posted a message on Addon to show ingame DKP value
    Quote from tekkub »

A little birdie told me you could make a custom set and put it in periodic table, then look at how Mendeleev renders text onto the tooltip and do the same... :)

Basically just make a custom version of Mendy that only displays the data you want.

You make it sound so easy! ;)

But I'll look at Mendeleev and Periodic Table and see if I can figure something out.

If anyone else have some thoughts/ideas bring em on! ;)

posted a message on Addon to show ingame DKP value
I know that some un-Aced addons exist that does this, but they are not quite what I am looking for.

What I want is an addon with these features

    • Ability to put values on items
    • The addon shows this value in the tooltip

So Im not looking for an addon that can calculate the value, I need an addon where I can set the value, and save it.

I dont think such an addon exists, and I might try to take a crack at making it myself, but I could use some help to get started. So can any of you gurus help me with some basic stucture?

Forgive my ignorance, but how do you quickly and easily download from the Ace TRAC svn?

Something like this could be VERY useful.

Im currently using CT_Raidtracker modified by Freddy, so I can more or less automatically import raid data in EQDKP. It is not at all the best way to do it, because of my guilds DKP system and that CT_Raidtracker is so big and heavy.

What I would LOVE to see in an addon like this is:

    • Track date and place for raid
    • Track join / leave time (and join time again, if someone comes back to a raid
    • Register all loot (decided by rarity) and note boss that dropped it (or trashmob) looter and time looted
    • Some way to identify if the item was disenchanted or goes to guildbank (and thus not looted by a char)
    • Data saved in a format easily used outside WoW (html parser or similar)

Then I could make a php-script that parses the data, and shows me an overview of the raid. Who was there the entire raid, who left prematurely, who joined late. Who looted what, and when. Maybe even make an EQDKP plugin that imports the data directly. Currently the modified version of CT_Raidtracker can generate an XML string ingame, that can be copy-pasted into an EQDKP plugin. But all this ofc requires someone to make this plugin if something similar were to happen with AceRaidtracker :)

But a fully automated importer like this is bound to fail, or not work fully as you want it. Call me insane, but I really want to have control over what it imports, instead of having to manually edit the data afterwards.

Then its a piece of cake to update our dkp in eqdkp :)

posted a message on Looking for a rogue addon
Im not quite sure if something like this has been Ace'd at all, but I havent been able to find any, so therefore Im asking here.

Im looking for an addon to keep track of Flash/Blinding powder and easily manage poisons.

I found http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=2207 but its not Ace'd, so before I throw it into my collection of addons I thought I'd ask here of something similar existed :)

Just as an FYI as my next major step to AcePerl, which might satsify some of the minigroup fans. I'm going to take the core or aceperl out and make it it's own addon. It will basicly be a unitframe maintainer. Then I or others can build seperate addones that focus on look/feel of the UI and register their component bars to the AceUnitFrames to maintain the bars. For example if you look at the current code AcePerl.xml provides some basic xml vitural frames, AcePerl.lua dues al the maintenance of the statusbars etc but creates none of them. AcePerl XYZ make all the real frames but do no on going maintence. AcePerlPlaye for example creates the playerframe and adds its varius components to a table in AcePerl leaving AcePerl to maintain things. This means the only module with and significant events registered is AcePerl currently AcePlayer for example has no event registered.

That being said and once done my next thing is to take on Industrials table/grid unit frame idea. Basicly he laid out a grid of 4 columns bu 2 rows. The first column consisted of palyer, pet, target, targettarget. The second row the 4 party members. Attached to the bottom an xp bar. My plain is to tweak that a bit by shrinking any player/party member with a pet's frame down to 2/3 normal and use the 1/3 saved for the pet. This allows for party pets to be shown without expanding the total size and frees one space up on the 1st row. For that space I plan on placing in either a targetstargetstarget frame OR a Mouseover frame. I havn't seen ANY mod take an real advantage of the mouseover unit. Basicly as you mouse over players, mobs or enemies you'll get a full unit frame for whoever you are moused over. Not really sure how usefull it will be but I'm goint to try it anyway. For buffs I'l have a single buff far above the first row. In from the left will be the player buffs. Target buffs/debuffs in from the right and when you mouse over any unit frame the target buffs on the left will switch to the buffs for whoever you mouse over. Thus solving the problem of showing 192 possible buffs on screen. The whole thing will dock eithe to the top, button or be free floating.

This seems to answer my question in the AcePearl thread :-)

What I like about Minigroup is the clean unitframes, no extra graphics, no weird coloring of the bars - small and simple. If you make AcePearl to be 'easily' modified to look different, ie. make it skinnable - then AcePearl is the only real option in my book!

Perhaps I should switch to AcePearl already, and see if the features suits me ;)

I too would love to see an Ace'd version of Cooldowncount. I tried looking at the code myself, but its more like russian than anything I can understand :)

So it seems we need someone with more brains and more programmingexperience than me to make this. Hope someone has time and the will to do it :)

An aced TitanPanel, now thats something that would make more people switch to Ace. Sadly I have close to no skill when it comes to programming, but I would gladly help test any beta/gamma/baby AceBar project.

SCT I've used for a long time but I'm hopeing to eleminate the need for it with som of the other things I'm working on.

That sounds very interesting, is that something you'd like to explain more, or is it only "something I'm planning on starting to begin thinking about" ? :)

posted a message on Unit Frames
Im using Minigroup - and actually I dont notice any lag. Maybe because I've been using for a long time and gotten used to it, or perhaps because I use Benecast to cast my spells, and thus dont have to switch targets to groupmembers.

Now that we have this talk about UnitFrames. Rowne and Kaelten wrote about a UnitFrame project over at Cursed-Gaming (think it was in the Timex comments) - is that something you guys have been working on, or was it just an idea?

I would be happy to help test them if the project ever got far enough to have something worth testing :)

I really respect your addons (and Ace in general) as the best addons out there, so it would be awsome to get UnitFrames along the same lines. Minimalistic, small clean code, but stil flexible and usefull.

... and now more coffee :)
