For now, use a custom layout plugin that automatically adjusts the layout properties based on the number of players in the raid.
Actually now that the visible backdrop is a separate frame it would be possible to dynamically change its size, even in combat, since it's no longer dependent on the layout itself... hmm... I'll add that to the to-do list.
Hi Phanx, is there a chance to have 5 colors when showing auras with stack count or duration? Via an advanced option maybe?
The reason behind asking for this is to track Prayer of Mending which has 5 stacks. I have to admit that it is totally viable to use just 3 colors, but in the case of PoM I think it would be great if I could have all 5 stacks colored differently.
Hi, I was wondering if its possible to configure Grid to show all frames in 1 single vertical line? I've tried a google search but couldn't seem to find anything that worked. Either a plugin or just editing the LUA would be fine, I'm just not sure how to approach it.
You'd need to define your own layout. Either use one of the in-game layout editing plugins available (see the link on the download page for a list of plugins) or write your own in GridLayoutLayouts.lua. Grid layouts are simple tables, and there's a comment block explaining all of the properties (eg. "unitsPerColumn" controls how many units are shown on one row or column [whether it's a row or a column depends on your in-game "vertical groups" setting] so you'll want to set that to 10 or 25 depending on your raid size), so just copy one of the existing layouts (probably the by-group 5 layout since it's already just 1 group) and modify it as needed.
I have the latest version of Grid, and whenever I'm in a flex group (ie have a different raid vs instance group) it shows my raidgroup config rather than the relevant instance config. This is really a problem since I'm a disc priest and use prayer of healing. Any idea why this is?
What do you mean by "config?" Are you talking about your Grid profile? If so, Grid doesn't automatically switch profiles under any circumstances, so if you're seeing that happen, it's being done by a third-party plugin, which I can't provide any support for -- you need to contact the author of that plugin for help, or stop using that plugin.
After the recent update I noticed that, in FLEX, when groups are changed around (like for Spoils of Pandaria) Grid doesn't change to reflect the new groups and stays in the original group configuration.
I can confirm this bug. Flex groups are not showing up correctly (since the last update, I think).
I believe what Jeniwyn meant is that Grid is showing the groups as they are in the initial raid but not as they are in the specific flex instance group/raid.
Uh oh, I just wanted to post that I have chosen "By Group 25". Fortunately, I logged in to confirm that and noticed I had accidentally set it to "By Class 25". Looks like it was my mistake.
Still, what is the class layout supposed to do? If it should still show you in the correct group, there is something wrong there.
The "By Class" layouts do not group or sort players by raid sub-group, only by class, as the name itself indicates. If you want players to be grouped by their sub-group (eg. everyone in group 1 is shown in the first row, everyone in group 2 is shown in the second row, etc.), you need to use a "By Group" layout. This is the intended behavior, and how these layouts have always worked.
I am trying to get a real easy setup started, that I can't seem to figure out. To minimize the number of icons, border locations, and colors I have to remember, I just want the main health bar to change color as health decreases. Say starts Green 100%, yellow at 60% Red at 20%: no numbers, HP, or anything. Also to have same bar turn color if dispellable debuff present: Blue if disease, pink if magic, etc. The bar reverts to existing health status when dispelled. How do I do that? Thanks for any help.
1. Enable the "Health bar color" indicator in the Frame settings.
2. Assign the debuff type statuses to that indicator.
3. Install a plugin that provides a "health gradient color" status and assign that to the same indicator. I vaguely recall seeing one years ago, but I don't recall its name, and don't know whether it still works. If you can't find it, or it doesn't work, you'd need to write your own or find someone to write one for you.
In flex, I'm running with by "group 15" or "group 25". However it does not follow the groups that you see in the built in raid tab, and it doesn't change when people are moved around between groups.
EDIT: (I thought that maybe players were sorted by the group that they were in in the "mother raid" that is formed outside the instance before queuing up for flex. This seems to not be the case, it seems to be something else.)
Hello.
Yesterday when queing for a battleground it asked me to deactivate grid. Since i didn't need it I did it and thought I could activate it after the battleground. But I can't do it. The minimap icon dissappeared and /grid doesn't work. I even removed it from my files and downloaded it again, but that didn't work either. I'm wondering if I have missed something that can "fix" this.

I'm using the Horizontal Groups layout.
