How hard would it be to allow a custom range for proximity? The 6, 7, 15, 30 don't always fit the situation and I'd like to use something else.
If it's a simple code change that can be done on my client instead of modding the whole addon that's fine
It would require adding a lot of extra code to get map coordinates and calculate distances. The default ranges (which can be queried with a single API call) are "good enough" for the vast majority of encounters; the few situations in which different ranges would be helpful really do not warrant the additional code complexity or resource usage. I'd say your chances of ever seeing something like that added to the BigWigs core are slim to none.
Could the new Tips window have a copy/paste feature? I want to be able to paste the extra-helpful tips to people in my raid who aren't running BigWigs. Useful raiding tips like "Even if your Pokemon is a flying type vs an electric type you can still win using Dig."
Consider your audience with those tips. First off, here's an example of one: "You shouldn't be quick to blow off a timmy in game, we were all once timmies and they may become the next main tank in your guild."
I happen to know that means "noobs" in some parts of the world but I guarantee you not everyone does. Localize more.
Also, THIS is the kind of tips in there? I thought this was a boss addon, not a new player how-to-play guide. I looked through the tips, many of them are general "noob" tips that, while useful to a certain population, don't belong in a raid addon. Focus on raiding tips, not one that reminds people to not get too drunk during a run (yeah that one's in there). That's a social problem and has absolutely nothing to do with Big Wigs and what the addon is about. Turning tips off next time I log on...
I don't think there's anything to be gained from this discussion,
but I was a) answering to the poster prior to Phanx, b) cannot disable tip announces on other people's addons (I obviously know how to use the option to disable or edit it out locally)
I find it very useful for me as a healer to be able to see the boss' health bar as a separate 'bar', which is an option on DBM. Cases like Saurfang's blood energy (where i know when to bubble to avoid the Mark for instance), or Putricide's health bar (which i know about when I should use my divine plea wwhen he switches phases with the orange farts), or Jaraxxus' incinerate flesh bar (where i know i don't have to do a second or third heal to rid someone of the debuff) very useful as a healer.
The fact is I never purposely click on a boss to check out his/her health as a healer, and to me having a separate standalone bar where I can just glance to see how much health the boss has left helps tons. Additional benefits include knowing the boss is about to die (say under 10%) and I can go all out and blow all my cooldowns and lay on hands etc.
BigWigs doesn't provide me with that help (or I'm too dumb to figure out how to).
CAN ANYONE LET ME NOW IF BIGWIGS CAN SHOW A SEPARATE HEALTH BAR FOR BOSS?
