    Quote from Nevcairiel
Some people have previously written small scripts to sort the tables in the SVs, and then store them in a version control system. I do however not remember who, but maybe they'll show up here eventually.

Note that those scripts run outside of WoW, after the game was closed.

    Hi!

My setup using git and git filters to automatically sort savedvariablies so diffs where only created for real changes in the data are on my old computer though so next time I attach it to the network and start it up I'll try to remember to copy them off it.

However, the change would require that libraries are actually tagged properly. And i don't think most of the common used libraries actually are.

Yeah and half of those were probably maintained by me at some point. And I'm one of the people that can and will harass people until they start doing something right or just change it myself.

But alas I have departed from developing for WoW and thus no longer have anything to do with the inner workings of the community, unless I'm bored.

The problem with these threads is that no one seems to have enough teeth or balls to enforce anything that is concluded. IMO this entire discussion is rather pointless unless one of you is willing to put foot to ass and do something about it.

Are you saying I need to become active in the community again?

Another solution is to create a frame and make an OnUpdate that does what you want and once that OnUpdate fires, set it to nil or hide the frame so it doesn't fire again.

posted a message on Ace2 taint error
It's not random at all, it's 100% reproduceable. Make sure you are not in a city or inn and start logging off, while the StaticPopup is shown letting you cancel the logout process, cancel it.

AceComm-2.0 prehooks CancelLogout() due to its outdated chat channel handling code. It CAN NOT be fixed without rewriting the entirety of the AceComm-2.0 chat channel handling. The only option is to leave it as is or remove the hook so it doesn't error and instead allow people to cancel the logout but possibly break the state of AceComm-2.0 until they do relog or reload.

Sort answer, stop using addons that use AceComm-2.0.

Well nothing in the Default UI uses COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED so you could use http://wowprogramming.com/docs/api/GetFramesRegisteredForEvent to get a list of all frames using it and none of those should be secure. But bewarned you do not want to hook the main event handlers for framework addons like Ace2 and Ace3 because you could cause some serious harm if you do it wrong.

Yes use the more specific CPU profiling features that are builtin rather than trying to do this on your own.

You seem to be confused as to what the reset condition of castsequence actually does. Like most people you seem to think you can use it to get your debuffs to be cast again when they expire. It doesn't work that way, give up now you'll never get anything that works that way.

I thought the entire purpose of the oRA3 main tank stuff was to provide a way to sort the Blizzard main tanks that was consistent across everybody using oRA3?

posted a message on general questions about libs
    Quote from Nevcairiel
When we initially designed stuff, the disabling of no-lib creation in the .pkgmeta was not present yet, so you'll see alot of libraries using the hard-embed + subfolder approach.

In other words "don't copy how a library created 4 years ago does it." Unless it's one of the libraries I helped maintain like LibTourist-3.0 or LibJostle-3.0 since I updated those to disable no-lib creation (I also helped maintain LibSharedMedia-3.0 but that's fucked all to hell, don't copy it).

posted a message on general questions about libs
I've always just used .pkgmeta to put LibStub and CallbackHandler-1.0 in the library zip and disabled the creation of nolib zips using .pkgmeta. IMHO that is the proper way to do it.

    See http://www.wowace.com/addons/libstub/#w_how-to-include-lib-stub-in-a-library-or-addon

And its my opinion that putting the library in a subdirectory of its own project is wrong and unnecessary. I've had to deal with many issues of other authors improperly using the library when that happens. For example LibSharedMedia-3.0 has two lib.xml's because of other people improperly using it.

It looks like you are trying to call that on something created by LibBars-1.0. You should be looking at the LibBars-1.0 API and nothing else if that is the case.
