As for setup - just run through the instance once and then set it up - I set up Magister's Terrace as I cleared it the first time. Don't manually set it up - that'd be a waste of time. Remember, it detects new mobs automatically.
Slider for priority - would be doable but I am not sure if that level of details is needed. I'll ponder it.
An option to set a mob as "kill" rather than "tank" would be nice, but nothing hugely important. (Example: Amani'shi Scouts in ZA) Even if this were just a special tank priority that was higher than max normal (Very High) but didn't count for min # of mobs tanked.
One quick request - could you add a "silent" toggle to MagicMarker? I don't really need to know that I've entered an instance and MM is now active, being able to turn the alert spam off would be a blessing.
Since I do most of the target marking for our raids, one of my fellow officers pointed me at this mod and I have to say I love it. I used it for our entire raid last night and marking was near perfect. There was one situation I came across however that I didn't quite see how to deal with. On some pulls there are a lot of trash mobs that need to be AOEd down rather than tanked or CCed. Mobs like the concubines before Mother and the spectators before Gurtog. These mobs really never need to be marked. Is there some provision to make sure that a particular mob type is never marked? Personally, I'd like it if 'None' was an option right along with 'Tank' and 'CC' when setting up the mob in the database, but if there's a provision someplace else to achieve the desired effect I'd be happy with that too.
Request for alpha testing: As I mentioned I have been in the process of rewriting the marking algorithm for Magic Marker. I initially tried adding it to the trunk version but found it limiting and messy to keep the old version around. The current "alpha method" on trunk is useless. Instead I made a branch and now ask for help to test it - initial testing has been good but I have yet to really test it (i.e SWP trash clear, BT etc).
- Network communcation (the real time stuff, i.e marking and unmarking) not compatible with trunk.
- Marking now has an internal priority list so all you need to move is to mouse over each mob once (or mark manually). Then release the modifier key and mouse over again to do the marking.
- Shared data only sends "this mob was added to the list" and not which mark was used. This means that users need to have a synced list of priorities and such for the addon to properly work in a networked mode.
- This version is required if you want fancy support in Magic Targets. :)
Oh and the database and configuration doesn't need to be changed. This version does add the ability to have a separate crowd control priority vs tank priority and a setting for minimum number of tanks but other than that is the same.
Any chance you might be able to add a small "remote-control" type frame (with an option to show/hide it) for just a few clickable buttons to Reset Cache, Dump Assignments to Chat, unmark selected target, and mark selected target? It'd be nice to have a clickable alternative to slash commands and keybindings to save me a few macro slots.
Haven't tried it yet but I do use FuBar, so I'll take a look at it. I'd sort of prefer a separate frame though since it's more annoying to click menus in combat than regular buttons.
Quite a few of the FuBar plugins allow you to detach the menu, which would make it a "separate frame," provided you don't have to navigate any menus on that frame as well.
That said, I'd prefer a separate frame as well, since I ditched FuBar recently. Perhaps I'll add StatBlocks_MagicMarker to my list of things to make? It would work like StatBlocks_Omen, click to do something, right-click to do something else, possibly shift clicks or something as well for lesser used (i.e., non-combat) functionality.
