it may be a general technical issue. Try it with all mods disabled, then post on the technical forums about it.
