This plugin is made to be a set and forget layout manager. You just set your layout parameters and the layout will automatically change depending on what units are available. The grid width (or height if you changed your layout direction) will auto-expand depending on the raid size, or max subgroup used. If you select you want to see pets, column(s) will be added depending on if you have hunters or warlocks in your raid. Tanks will be shown if you enable the option AND Blizz/oRA/CTRA tanks are set. You can change the sort order of the classes, pets & tanks. You can also change the number of units in each column. For example, you could set it to 20 and in AV you will see 2 rows of 20.
I have the same problem but exactly the opposite :D I would like the 5 man raid layout to behave just like a 5 man party does, with all group members and pets in a single row. Is this possible?
Does this mod or any other mod for Grid offer "By Sorted Class w/o Pets"? I really like the sorting by class capped at 5 per column, but I don't want to display pets.
Just curious but how come you don't want to see the pets? Maybe if I understand I might learn something. For me personally I would never not want to see the pets.
But to answer your question. I would be trivial to create duplicates of all the layouts only without pets. I just need a little convincing before I bloat up the layout menu.

With my ret pally, I only really use Grid (plus Clique for click casting) for BoP and DI and occasional emergency heals (not on pets). If there was a sorted by class without pets option, I could keep my UI layout fixed b/c I can guarantee that Grid will never take up more space than 40 units (i.e. 8 columns by 5 rows). I use eePanels to provide a background for Grid (using the group by 40 layout which doesn't sort by class) that stays at this fixed 40 unit size regardless of whether I am in a raid, party or solo.
Ok, I added in options to limit the number of columns and a toggle to use pet layouts.
There is no way to limit the number of columns when using "By Sorted Class", but if you set it to anything below 16 columns it will default to the non pet version no matter what your with pets toggle is set to. (40 hunters in a raid would cause 40 pets to show... 16 columns).
I may add some more smarts to count the number of hunters and warlocks in the raid to allow more flexiblity when you want to display pets and you want a column limit. Lets test this code first though.

I love the new layouts without pets. Thank you for adding these. The fixed columns functionality sounds cool too.
It now counts the number of potential pets (number of hunters and warlocks) so you could set your options to w/Pets & Max Columns 5 and it will show pets if adding pets will not go over your limit, otherwise it will fallback to without pets.
If for some reason your raid grows beyond 25 people, it will expand though. Nothing I can do about that.
Hopefully this will satisfy anyone, like yourself, who has a fixed area they want Grid to show up in.
While I was at it I added options to warn people when the layout is changed, or when units are being hidden.
I just added tank support so you won't need to install any special grid tank plugin unless you want more then 25 man or 10 man raid with tank support. I don't see any reason why you need a different size.
I consider the new tank code to be beta right now. I haven't been able to do enough testing to be sure it's working properly. But I do know it's not causing any errors for me yet.
My goal is to eliminate the need for so many layout plugins. I think Mokhtar's two plugins and GridLayoutPlus should cover most people's needs.
At the moment I still need localizations to be updated for the new options and layouts I added.
Just made another major update to do a better job at event handling to prevent lag. Also the main tank detection was improved, and I've tested it with oRA tanks and Blizzard tanks successfully.
It would be a very nice feature to get also the ora2 PlayerTargets. This would be very usefull for healers to heal assigned raidtargets.
I will look into this. My only concern will be how to display it. Do I make 1 group with both tanks & playertargets? Do I seperate them into 2 different columns. Do I put tanks first and ptargets second, or the opposite? I never use playertargets myself so I don't know how most people would like them to be displayed.
I reworking the entire mod to be 100% dynamic (this version is not on the svn yet because I'm working out a problem. It should work a lot better then the current version. So far so good. It's causing less lag, it doesn't clutter the layout menu, and it's WAY easier to code and translate.
I got tank support, pet support, and "By Class" layout support. Just working on the "By Group" layout and it should be available for testing.
I plan on making a branch of Grid and including most of these options into the Grid core. Just need to make sure it's working flawlessly before I f-up Grid. Don't want to do that :P
I hope most of you still continue to use and test this mod as it will help me make sure I don't mess up Grid when I start to integrate it.

I've my Grid setup as a horizontal line for group healing. When i'm in a raidgroup the pets are displayed as they should:
[P][P]....
[1][2][3][4][5]
But in a normal group the pets are on the right side breaking the layout:
[1][2][3][4][5][P][P]....
Anyone with the same problem?
thx

The 5-man party (non-raid) does not use any controllable layouts that I'm aware of. This might be a question for Jerry to answer.
Hope you like it.

Let me know what you think...
I tried both the blizzard tanks option and the other tanks option (RA?). I was using +pets layouts.
Our pets were showing up find, and there was an extra column where it looked like the tanks should show up, but there were not being displayed.
I have oRA2 installed and our tanks were showing up in its Main Tank display.
Is there something else I need to configure with Grid for the MTs to show up?
Thanks!
