Aug 25, 2008Found this one (probably a very small occurrence level, if at all) while I was looking at doing vertical bars (which actually is fairly easy and doesn't seem to mess with the tool tips):Posted in: Unit Frames
Aug 20, 2008If you're talking about the general chat window, that one is not able to be resized (or moved I think). You can hack it by editing your World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<Account Name>\<Realm>\<Character>\chat-cach.txt (change path accordingly).Posted in: General AddOns

Actually I'd love both features within the same chat frame. I'd happily truncate trade and keep party/raid wrapped. There are times when I'm in a party or raid while still in a city (getting consumables... etc). So making it chat-channel-based instead of chat-frame-based would be awesome. That might be complicated though, so it's just an idea.
Keep up the good work, I'm really glad to see Prat being maintained and updated. :)
One of the things I do on my UI is have seperate chat windows for the various channels. Stuff like general, party, guild, whispers, etc are on the main window. Trade is only displayed in it's own window. Then I have windows for party, guild and whispers if I want to filter everything out. Personally I find it a very nice solution to filtering out all the spam from trade.

Per-frame makes sense. I'm still debating on whether to do it at all.
But I'm also not wanting to give up the nicely wrapped text in the above screenshots now that I have it. I just looks too damn good.
For the ..., there is the option of using the blizzard ...'s. I can make it so that lines wont wrap at all, and blizzard's code will add ... at the end of them. Then, maybe use your "expand all" idea. Thats another option. Though, I'm not sure it will be very intuitive to use. I can make a SS real quick
I'm with you sylvanaar. I much prefer the wrapped text, but I can see other people wanting the ideas of HunterZ and the others. Perhaps leaving both in is the best idea (assuming it can be done easily).

The default ABF layout file is about 2k bigger now, so there is more stuff added. I'm just changing some sizes and combopoint positions as I'm not a programmer.
Btw, in the layout, there is a code to show status icon. Could it be possible to hide this when a character level is max? (i.e. show rested only when below max level).
Is there a way to have auras stack vertically instead of append horizontally? I'd say you could do this with the layout, but I think that's something built into the core of the aura module.

What you've been waiting for guys, setup mode and splitable buffs/debuffs! :P
Andreas, how will this affect custom layouts, or will it? Is there more to implement to achieve showing the configuration in a custom layout?

I'm not much into full 3D models myself and where would you want it placed? Inside the frame? Next to? I don't think that is something I would write, but the whole deal is modular now, so you or someone else could work on it, it shouldn't be hard I guess!
I was playing around with ZModDB a couple of weeks ago, and the placement is really something I'm not too sure about myself. The UI I'm using right now (MazzleUI) uses vertical bars and the 3D models. I really like the whole UI, but the maintenance has been really poor since Mazzlefizz left WoW. I'm looking at recreating it. The whole model really doesn't look all that good with horizontal bars, so I'm not sure where to place it. I thought about putting it to the side like the portrait is, but haven't been able to get to the code to do that just yet. Maybe I'll just stick to the portrait instead, haven't decided just yet.
Also, if I were to create a custom frame (as a module) on top of the bars, is it possible to get the auras to show up above that bar instead of on top of it? Seems to me like that should be part of the layout config, but the aura code looks like it (haven't checked the latest, maybe this is fixed with the latest) is tailored to the ABF layout.
Aug 15, 2008Looks like you've done a fair amount HunterZ. I should have some time on Saturday to get some testing in. Tonight I have this anniversary celebration thing with my wife, I don't think she'd be too happy if I did WoW instead :)Posted in: General AddOns
Good work thus far!

Just curious if an in game editor of any kind will be made for this (before or after wotlk).
Trying to figure out how to add a bar, text areas, etc is more of a pain than I can spend time on right now.
Andreas pretty much has said this will be done using functions in LUA, much the same way as oUF. Bascially if you want a different kind of layout or whatnot for the bars, you have to either create it yourself or get someone who knows LUA to do it.

Aug 14, 2008I'm new to CurseForge, so there may be a better place for this post, not sure. Feel free to move it as needed.Posted in: General Chat
Kaelten mentioned he's working on the new client. I saw a download which is an exe. Is there a plan to support a Mac client (or a Java client so there's only one)? Pains me to see that those of us on a Mac are SOL when it comes to Curse and their updates.
