    It's Ace, not ACE.

One project including the top level directory of another project in its own top level is not allowed. It breaks both the Curse Client and the WoWI Minion.

This is one of the main reasons libraries like this are a bad idea.

You can't afaik, it uses the .NET OneClick install something or other and ends up getting installed into the users profile directory instead of a system directory I think.

posted a message on LF addon to hide Blizzard boss frames
Submit your patch to the PitBull authors using the ticket system and the ticket type of 'patch'. The PitBull license does not allow for redistribution of the original or modified source. In addition, websites like filefront and rapidshare are considered unsafe due to anybody having the ability to upload anything.

posted a message on LUA errors with Ace3 r913
These error messages are useless, a taintlog is required. This also likely has nothing to do with Ace3 but instead some other addon that is using Ace3 is doing stuff improperly.

posted a message on Combatlog Randomly breaks
    Quote from Nevcairiel
I've seen this randomly happen since 2.4.
Slouken once said its some kind of desync issue in the client/server protocol, and since its random it would be very hard to fix.

It very rarely happens to me, maybe once in 2 weeks, so nothing to make a big fuss about.

Are you sure it was Slouken who said that? Because I had it happen to me very shortly after 2.4 (afaik I was probably one of the first to experience it and mention it) and was talking to Zootfizzle on IRC while it was still effecting my character and he said it had to be some kind of client/server desync caused by a race condition and would be extremely hard to hunt down.

posted a message on Hiding bags (aBags)
Bagnon allows you to select which bags are shown and should be very similar to what you are using. I think the addon you are using would need some major changes to allow it to selectively show only certain bags. Its been a while but I do not believe overwriting those global functions, like the addon you are using does, is safe.

    posted a message on LibKeyBound-1.0
Unlikely since LibKeyBound-1.0 is just an interface to the games binding system. In order to have dual spec support it would have to store the keybindings for each spec which it currently does not do and probably never will do since embedded libraries can not have saved variables. It may be possible for an additional stand alone addon to add dual spec support but if a stand alone addon was created to do that it would be much more beneficial for it to provide universal dual spec keybinding support rather than just for LibKeyBound-1.0.

    Quote from schizo
Pitbull, like all WoW addons, is free opensource software. The developers add features they personally want. It's the nature of the beast.

Wrong, Pitbull (and most WoW addons) is NOT OpenSource.

And Pitbull3 has been unsupported for a long time.

posted a message on UISpecialFrames and taint
    Quote from b0risb1ade
I am working on lightweight map addon and having problem with closing map frame on escape. I tried to add that code:
            tinsert(UISpecialFrames, "WorldMapFrame")

It works but threws errors in combat and i can't open/close map till combat ends. As i understand my code is tainting blizz code and so it can't work in combat.

I looked in code of few addons and there authors simply place similar code in addons and it works without errors (e.g. Mapster).

Can anybody help me to understand what i am doing wrong?

http://pastey.net/132471 - whole code of addon.

    *confused*

posted a message on Contributing fixes to an existing addon - how?
    Quote from kaimon
This was the information I was looking for. I could try that.

Looking for errors and fixing them by search and replace has certainly nothing to do with writing addons or "working code". I don't have a clue about the code there - I just tried several things until the errors went away. There was a lot of
    --
    involved :-).

I agree with Nevcairiel. If you are just randomly trying things without having a clue what they do until it works then just go away. If somebody takes the time to actually read and understand the existing code, identify the problem, and then create a fix for the problem that they are sure will not cause more problems in the future then they are welcome to commit their fixes to the SVN repository.
