Jan 2, 2011Figured I would bring this question to the more knowledgeable Lua programmers.Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
I hook the GameTooltip "OnTooltipSetItem" using GameTooltip:HookScript.
It works great, although after inserting a print command to see how often the passed function got called, Im ... puzzled. Basically whenever I mouse over an item in my inventory or bags, and remain mousing over it (for example to actually read the tooltip info lol) it keeps calling the script over and over again, until I stop mousing over.
Is this really how its supposed to be? It seems extraordinary inefficent, so I figured it might be me doing something wrong somewhere ><
Appreciate any help :)

Is there something I'm not getting regarding the WowAce websites search function?
I have ran into mods here, which is inaccessible through the Addons->Filter and the global "search" box of WowAce. But if you see them in the Addons list, or know the direct URL, you can find them.
One of those mods happen to be my own, ShinyStats.
If I search for ShinyStats I get 2 "knowledge base" posts concerning it. No link to the actual addon page. If I try to filter the addon list for it, no results found.
Im wondering if this is basically me misunderstanding something here, or if I have failed to set some secret setting of the project to make it searchable?
Dec 10, 2010Probably Carbonite hides the default blizzard quest tracker, which in turn hides the quest "on-the-fly" turn in "popup", as you call it, as it is part of the blizzard tracker.Posted in: AddOn HELP!
Had same issue with BetterQuest.
I guess all you can do is to go with the original quest tracker by blizzard while waiting for an update of your questing addon :)
Dec 4, 2010Done!Posted in: AddOn HELP!
Thanks alot for your effort! I also added you as Translator (should give you some elevated permissions), but what it means in effect, im not sure, so you will have to find out :)
Let me know how it works!
Dec 3, 2010@X-Buzz: Im not quite sure how it works either im afraid, but a good start is probably to check out the "Localization" tab of ShinyStats, I think you can choose deDE there and start sending in translations :DPosted in: AddOn HELP!
@Ydrisselle: Woot another StatStain fan! :D
ShinyStats now contains a config dialog accessible through /shiny config
No more LUA editing to change colors! (i hope ... )
Nov 30, 2010Hi Buzz,Posted in: AddOn HELP!
After noticing Im not the only person interested in such an addon I decided to release it and try to keep it updated.
I have created a project here at WoWAce, ShinyStats, which is currently awaiting approval (not sure how long this takes). But as of now you can download it from WoWInterface.
ShinyStats only support enUS as of now but if you would want to help me localize it to deDE that shouldnt be a problem!
Nov 23, 2010As mentioned in the subject, a mod called StatStain, written somewhere in 2007 by Nymbia (abandoned in 2008), could do with some love.Posted in: AddOn HELP!
Im a mod-o-holic at consumer level and love this addon, but unfortunately it has been abandoned many years ago and its now facing bigger issues than a simple noob (me) adding a line of text here and there can fix.
Why Im posting
I basically wonder if anyone would like the challenge of sorting this mess out, or rewriting a new one with similar functionality? I think it would end up as a pretty small addon and a quick job for anyone with the correct skills (not me).
You can download it from its old WoW Interface page here
What it does
It allows the user to specify which colors to use for the various stats in item tooltips (including other mods tooltips, at least it used to...).
Here is a picture to describe it.
Some of the bugs
- It causes tooltip information coming from other addons to be duplicated.
- The configuring of colors (settings) is broken.
- Some tooltip data is no longer being parsed and/or matched, meaning it fails to recognize and color those stats.
