Have you ever charged into a boss fight, only to discover you're a retard and forgot something crucial?
This mod checks your character and gear before boss pulls to make sure nothing is wrong, and yells at you in various humorous ways if you're being a retard. It goes into considerable depth and checks many things not checked by traditional raid buffing addons.
You might be a retard if you've ever gone into a boss fight...
With a broken weapon
Wearing a fishing pole or chef's hat
Wearing your pvp gear
With a dead pet
With an inactive meta gem
Without your hit/expertise trinket equipped
Without an enchant or gem on that new item
Without your profession-related gear buffs
Without a belt buckle
Missing talent points or glyphs
Without your class self-buffs
Much, much more...
All checks can be individually enabled/disabled and configured. By default it checks your gear when you first target a boss or receive a ready check. The addon itself is very lightweight and fast, and never runs during combat. Best of all, the sound alerts are guaranteed to make you laugh!! (not for children or the easily offended)
RetardCheck is meant to complement, but not replace, traditional raid buffing tools like BigBrother and RaidBuffStatus. It focuses on making sure you are doing your job, and not what other players are doing or not doing (if they are being retards make them download the addon as well). Download from Curse Download from WowAce
Installation and Usage:
Install as usual
Left-click the icon to run a check manually
Right-click the icon on the minimap or LDB for settings (defaults are good for most purposes)
Command-line options are also available via: /rc

The edgy name is chosen intentionally to weed out ppl who are unable to laugh at themselves, as that's a requirement to really appreciate this addon...

While most of them probably aren't doing high-level raiding, there are people who play WoW who actually are mentally retarded. The guy who cleans in the mornings where I work is retarded (he's functional, but needs a lot of supervision, and lives in a group home) and plays WoW. He plays a tank, and does reasonably well in random 5-mans. Needless to say, "edgy" is not the word you would use to describe it if you told him "l2 play retard", which is basically what you've marketed your addon as doing.

There are several meanings to the word "retard", from dictionary.com:
re·tard (noun):
a. a mentally retarded person.
b. a person who is stupid, obtuse, or ineffective in some way: a hopeless social retard.
This addon does not perform medical diagnoses - it's named for the second definition.
This addon is not for players with tender sensibilities, it's for raiders who want to make the most out of their toon and have the ability to laugh at themselves. It can also save you from the public embarrassment of berating by your raid leader and fellow raid members by catching your own mistakes early.
There are plenty of ways to make your point that aren't offensive contemporary slang. For example, definitions (also from dictionary.com) of the N-word include "a person who is economically, politically, or socially disenfranchised" and "a hidden snag or hindrance", but I would expect anyone using the word with either of those meanings (even, or possibly especially, in the same context you're using the word "retard" here) would just be considered (extremely) offensive, not "edgy", and dismissing people offended by such usage as having "tender sensibilities" or lacking "the ability to laugh at themselves" would be considered even more offensive.
Those who "get" it generally love it, those who are offended don't.
It's free software so I don't really care what the latter think, and I'm definitely not changing the addon, but feel free to keep bumping this thread for me :)
NEW FEATURE: Retard checking of players you inspect
NEW FEATURE: Group checking (scanning)
Better checking for Focus Magic, Dark Intent, Earth Shield, Blessing of Might
Minor bug fixes
Note that checking via inspection/scanning is less thorough than self-checks, due to
limitations in the Blizzard inspection API. This feature is provided as a convenience,
but for the most accurate results all players to be checked should install the addon.

But, whatever. We can only educate those who wish to be educated... /shrug
