okay here are the pics i've taken with alt_aura, and you can see how everything is kinda goofy :)
my goal is to do this, in this order:
1. if target has debuffs only, show them flush on bottom of frame
2. if target has buffs only, show them flush on bottom of frame
3. if target has both, show buffs on bottom of frame, and debuffs below buffs
normally, when you target and kill mobs, they get 10-40 debuffs on them (raid/party etc). having debuffs flush against the bottom of the frame makes it easy to see. if the target has buffs on it, they shoudl always be flush on the bottom of the frame for easy-seeing. if the target also has debuffs, they shoudl be on a separate line below the buffs, so you know to cure (or to buff strip the hostile).
but here's the situation im getting, and pics are worth more than any words!
pig1: pig ONLY has debuffs on! detect magic, frostbolt slow and frostboltcritthing. they're flush on the bottom of the frame = good.
pig2: pig has debuff (detect magic, frostbolt slow & frostboltcrit) AND buff (spell reflect, the one on the left, the lil circle one) on = they're all smooshed together on one line? no way to differentiate between them.
eye1: here the debuffs are kinda normal but they're splitting lines too early.
eye2: here the debuffs are all whacked out, actually *inside* the target frame somehow.
boss1: here's teh debuffs inside the frame again, but somehow filling fromteh right to the left o.O
friend1: here's me, targetting myself (no debuffs, only buffs) and the buffs are half inside and half outisde the target frame...weird.
friend2: here's me, targetting myself (with buffs and debuffs - you can see the debuff on teh far right) and the target frame shows buffs good, but it shows the food buff (well fed) as a red-bordered debuff? and it doesnt show the real debuff icon at all.
friend3: again, me, with buffs & debuffs, but the debuff is nowhere to be seen on the target frame for some reason :o
Anyway, like i said in a previous post, getting the buff/debuff layout/positioning/behavior set is going to be very important once patch 2.3 hits and everyone will see everyone's buffs and debuffs by default.
thanks for any help at all, either telling me which configs i need to set, or making the mod work with a pre-set blizz default style.
i noticed another update yesterday (10-23) when i ran WAU. here's what i'm seeing now.
playing with the option Split buffs & debuffs, depending on whether it's checked or unchecked, i get different things happening. here's a hostile where the debuffs stack from right to left, then up - even though i have it set to grow right (from left to right), then down.
here's me, with buffs growing right (from left to right), then down. but the buffs grow left to right, then Up o.O. also notice the buffs are not "filling" the entire row, and splitting to a new row prematurely.
here's me again playing with the Split option. (i forget if it's checked or unchecked) but you can see i'm debuffed (scroll right) but the debuff shows up as a buff on the target frame.
