    Quote from Arrowmaster
I think Cartographer(2) is a perfect example of how the plugin system is a failure and the only proper way to do things is seperate stand alone addons. Almost every module for Cart2 is abandoned and broken in some way. And people will not write new plugins for Cart2 because they either don't use it or don't want to restrict their users to having to use it.

I'm almost tempted to suggest a "LibMapBroker". Not really, but I'm half asleep and figured I'd attempt to be funny since LDB is working for the plugin issue FuBar created. :)

Wouldnt it be better if they were INSIDE the ZOMGBuffs folder?

Modularity. They are never loaded into memory until needed, and can be completely disabled to never load.

I have been trying to work with no actionbars and solely use keybinds. So far, it's working rather well. But I've encountered 2 small issues.

Global cooldown for the spammage, and then range/mana.

Just spotted http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11067-1.0.html for your GCD problem. No idea if it actually works, if it's super sexy, or anything - just set off bells in my head when I read its description, and here I came. :)

    Quote from Starinnia
Part of me really wishes that the Curse Client was open source, I think I miss that most about WAU. Although at the same time I understand why Curse would want to keep the CC proprietary, since it does some server handshaking and thats something that should probably stay in-house.

Openssh does handshaking, and is open-source.

    Quote from Starinnia
I think the biggest problem with the CC is that you have two diametrically opposed user bases using the same product, yet it seems like it is only being developed for one of those bases. On the one side you have average users who want a simple way to keep addons updated and most likely don't care about the stuff the CC does in the background. And on the other hand there are the developers (and power-users) at wowace that want something rather small that only updates addons and doesn't automate certain processes the average user does not want to see. It's like the people that want the computer to just work and the people that want to see the computer working and be able to tweak it until it works optimally.

I know eventually the CC will be a finished and polished product, my only hope is that certain of the "working as intended" features are addressed and made optional for the more advanced user base.

I have nothing to add to that. I can only nod.

Also, in addition to the issues with the site logging me out, about 1/10th of the time after I type a post and hit submit, I just get a blank page. There's no HTML content, and no redirect, and the post is not submitted. Going back, copying the post text, reloading the page, pasting the post text, and submitting again correctly submits the post.

I'm thinking that may be a result of the authentication server and your personal status. As a moderator, you have more "power" than a regular user and therefore require a different security clearance. I may be wrong.

I had an issue setting my avatar for the forums. I had to do it about five times before it would take. I still can't set my avatar for the projects page...and am of the opinion that maybe I should be able to recycle my forum avatar. At any rate, until I can do something that simple I am certainly not going to go through the process of attempting to submit any code...

Quoting this issue, and I disagree that it's minor. Having to scroll up on every page to return to the parent fora is a pain in the ass, especially when I'm viewing 40 posts per page.

Until they fix that issue, you can hit the "Home" key to return to the top of the page.

posted a message on API for Addons
I posit that anyone who has written an addon that they think would be eligible for extensions should have an official Forum thread dedicated to the discussion of its API. I know there are many out there which can be extended upon (via LDB, FuBar (hopefully someday LDB), etc), and which currently have no documented way of doing so and are thereby "find it and make your mark".

Main contenders, AFAIK: oUF. I know Haste has decided to move the official thread off of the Ace forums, but I do know I saw an informitive and lengthy thread on the howto and how-not-to for it.

My thinking is that other addons (whether or not their author realizes it) may benefit the community as a whole by having a discussion of their (existing or yet possible) API and possibly having it incorporated into a Wiki.

You need to enable thorns from the tooltip from minimap icon. Then the tickboxes will appear.

Are you planning on LDB support? I'm using Fubar2DataBroker and would prefer a native application. If you have no plans for support, let me know and I'll do it myself - albeit without Tablet support...

It was launched several months ago... given that none of the ~150 addons I use have translations for esMX, and that I've never found anyone who uses the esMX client, I don't think it's wildly popular.

Either that, or they're all suffering under esEs clients :)

Well, I didn't even know they (Blizz) had made a distinction. Perhaps they'll get a dutch client too :P Not that I'd use it, but oh well.

I'm pretty sure esMX is an ISO (International Standards Organization) denomination. :)

I did miss your post. I would be fine with an icon in this limited case if the icon were at the end of the thread title where it were more noticable. Before you mentioned it, I hadn't even noticed that icon. I probably saw it, assumed it was just another superfluous icon, and dismissed it, all without consciously thinking about it.

Yup! Without the mouseover tip, I wouldn't have known/saw it myself.

I think the "Powers That Be" at Curse need to read what everyone is saying. Your post pretty much summed it all up.

    Quote from septor
Yeah -- I can't see myself using this program.

Auto-Updating of the application without the ability to manually update? No thanks, I like to moderate what gets updated and when.

I am using _MY_ computer. I do _NOT_ want other people deciding how it behaves.

    Quote from septor
Auto-Updating addons? Not a terrible thing, too bad addons get overwritten or addons that aren't even remotely close to what I had/want get downloaded because it can't find the one I'm using.

This, I believe, is due to the rush to get the merger done. It will get better (I hope). It should have been better before the merger.

    Quote from septor
CurseProfiler? Why is this addon installing itself? Tracking what addons I use? Yeah... no.

I see why they want to do this. I do not see why they make this a non-option. Again, it's _MY_ computer.

    Quote from septor
Premium account needed to one-click update? Actually that's not a problem. The "fee" is extremely low for the amount of bandwidth that's going to be used in doing this.

Agreed. They are providing a service which requires money.

    Quote from septor
I think downloading directly from the website feels safer and easier. It's not like any of the addons I was one-click updating via WAU were getting major updates that I couldn't live without.

To me, at this point, it is much safer as far as knowing I will not be destroying the integrity of my UI by unknowingly replacing things I use with outdated versions or addons which are not even remotely the same thing. Is it easier? No. However, if this trend does not go away I will manually update what needs to be manually updated. Otherwise, there are other (WoWinterface) places which host release-grade Ace addons which I can update via jWoWupdater.

I must say that Kaelton and crew have done an amazing job of preserving the integrity of the -developer- community, and indeed improving upon the submission process. This is a developer community, but I strongly believe that many of the addon developers were initiated initialy as users via the WAU and should not be treated as anything other than an untapped resource. Right now, I simply do not see that.

Also: since I repeatedly said "_MY_ computer", I will end this by saying that I do have a choice not to use the Curse client. Community-wise, though, I feel that if I _MUST_ make that choice, I've been jilted.

Breadcrumbs at the bottom would do fine, I think. And a linkie to New Posts.

Guess you missed my post in the other thread: There is an icon to the left of the thread name which takes you to the first new post. :) I agree with Phanx: This should be textual, NOT an icon. I wouldn't have known it was there had I not moused over it and saw the popup.
