If you want release versions, get them from WoWInterface.com, Curse.com or UI.WorldofWar.net.
While generally I think is a very solid piece of advice, there are unfortunately a large number of addon authors who do not post release-quality versions to release sites with any regularity, if ever. On WoWInterface, PitBull has never been released, and Cartographer and FuBar haven't been updated since the 15th of March. So telling people who are unhappy with beta PitBull versions on Wowace to download from WoWInterface or similar is simply ridiculous. I think that authors should both post release-quality versions to release sites, and either post backwards-incompatible updates with a new name, or make sure that such updates have been extensively tested not only with WoW, but with WAU and similar. So while I think the poster you're responding to was out of line with his language and tone, I agree with the general idea of his post.
On another note...
I'd also like to see an alternate configuration interface. I love Dewdrop, other than its propensity for closing itself... it's clean, intuitive, and handles both long lists and deeply nested option sets gracefully. Waterfall, on the other hand, is none of these things, and I'm a bit sad to see that in the conversion to Rock, the dropdown menu interface was dropped. :(
I second this notion, you can't even find ckknight addons at wowinterface for the most part. The only thing that bothers me about this particular update is that it covers all the ck mods at once. I've been updating with wowaceupdater for quite a while now and this is the first time I've ever had the horrifying feeling of opening my wow to a whole bunch of error messages and slow load. But I quickly went back to the old versions. It looks to me like the really easy fix to this would be to revamp the way aceupdater works. For example, with authors like ck going to new code like Rock, and Ace 3 also on the horizon, they might need to have a new category in the ace updater to warn people if they want to avoid a particular code.
I gotta agree with Phanx, some authors release their addons exclusively through this site. I dunno that the argument that these addons are beta still holds true like it might have in the past. That being said, there is no reason for some people completely flipping out like they are. What did you expect? Major changes were made, and things need to get ironed out a bit first. A good practice is to check these forums before you run your updater of choice.
And thanks for all your hard work ck, I had no idea you were even close to releasing rock versions of these addons. Your work makes the game more enjoyable for many of us. Amazing job man.
Did a WAU upgrade, logged in, and everything was exactly as it had been before pre-Rock with no errors.
My only qualm is the rock icon stuck to my minmap.
Almost the same for me. Pitbull/Cartographer/Fubar/Cowtip all updated fine. Only error I get refers to a missing library for the druid bar which should be easy to fix once I get around to it. After reading the forums I expected a lot more problems so well done!
The config window obscures nearly the entire screen, cannot be moved off-screen to have a look at the changes made, and forgets the tree-structure every time it's closed.
the config window is scalable by click+dragging the lower right hand corner.
Not sure why, but i do not feel comfortable while editing Pitbull configs. Now with this "Rock Configurator" thing, it sucks as i can't see nothing on my screen :/
Can't this rock be disable and fall back to old menu-style config, just as ag_UF?
BUG Report: In the new Rock Config setup under PitBull->Global Settings->Status Bar Texture the menu that shows up is way to tall (read, I have a crap load of textures) to fit on my screen and does not scroll up or down thus I am unable to access quite a few textures.
I have updated Pitbull, deleted it and do a fresh install, deleting my saved variables 8 times... I can't see any frame at all.... And when I click myself some vague blue square comes up but nothing to see in the square...
Any idea what might be wrong?

i did not delete my savedvars, only have WAU set to delete the old versions of mods before updating.

Updated today. Errors galore with cowtip version 49090.9, pitbull frames seem fine. Reverted to older cowtip. Logged back on and Blizzard's base frames are now showing and pitbull frames (pitbull version 49088.12) nowhere to be seen. Reverted to older pitbull version. Seems to be working now.

I'll update again after new revisions go up.
(P.S. Always, always back up your stuff.)
I always have backups so it isn't a problem to reinstall the older version of Pitbull. But it is just annoying when you update that you can't see a thing anymore.

You can drag the corners to resize it. Amazingly enough it works just like every type of window you've ever encountered on a computer..
You can drag the edges too, but you have to position your mouse between the border and the working area. The frame border is a dead area, unlike any other window system I've used. You have to click a few pixels inside the border for it to work.
I got the sh*t storm of errors that Atheos got. and of course the one time i didn't back up (doh!)
anyhow i added !!!StandaloneLibs and the only thing left that i recieve was the following error:

I just logged in after updating and suddenly all of my unit frames have disappeared, the pitbull icon isn't on fubar and I don't see the edit option under this new rock menu thing yet either.
I updated to the Rock version, had my unitframes gone, got them back, and then I updated again and they're gone once more :(
