Okay, thank you. Vuhdo does this and it is a nice feature.
Hmm. Abygail, do you mean according to max health, as measured before combat starts? It seems to me that sorting units according to actual health during combat is not even theoretically possible since, as Phanx says, the release of BC. You would really surprise me if this were being done.
As far as sorting by max health ahead of time, that is theoretically possible, but unfortunately would require a way of doing things (specifically the way headers and frames are created) that is very different from the way Grid is set up.
Could you give an actual example of a specific situation where you'd want to temporarily disable Grid? If you're not using it, you're probably not in a group, so simply setting the Solo Layout to "None" should solve the issue. I can't think of any situation where you'd be in a group but not want to see group frames, so unless you or any of the other people griping about the loss of "standby" can give me a concrete example of such a situation, there's little I can do to help you.
I'll admit it. I miss the standby feature and I guess I was "griping" about it being gone. I will give the layout hiding a go and see how I like it, I just thought that /grid standby was a terribly convenient feature. I liked it because it made grid super easy to control regardless of my character. If i go shadow on my priest, I don't want or need grid there. I can probably figure out a away to use a layout/profile setting, but I thought standby mode was easy. I don't even know what standby did. I'd be just as happy with hiding it with an easy option. I apologize if my example isn't specific enough.
I love this addon enough to comment on it. Thanks for all the hard work.
I just logged back in, and it looks like i can configure it with dual profiles. I will go this route. However, my point is that a hide feature is much easier than configuring profiles for all 6 (or a subset thereof) of my active characters.
I'd think that taking 10 seconds, one time, to set up a "Hidden" profile and select the "None" layout for all group types, and then taking 2 seconds, one time per character, to associate that profile with the spec on which you don't want raid frames, would take less time overall than having to manually type a command every time you switch specs or characters...
I'm on the german client, latest version of grid. When configuring which statusses an indicator should show, there's a list of available statusses. It's been reworked, and does not list the items vertically anymore, but in a "text" way, so that whenever the window is resized, it adjusts the number of rows/colums so that everything fits. But this makes long status names being abbreviated with elipses, and this in turn makes the custom auras almost unreadable, because they all begin with the long german word "Staerkungszauber:" or "Schwaechungszauber:". If one has a lot of custom auras, one needs to mouseover them all to find the one one is looking for. Doable, but quite tedious...
Is this a grid issue? I didn't open a ticket because it might be an ace3 thingie... if that's not something easy to fix maybe you could tell me where to change those translations, so I can put in shorter words.
(Was the explanation clear btw? Sorry, non-native speaker here ^^)
... long status names being abbreviated with elipses ...
That's actually an AceConfig/AceGUI issue. I can set all of the statuses in the indicator menus to double width. Are there any other sections where you're seeing labels truncated?

I checked. When one opens the config options Grid -> Status -> Auras, the custom auras are listed as well. That's often truncated, too, for the same reasons.
I'd still say that replacing those words with "Buff" and "Debuff" would be the best option, it's what german people use anyways. But double width will help, sure :)
I get the following error when I log into my druid as resto spec:
Message: Interface\AddOns\Grid\GridLayout.lua:1004: attempt to index field 'frame' (a nil value)
I get the same thing if i disable all grid addons. I have tried resetting my resto profile to defaults, same thing. This does not happen if i log in as feral, or another character. I am using the latest versions of grid, all and any addons I use.
As far as I am aware, the effect is that group 1 scales differently, eg. if I change grid's frame scale to 150%, group 2-5 are fine, but group 1 is (approx) 140%. I change scale to 160%, again group 2-5 are fine, but group 1 is now at 150%, etc. Reloading UI after logging in fixes this, until you need to relog again. Edit: it just happened with group 2, the rest of the groups are fine.
Any ideas?
This is what i get with every addon (except Grid) disabled:
Message: Interface\AddOns\Grid\GridCore.lua:279: Usage: AceDBObject:GetNamespace(name): 'name' - namespace does not exist.
Message: Interface\AddOns\Grid\GridLayout.lua:1004: attempt to index field 'frame' (a nil value)
Feel free to update the German localization; the Grid repository is open.
Ok, I did so. I also changed a bit of the locale that I thought was better, mostly due to brevity. Hope that's ok, but I trust the changes will be reviewed anyway, right?
I think it's not okay to change the german localization from Stärkungszauber/Schwächungszauber to Buff/Debuff (but I will not change it back...btw: I made/updated the main german Grid localization in the last years - you are welcome to update the german Grid localization). Stärkungszauber/Schwächungszauber is the official Blizzard localization for Buff/Debuff in german. Sure, it's a typical german compound noun which tries to describe Buff and Debuff in german language. Sure, compared to the english words they are very long. Sure, most german players does not use this german words because they are simply too long and complicated (me too). But nobody is forced to play with a german (or other) client! You can easily install the english client or delete the GridLocale-deDE.lua file.
The issue is not the german localization. The problem is the new Ace3 configuration. The Ace3 configuration is technically better than the old Waterfall/Dewdrop, but the current Ace3 config GUI appearance is a little bit messy (in default english too!). The same width for all option elements is not UserInterface-friendly and not intuitive. Some 'order' tags, better grouping, 20-40px more width (or better dynamic width, option element dependent) and some dummy lines can help a bit.
Instead of adjusting the localization to fit to the (Ace3config)GUI, the (Ace3config)GUI (in general or the implementation in Grid) needs some adjustment.

My problem is i download corner indicators, hots and power word shield but any icon only shows as a square and never proper icon.
E.g. Renew, Inspiration, PW:S, etc are all squares rather than icons
Also editing the health deflict colour to light gray and health bars to dark grey i cant seem to do
Kunda, I surelyl didn't want to start an argument over that, I can of course easily modify my local copy and be happy :) I'll just let the maintainer decide.
Purdy, you _do_ have an icon indicator installed, right? Like GridIndicatorCornerIcons from kunda or so? As for color, going to Status -> Health -> Health, ticking of "Use class colors" and changing the color doesn't do it?
For my current UI project, I wanted to go as minimal as possible, meaning that I didn't want to have clutter on my screen when I'm out of combat and at full health/mana.
Long version short: Is there a way (maybe as a future feature in grid/grid2) to hide grid when I'm out of combat. If you look at Pitbull4, it has something like a combat fader.
No use to do this when in party/raid/battleground/arena, but mainly when I solo.
I think the lines of code to add this options are fairly simple so maybe someone has allready experimented with this.
I know you can hide grid when solo, but than I use my solo frame also to heal myself (clique).

Corner icon indicators are provided by a third-party plugin, and this thread is not the appropriate place to requrest support with a third-party plugin. Post in the plugin's thread, or start a new thread in the Addon HELP! forum if the plugin doesn't have a thread yet.

No, though it wouldn't be hard for someone to write a third-party plugin that added "advanced visibility" options. You'd basically just need to parent the GridLayoutFrame to a secure state handler frame, and set a visibility state driver on that.

You make it sound so easy but thanks for pointing me into a direction. I'll look into it and perhaps you'll see a plugin that can achieve my request in...a year or so :)
Before I changed the look of my grid back to pre patch status I could move it easily around the screen because it had the borders and grid tab showing. Now that I removed all of that I can reposition grid where I want to on my screen. The old way I got it moved is have pointer slightly above the grid names but when I do that now it just messes with my camera. Am I just not in right spot to move it where or I want or is this a real problem? I did notice there is a place to reposition grid in the advanced section of layout but that isn't helping me..

really appreciated, i'll try :)
This was my old grid2 layout, would it be easily possible to set grid1 up the same with all the icons in corners etc?

With the corner icons, side icons, and side indicators plugins, yes.
