I logged into one of my toons (i think i had logged into this one before fully setting up grid2) and non of the settings from my other toons are there. How do I go about reseting just mages and not all my toons info since i spent many hours setting them up?
(my warlock, hunter, priest and druid all have access to the same settings and the display looks the same - for my mage i do not have access to alot of the setting that are set as account and the size and positioning of grid2 is off compared to the above toons)
When do you guys plan to start porting Grid2 over to Cataclysm? I'd love to test it out since im currently in the beta. Its like not having crack not having my Grid2 setup atm.
Should we switch back to Grid? Is that even an option?
It is an option, yes. Grid2's name was somewhat misleading, in that it was a separate project by separate developers, and not an official replacement/successor to Grid. Grid is still maintained, though there are a few patch-related bugs being worked out right now.
Plugins are a good thing. Plugins mean that the core addon can stay limited to a few core features that meet the basic needs of most users, while tons of additional features are still available for people who want them.
I'm not going to work on Grid2 for the forseable future.
I'm still convinced that it is, at its core, a lot better than Grid was when I wrote Grid2. It probably still is, although I haven't check on the changes in Grid. But I can't force anyone to look at it, and old habits die hard.
Anyone wants to work on it, I accept patches and will merge them.
Today is the first day that I'm gonna start wow in a very long time. I'm just installing patch 4.0.1. Talented is my priority.

Simply the best addon out there Grid2, icons in corners, sides, centre, top. Simplicity of adding and removing them, I have absolutely no idea how long it would take you to update it just to be usable in 4.0 but i would bloody love it. Grid1 really has nothing on it and using it in comparison just makes me annoyed I can't have grid2.
Someone please merge with this guy and get grid2 working again, so perfect.
I agree that the Grid2 core is better, but I think the configuration design is an absolute mess, both from a code standpoint and from a user standpoint, and I therefore have no interest in ever using it. I also don't have time to either rewrite the Grid core, or rewrite the Grid2 configuration.

Can you use icons such as PWS, Inspiration etc in the corners of normal grid?
Also why is the configuration design a mess, straightforward and easy
Well doesnt seem to work very well going by the thread.
Also when i want a black health bar with greyish deflict like i had on grid2, the lua was very simple to figure out, any chances i make to the rgba code make no difference on grid
Both are great addons and serve their purpose. Personally i prefer the out of the box configuration of Grid2 and i think it is more tailored towards power users than Grid is. If only i knew LUA id edit this myself but alas i don't. I really hope someone picks this up. Its truly a shame that no one can combine the two to make for a better addon overall.

Be patient. It's only been a few days since the patch. Many addon authors have full-time jobs, kids, and/or other things to do that take precedence over immediate addon updates. Also, check the plugin's project page; there may be "alpha" versions that haven't synced to Curse yet.

just curious, how many hours would it take to self update an addon if u understood lua?
Depends on the addon, what kind of changes are required, and how much you know about the parts of the WoW API the addon interacts with. It could be a simple fix on a single line that takes 30 seconds, or it could require rewriting major parts of the addon's core functionality and doing research into new API methods.
