posted a message on GatherMate2_Data - Collaborative Data Gathering

That's just it, the link is dead; I can't upload anything, even though I have much more data now, especially since I started Archeology and am questing and gathering on the Broken Shore.

I do upload to WowDB and Wowhead via the Twitch app and Wowhead Client, but Nevcairiel hasn't parsed the data in quite some time.

In the Twitch app (used to be Curse App, and Curse Client before that) click the big cogwheel at the client's top right, then Settings, Addons, General (not game specific) and at the bottom enable WowDB Profiler. I am not 100% certain this is working, and I did send a bug report to Twitch/Curse because it says last updated "never".

To use the Wowhead Client, all you have to do is install it, and it adds a new addon which gathers data. Check the client's settings on how and when you want to upload, whether automatically upon game exit, or manually when you remember.

The only other method of updating GatherMate2_Data is spamming poor Nevcairiel with file links from your Dropboxes, but I am fairly sure he would not appreciate that.

posted a message on Global tables

Your attachment is empty. I assume you are talking about

    local name, addon = ...

Just like it looks, these are local variables. name is the actual string name of your addon, like "Bartender4" or "SmartRes2" and it comes from the folder name within Interface\AddOns; addon is a table used for passing information to all Lua files in the same addon. You could pass localization via addon.L or use it for registering events or functions. It would be the same as writing

    local name = "MyAddOnName"
    local addon = {}

Being variables, you can name them whatever you wish, and they are local to your addon.

posted a message on Incorrect download counts

I was checking up on my Author Reward Points after tagging new versions of AdiBags_Hearthstones and SmartRes2. Yay for more points because people have installed the new versions!

However, the correlating number of downloads is surprisingly low. The 7.1-release3 build of SmartRes2 says 805 which might be correct, but doesn't match the jump in ARPs.

And build 7.1-release6 of Hearthstones is ... 17?!? That definitely is not matching up to the increase in ARPs.

posted a message on Invalid value for "key" localization parameter (enUS)

Also, while it is okay to translate the title if you so wish, keep in mind that it is the name of your AddOn; it is a proper noun, as it were. You'd never tranlate "Red Hat Linux" to "Chappeu Rouge du Linux" in French. In French, it is still called "Red Hat Linux" because that is its name. Same with the company Apple. It is not called Pomme in French.

Same goes for Crazy Arrow Hide. That is the name. I do translate the Notes field, as do some other authors, but many others do not. Since the Notes show up in tooltips via the character select --> AddOns button, and in game via Esc --> AddOns, I personally think localizing the notes is a good thing.

posted a message on Invalid value for "key" localization parameter (enUS)

I just looked at your ToC keys for the localization, and you don't have anything for "Crazy Arrow Hide", so it is saying invalid key because that key simply does not exist in your table.

Which addon, and post your development version of your toc code.

posted a message on GatherMate2_Data - Collaborative Data Gathering

Using GM2's options, you might have enabled all the tickboxes, but what about the drop down options "Show with" ... profession/tracking/etc? For example, if your character is an herbalist, and you have the drop down to show when tracking, yet you disabled the tracking of herbs via the minimap, then nothing will show.

Also, if you have a Broker display like NinjaPanel, ChocolateBar, TitanPanel, etc, there is a GatherMate2 plugin that looks like a poppy. If you mouse over that, the tooltip shows options to show/hide icons on the minimap and world map. Perhaps you have entirely hidden the icons.

posted a message on Spell Replacements and GetSpellInfo

Just curious... Yes, some spells have been replaced, but why would you want to know which spells have been removed? I'm asking because the new spells do not match up to the old spells; they have different effects. And some of the old spells are not even in the game anymore.

No. Curse, Curseforge, Wowace, and all related websites are Official Blizzard Fan Sites, and that means supporting private servers is against the Terms of Use for World of Warcraft.

You will get zero support unless/until you play on live servers and use current addons.

On a side note is it normal that after I press import, I can't press it anymore before relogging?

Yes, because you have already imported everything.

posted a message on first addon, trouble with minimap button

The easiest way is to use LibDBIcon-1.0, although I think it assumes you are also using LibDataBroker-1.1.

posted a message on First add-on, trouble with code that does not seem to run

Create your own frame, register the events to that, and in the function handler, hide your minimap and chat frames. Do not attach the event script to the minimap cluster.

Also, why are you setting the alpha to chatframe2 to 0, and if that is necessary, where are restoring the alpha to 1?

posted a message on [Guide] New projects, and missing tags, branches, and trunk folders

Use either Windows Explorer or the Mac Finder to go your World of Warcraft folder. Inside that, you will see Interface, along with Cache, WTF, Logs, and other stuff. Inside Interface is the AddOns folder.

I would tell you where your World of Warcraft folder is, but that could be very different user to user. On Windows, the generic path is C:\Program Files(x86)\World of Warcraft, but some people have installed the game elsewhere.

On the Mac, I know you can right-click the WoW icon to start browsing into the folder structure of the game, but I do not remember the exact steps because I currently do not own a Mac.

The other method to find your AddOns folder is via the Curse App (same trick as the v5 Curse Client); RIGHT click any AddOn in your installed list and select "Browse Folders..." which will open that AddOn's folder. Then just go up one level in your folder tree.

For example, if I right-clicked AdiBags, Explorer or Finder would open right to World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\AdiBags, and then I'd go up one level to see all my installed AddOns. You know you have found the correct folder when you see about two dozen folders starting with the name "Blizzard_".

    Hopefully that helps.

posted a message on Gathermate2 is broken

The herbs, mines, fish, mana crystals, etc, etc are not in random places. They spawn in the exact same locations every time. That does not mean that any given node is active, and no addon can tell you when a node goes active. You have to actually go to the location to look for yourself.

Yes, Suramar is really bad for locations that are easy to find. Azsuna is worse with Aethril, as there are a few nodes of those that are under rocks and trees.

Yes, data is saved elsewhere, and not in the addon folders themselves. For GatherMate2, it is stored in World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\your_account_name\SavedVariables. You are looking for a file called GatherMate2.lua. If you delete that, it will reset the addon.

I haven't tried it yet, but there is a SVN plugin for VS Code. https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=cdsama.tortoise-svn-for-vscode
