Sicne 2.4 I can't make this tag work anymore.. it onyl displays the actuall spec for some ppl (not all) and it soemtimes requires me to change targets several times before it would actually display it for the wanted target.
I checked in th eupdated DogTag help syntax for possible changes and found out it's the same.. it's just [Talentspec] to my understanding... and if I use [TalentTree] then it displays something like "Fire" for a fire mage. Ofc the TalentTree version works same way as the spec version of the tag.
I don't know if this is the cause of your problem, but since
2.4 you can only inspect and querry players for talents that
are not currently able to fight you.
What i mean is, if you would be on a pvp server you could not
see the talent specs of the other faction if you are not in
When you are in battleground or arena, you will not see the
spec of the opposing team/faction either. There was something
about that in the patchnotes.
This is a legitimate issue. I believe it is currently working like this:
If you mouseover a unit that is not in range of being inspected, and then then you or the unit moves closer to each other and you are now in range, it won't allow you to update the talents for that unit for a bit. To be honest I haven't looked at the code so I might be off on this but this is my current hunch.
LloydBates is also correct about the new limitations, but there is still something funky going on.
I tested this in a raid with 25 of miy guildies before posting here.
I selected about 10 random ppl standing infront of me, using my mouse.
So hoover was in place, range was in place, faction wasn't the problem - and still it doesn't work.
I would've thought it was something new in 2.4 that Blizzard changed regarding inspecting ppl like that BUT for some of those ppl their spec would appear if I selected them again.. and for soem it wouldn't. SO I made the conclusion that it is perhaps a problem in Pitbull itself.. opr maybe, hopefully, just my tag.
I display talent specs in pitbull and in cowtip. I find that if a target isn't showing talent spec, its the same for both pitbull and cowtip. Either the game isn't making the data available or an API isn't picking it up. I've noticed it even in a raid standing right next to people and targetting/mouse over on them. Sometimes it does come up after a delay or moving away / returning. Its not frequent, most of the time it works great :)
This issue is driving me crazy. It sounds like some are experiencing it worse than others. I hope it gets resolved soon. I know it's an issue with the Pitbull/DogTag/LibTalentQuery combination as I use TipTac and Examiner and the talent inspection functionality in both of those work perfectly.
As an update on this issue, TalentTree/TalentSpec work for the target frame if I target myself or someone in my group. I need to confirm if it works for a raid member not in my group. However, it still shows nothing for members of either faction in Shattrath City, for example, while within 30 yards.
I can't get it to work on target/focus frames at all except for myself.
I can use the same tag for both party and target and it only works in party.
Even if the person is in my part, right in front of me, non-flagged, I can't get the party frame to show spec or tree.
Reverting back to an older versions it works perfectly fine everywhere.
Tiptac still pulls the data on it's tag, not sure why PB isn't in some spots but is others.
Which version of PitBull and DogTag are you using to get these tags to work so I can finally get this functionality back? I was hesitant to roll back because I figured it would get fixed soon, but it looks like this isn't going to be the case.
