oRA3 still doesn't supply MT frames does it? Until it does I won't be upgrading to it since I still use the Blizzard unit frames since I prefer them.
Yep, in this boat as well.
The Blizzard Tank frames are horrible. There is no mod that, by themselves, modify them. And Im not gonna make my guild download 2-3 mods to accomplish what one does.

I use WTFrames (who's tanking frames) but some people like oUF_DaMT; I am sure there are others, but these replace the Blizz tank frames, and are compatible with oRA3, and overall, still have way less overhead that oRA2.

all of those use oUF
I dont use oUF - and i dont wanna mess with a 2nd unitframe mod for just tank boxes. Ill stick with ORA2, unless the issues don't get fixed obviously.

A lot of standard unit frame addons also use blizzard mt frames (X-Perl, Pitbull usw.).

Fixed? They aren't broken. When oRA2 was coded, there was no MT/MA frames, or they sucked way worse than they do now. The decision was made in oRA3 to use the Blizzard frames to save CPU/memory, as there are provided APIs that didn't exist before.
If you go with my suggestion (yeah, extra unit frame addon), it *still* takes up less horsepower than oRA2. Switching is entirely up to you, and nothing said here is a sales pitch; I'm just informing you that oRA3 w/ WTFrames or oUF_DaMT is easier on your compute cycles.
Afterthought: just to clarify, oRA3 is not getting MT/MA frames, and not having them is not a sign that the addon is broken.

I'm in the same boat as the previous posters. The fact that oRA3 isn't getting MT frames doesn't mean it's broken, but it does mean it is far less useful as a raiding addon than oRA2.
Given how very difficult it is to get casual raiders to keep even a few addons up to date, it's hard to imagine that they would have to add/update/configure an extra 2-3 addons just to get MT boxes similar to what oRA2 provides, if we upgrade to oRA3. As much as I'd like to do the switch to oRA3 myself, that's not an option either, since the two versions aren't compatible.
As such, I hope that oRA2 is kept up to date for as long as possible, and I certainly appreciate the effort that has been put in to maintain this older version. It's been a great help in raiding to know that everybody has the same main tank boxes to look at, and the other features are handy.
Fixed as in, post Patch issues, nothing more. If one day I woke up and read they are discontinuing Updating/Fixing ORA2, id consider changing.
Until then overhead that the mod produces isn't enough, less then 1meg, to make me then run 2-3 mods to accomplish the same thing.
I use Stuf Unit frames, and i can get tank boxes from there. So if push comes to shove, i can move with out hassle. But I am a guild/raid leader. Im not gonna watch 2-3 different mods and make sure all the raiders have them updated.
If there is ever a stand alone tank box mod that changes the Blizzard frames, then it becomes something to look into. There used to be one back in the day.
Memory isn't the issue. It's CPU cycles, which directly affects your FPS.
Clearly for quite a number of people, CPU cycles isn't the issue. It's the lack of an adequate solution presented by the alternative.
It's fine that ora3 is technically superior. In an ideal world, my raid would run it, and I'd have extra cpu for other things, which would be nice. ora2 *is* ancient and I'm sure ora3 is better.
The goal of superior code and efficiency is that of technical people, but most regular users just want usability and functionality. This is not an isolated incident of this schism!
Still, it is not 'better' if it isn't acceptable to your userbase. To the programmers, this is progress, and users that don't get it. Personally, I'm happy to spare the time of my processor instead of my own game time, trying to push unitframe changes onto an entire raid.
For those that need to keep ora2 running, the cooldowns are in ora2_participant\Participant.lua with the Ankh cooldown on 112, and the rebirth, soulstone and DI starting at line 125. See the previous page for a fix for the readycheck issue.
Dridzt, I have latest alpha and is it intended that only Raid Leader can perform a ready ceheck, if so it's not fixed :(
I think he meant that the latest alpha has the fix where every time you moved someone in a raid group or did any sort of other action, you'd get a "Performing ready check" and "Everyone is ready" spam. Same thing happened in oRA3.
The current bug where an assistant can't do a ready-check isn't related to oRA2, it happens even without the mod and there are threads about it in the WoW Bug Reports forum.
r671 still has two problems though. Soulstone cooldown isn't yet updated (should be 15 minutes not 30), and Reincarnation cooldown won't show if the player uses Glyph of Renewed Life.
oRA3 uses the combat log to read instead of hard coded.

I would as a raid leader, hence still using oRA2

I won't switch to a new better motorbike when my old car does the job and gets me out of the rain.
There's conflicting cultures on this board too :p
Half the time people will tell you "stop whining for updates, if it works it works".
Other half will be "omg why are you still using that old thing".
Latest alphas have the readycheck fix btw, no need for user edits.

It was for the readycheck status list.
The "Perform Ready Check" option which I assume is what you're referring to was not touched.
It simply checks that you are a raid leader or an assistant and calls the WoW function DoReadyCheck().
I don't think it needs some change for 3.3.
The latest alpha (r671) only has corrected cooldown durations for Rebirth/Reincarnation/Divine Intervention.
