I'm having troubles with the squares going randomly completely-black, making it impossible to see the actual health of a person.
It only happens when Invert Health Colour is disabled. Then normally the background is supposed to be near-black, but still in classcolour, while loss of health causes it to fill up in bright classcolour.
For me randomly, and only on some (random) frames, it goes entirely black though.
See the attachments.
Which frames are black and which are displayed correctly keeps jumping around randomly, too.
Is this actually a configuration issue, or a problem with the Invert Bar Colour option?
No I checked that, it didn't seem to matter in any way. Range is set to 40y and to lower the alpha, which works correctly. Unless there's an invisible second range-status with ~10y, it wouldn't fit. And I reset my settings just in case it was that and recreated my layout, but no luck.
And I checked the indicators too, only alpha is bound to range.
I have never been able to get health + heals to work in Grid2 with inverted colors and I certainly have not fixed the underlying issue nor has Jerry. The current layering and setup is just wrong for this. Right now these are two separate indicators but they really need a much tighter integration since they depend on each other for inverted to work. At the very least they need to swap layers which they currently do not do and their layout needs to depend on the inverted setting.
...mitigative cooldowns ... for all four tanks, as well as some other not-quite-random things (bubble, forbearance, hand of sacrifice, safeguard, dispersion, cloak of shadows, etc.) ...
I added mitigation, mitigation-shield, mitigation-health as group buffs. shield and health are the tank ones, the rest are in mitigation.
I think their home could be 3 squares in the bottom right corner. Either 3 in a row or the classic grid corner-bottom-right, corner-bottom-right-top and corner-bottom-right-left.
I'll have a play around with the changes in a few minutes after I update the relevant addons.
After talking to a friend and fellow tank over the past month-or-so, I realised that I was trying to make Grid2 do everything. While it's nice to know (in a slightly OCD way) what cooldowns other tanks are popping and when, there may be better ways to show this than on Grid. It's probably more important to know when a tank has no cooldowns left, rather than what one is currently up. oRA3 is able to show this much more cleanly than anything I can think up for a grid implementation.
If I take off my tank hat and put on my healer hat, tho', I guess being able to see something about the current cooldowns being used would mean I know when to use my external cooldowns on the tank. Whether the tank is bad and just didn't hit a cooldown, or they're all on cooldown and can't be used for another minute or 30 seconds or whatever, I'd just want to know that something is up or not. Which I think the change to statusauragroup should accomplish.
I guess then the bigger question becomes, what kind of notification should be given? I like seeing the spell icons for this kind of thing so I can see at a glance what exactly is being used, but at the same time I realise that coloured square indicators make it easier to see what is happening at a glance, as far as something is either up or not.
This depends on how your guild does it of course. I'm used to tanks using addons which yell out their defensive cooldowns, and I can see their cooldowns on oRA3, anyways.
My four indicators in Grid are: Riptide (necessary for CH-targetting), Ancestral Fort / Inspiration (if I raidheal but am supposed to keep it on the tanks), Aggro, Earth Shield (so I know whether we got all tanks covered right now).
Never had an urge to add more to it really because all longer cooldowns we already handle via /ra.
I suspect status group, as I just have them in the same corner with my Shammy one taking priority, but ultimately the priority just doesn't matter. They shouldn't really be added to other mitigation though if you want to add them, because Priests or Shamans who are supposed to watch over tanks will specifically want to keep those up on all currently tanking tanks.
Decided i would try out the newest alpha to see try the layered features but i just can't seem to get the options to load up no matter what i do. I'm befuddled as to why. Its a fresh install. Hoping that maybe someone can help me out here and see if I'm missing something:

Hrm, going by how it's a very binary thing, I'd say square works fine for them. Probably much quicker to notice than an icon too, and if you're on raidhealing and just want to LHW the tanks to keep the buffs up, every little bit of speed helps.
But location... not sure. Conceptually I usually put healing on my upper corners and damage/absorbtion on the lowers. So really not sure.
Anyone else got Insp/AF set up in Grid? What corners are you using?
Just wanted to throw out a quick question... After about a 2 weeks break I came back to playing and re-updated Grid2. When I came back my resto druid no longer had the AMAZINGLY convenient built in HoT timer in each raid member frame. I have spent hours trying different settings with no luck...
Changes were made that require a reset of your SV and use of the latest versions of everything. http://www.wowace.com/addons/grid2/ has the instructions as well as a list of up to date plugins to use and which not to use.
Grid2LuaTexts added with kind permission from Shefki and ckknight of PitBull4 fame. Thanks guys!
This plugin currently provides formatting for health-current. Only the default built in formats are provided. Custom LuaTexts and or event handling are a longer term project. I think mana and a couple of the name formats can be ported as well.
I pushed a new set of "betas" of grid2 and the working plugins and options. This should alleviate issues people have with using mixed sets of beta and alpha mods that are not compatible. The current top of tree is not ideal yet but I think it functionally replaces the old "beta".
If you are switching to it from the old "beta" you need to make sure you follow the instructions http://www.wowace.com/addons/grid2/ to get ALL the new versions and to reset your saved variables.
Please download all the actual latest beta or alpha files from here http://www.wowace.com/addons/grid2/pages/main/ and make sure you reset your saved variables before logging bugs. No really. Mixing and matching incompatible versions will result in bugs.
Added http://www.wowace.com/addons/grid2-status-weaponbuff/files/
Provides buff-mainhand and buff-offhand. Note that the api does not work on a unit, it only works on the player's main and offhand weapons. It will only show up for yourself unless blizzard changes something in the future.
Automatically set up for shamans and rogues. Does any other class need it?

I'm thinking of other classes using weightstones and mana oils (do ppl still use these?).

These two are missing from the shaman setup atm.
Should they be single statuses or a group status (detect the presence of either)?
Or should they be added to the other mitigation buffs, or both?

I broke it for shamans and priests. A fix has been checked in.
Any ideas?
