... what can we expect before the next expansion?
- They will add a threat meter into the game ...
Then we can really get accurate info and differentiate between mobs with same name \o/
Not really, as you can't tell whether it's (Skull) Mobname or (Circle) Mobname that has been hit through the combat log.
Why wouldn't Blizzard's ingame threat meter have access to information that is restricted from access by mods? It's not like the threat meter will bot for you.
...they answered by saying that the new api associated with the combat log will expose unique identifiers for each target in your sphere of influence. This will allow you to identify each target individually, even if all have the same name. This system will also allow other details be exposed, although specific data that would be available is yet to be revealed.
Also it mentions a simple threat meter. My guess is that Omen and Threat will be able to benefit alot from the new functions (when the arrive, which aint around the corner), and that most users will continue use Omen due to full and advanced functionality even if Blizzard has plans for a simple ingame threat meter.
There's an option for this in the main configuration menu.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the correct phrase right now...
I can't find it :-(
Can't be "Active With Pet" because party members are no pets (and Paladins don't have pets).
"Active When Solo" is disabled, but Omen doesn't get hidden if I leave a party/raid.
Same thing with "Always show Omen". Disabled but doesn't work.
I didn't have time to read through 34 pages of comments, so I don't know if this has been asked before.
Are there any plans to make Omen usable for healing threat too ? Because at the moment is not very usable for healers. I constantly switch targets and often i get the "Warning: Passed 90% of xxx's threat!" (where xxx is my current target) while my aggro not even close to tank's.
Does this work at all on the Mac version of WoW? I cannot find any installation guide anywhere on this site to help me out. I have my omen folder in the addons folder and the addon simply doesn't show up/
Cremor, try disabling "Active With Pet" if you aren't a pet class. That worked for me in a recent version while playing my low level priest. Sorry for not posting it as a bug.

I have already tried this, but no matter how I set "Active With Pet", Omen will always stay at it's current visibility status (no automatic showing/hiding).

Thanks
Coupla pages back now they explained that as of right now there is no way to make healing threat much more useful without way more guessing and a lot less certainty.
Maybe someone will come up with a truely ingenius method of calcing it in an efficient and effective manner...but as of right now, tracking per-target healing threat is virtually impossible.
That said, healers really shouldn't have to worry about their aggro THAT badly, or rather...the tank(s) should have way more aggro than the healers. *shrug* I play a tank and while I use Omen, the more I play tank...the easier it is to judge how much aggro I have on something without needing to watch the meter...and rare is it that my healer goes down unless I do. I guard them, for they guard me.
It works fine for healers, better than KTM ever did.
Make sure everyone in your raid is using Omen, or you will get incorrect values from KTM users.
Sometimes if you switch targets frequently to heal you'll jump between threat on the tank's target and global threat, which is probably causing Hagar's problem. I never have trouble with it because my pally is always low on global threat... but maybe priests rocket higher, faster...
Omen does indeed work decent for pally healing. My druids/priests haven't complained, but we're still in KZ/Gruul content so things may change when we hit the big boy zones and tolerances tighten up.
I customized my bar in Omen to be 150% the size of the others. Being a giant red bar on the meter I don't even need to watch it anymore to know good vs bad.
Not for nuttin, but I've yet to have a single person in my guild pine for KTM after I encouraged them to switch. :)
is there a command that you can run to check the version of Omen of everyone in the raid?
Right-clock on Omen and select Show Party Revisions.
A small request concerning the above. Would it be possible to show only those players that do not have Omen installed or have an outdated version? As it is now, you get a list of 25, potentially 40, names where outdated and recent versions use the same color, making it unneccessarily hard to discern between them. Hiding those with the most recent version would simplify that.
Yes it is possible, i think it's the default behaviour.
It was bugged for me once in that it appeared while soloing although i had set it not to. So maybe that's what you're experiencing.
Playing around with the settings fixed it for me.
(I play a priest btw so maybe it works differently for you if you're a pet using class)
Ok, suddenly it works. Now I have all three options disabled (Active With Pet, Active When Solo and Always show Omen). But it didn't work this way currently after I disabled "Active With Pet". Maybe a UI-reload was necessary?
But why isn't there a simple option which is named "Only show Omen in groups" or something similar? Would be way easier with this.

I was present at that panel, and the combat log question was actually a two parter, the first part asked by the person immediately in front of me(who generally asked about improvements to the combat log), and the second part asked by me as a follow up(about being able to determine who pets belong to via the combat log).
As I'm now roughly 1.5 weeks removed from the panel. The response I received was along the lines of:
"Every unit that exists in the game has a unique identifier associated with it already, in an upcoming patch we will be making that 'layer' of information available for UI mod authors to take advantage of." And that was in turn followed by a comment from about their intention to add a threat meter into the default game UI.
There were several questions asked in regards to that addition specifically. The general impression they seemed to be getting across is that the Blizz default threat meter once implemented is going to be very minimalisitic and likely will do nothing more than alert you that you are about to pull aggro. So if you're looking to see threat tables like KTM/Threat-1.0 are generating, you'd have to continue using them to get that functionality. The example they were going for specifically was their threat meter would be implemented with about the same default functionality you can get out of the cast bars they added to the stock UI in WoW 2.0.
Yeah, and also mods will gain access to this of course.

Just disable the warnings from the menu.

Is there a way to get omen to only appear when in a party or raid?
Someone asked this question above but didn't receive a response.

Active
And then have an additional checkbox for "Show when resting" to provide the functionality of the current "always show" setting.
