Oct 31, 2010Hey all,Posted in: Raid AddOns
I've completely re-written my TargetForMe mod, using Ace3 libs and added a bunch of new functionality.
TargetForMe2 allows the player to use a single macro to perform the majority of targetting requirements on all boss fights.
When raiding, some boss fights require you to re-target a number of times during the fight, to kill different targets, often new adds that have been summoned.
It's only posted as an Alpha release currently, but I'd appreciate any feedback.
Aug 26, 2008Well, that's the obvious answer yeah, but one of the problems I find with Ace is that I keep discovering that there's functions already written to do half of what I have coded in my own mod.Posted in: Libraries
EG. There might be some standard functions that make working with creating / discarding frames.
Specifically, I'd rather create the frame on the fly (yes, I know, secure frames and all that in combat) but currently the easiest method appears to be to create the frame in my xml declaration and just hide it until it's needed?
Seems that this question would actually be better directed to the Ace3 forum, as it looks like the AceGui-3.0 functions are exactly what I'm after.
Aug 26, 2008All working nicely. Thanks Adirelle! <3Posted in: Libraries
Aug 25, 2008Hey, as part of one of my mods, I want a small frame on-screen, with a couple of lines of text.Posted in: Libraries
Any suggestions on which libs contain best methods for this? Or am I best just coding my own frame functions?
It doesn't need to be dragged itself. It will be repositioned automatically in context to some bars.
It needs to be click-through (ie doesn't block clicking on game objects).
Any ideas please?
Aug 23, 2008Would be handy for there to be a Group command to release all bars within the group. Seems something that would fit nicely into the lib.Posted in: Libraries
Aug 19, 2008I selected libBars-1.0 as my bar library, as I wanted to be able to display a vertical bar on my Simple Threat Meter mod.Posted in: Libraries
However, now I have a bunch of people asking if they can have an option to display the bars horizontally, as they want the bar to display below their character, above their cast bar.
Simple, right? To be honest, I expected that switching the orientation of the group would cause all of the bars in that group to display horizontally correctly, but as the poster above has stated, there is a bit of a mess with the whole width & height thing.
In short, yes, you get a big thumbs up from me if you implement a length & thickness API to resolve using dynamic orientation. I'm currently half way through writing the code to handle this within my own mod, which is clearly the wrong place for it, but I'm not keen on messing with someone else's lib, especially when there's already someone working on it. ;)
Seems to me that overall, it's the following:
Get/Set Width - does exactly that, the horizontal dimension.
Get/Set Height - the vertical dimension.
Get/Set Length - is dependent upon the orientation of the bar, as to whether it's actually the height or width it's setting/returning, but the key thing is, the code calling this doesn't need to know whether it's a vertical bar or horizontal bar that is being set.
Get/Set Thickness - see Length.
One more change I would like to see and that's to fade. Fade is a visually pleasing way to release your bars. In my case, it's at the end of combat, so I do a 1-second fade.
However, the current code fades the opacity from 1.0 -> 0 regardless of what the current opacity is.
I'm setting the opacity of the whole bar group, which works nicely, but means when the fade() function of a bar is called, it pops up to 1.0 opacity before starting to fade down, rather than fading from it's current opacity, inherited from the group.
Apr 30, 2008EDITED AS I GOT IT WORKING AGAIN!Posted in: Unit Frames
Hi, this evening I suddenly found that Pitbull has stopped working correctly on all my characters.
I updated using WAU this evening, then later on logged into WoW and see the following:
1. Each Pitbull unit frame is just a shadowy rectangle, with the portrait in.
2. No bars.
3. No text.
4. The original Blizzard UI is visible instead (underneath the Pitbull UI).
I've had a look at the config options and it seems that indeed I am missing bars and texts (see the screenshot: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v148/StormKnightx/wow/mods/WoWScrnShot_042908_234457.jpg
I tried deleting my Pitbull directory and re-installing, but that didn't help. Typically I update my mods using WAU about once or twice a week (trying to stay up-to-date with Omen :P )
I finally fixed it by deleting:
* All lib* directories.
* All *media* directories (I had SharedMediaLib and SurfaceLib in there).
Then I ran a normal update in WAU which auto-installed the required libs.
The only directories obviously not restored are SharedMediaLib and SurfaceLib, so might these be at fault?
Apr 28, 2008Posted in: Raid AddOnsQuote from seppyk »There are very few details on the actual XML format others than the previous XML exports I've done with CTRT and some odd forum posts here and there from google searches.
That's an understatement and a half! :P
Thanks for the info, gonna go battle with getting the CTRA EQDKP mod working. :)
Apr 27, 2008Quick EQDKP compatability question - I'm running the latest version released on eqdkp.com with the various security patches installed too, but I don't have an XML import as standard.Posted in: Raid AddOns
Could you let me know which eqdkp XML import scripts you have designed headcount to be compatible with? The eqdkp forums themselves have ct-raidtracker and mldkp as well as some others.
Thanks in advance. :)

I've completed Black Temple. And we DO use Nightfall.
Then please, go find your raid member who is using it and slap them upside the head and make them equip a decent weapon! Maybe buy them a calculator for Christmas, so they can work out the dps difference.
Yes, Nightfall was a worthwile investment to have 1 spare prot warrior using it on the boss, in a 40-man raid. Overall, it was a good dps gain, as that prot warrior wasn't contributing much to the damage on the boss anyway.
For 25-man tbc raids? No way. You shouldn't have ANY dead weight in your raid anyway, so using this would be a HUGE nerf in dps to the person who equipped it.

However, since updating to the latest version a couple of days ago, I have a problem where, after dragging a raid group to move it across the screen, it gets "stuck" to the mouse pointer and I can't "drop" it, despite various clicks etc.
The only solution is a /console reloadui and then I can move the frame fine. When I come to move the next frame, it gets stuck to the pointer again, so I have to reload again.
I just tried updating to latest aguf and that didn't fix it. Any ideas?

On the subject of:
1) Options to exclude shield block from the equation.
Sorry. This would just be wrong. Shield Block is such an integral part of tanking that to ignore it is, well, just wrong.
2) Vary the effectiveness of shield block in the equation.
This would move away from one of the goals of the mod, that people would be able to compare their TP value and assess who has superior stats for tanking (useful when assigning tanks for fights).
3) Tooltips vanishing.
Yup, I had this happen. It seemed to go away after I updated some other mods. TankPointsFu uses gratuity to get tooltip info from inventory items, so maybe something going on in that lib?
