The standard Blizzard UI offers the ability MT and MA lists. I think it's time for oRA2 to move over to using them. Hell, I remember battling to convince ckknight to support oRA2/CTRA style MTs back when he first released PitBull. Why should we do this?
oRA2 doesn't have the ability to set raid-wide MTs and MAs. Our raids would really benefit from this. Using the last tank as MA is so Molten Core.
Those who use Blizzard's raid frames (and there are more and more of them each day) would prefer to use the Blizzard MT and MA frames instead of the oRA2 MT frames.
No more calls of "someone please rebroadcast the main tanks" over vent. This happens once or twice every raid, still, even with everyone on the latest oRA2. With Blizzard MT/MA, there would be no more reliance on addon messages; it would be an automatic server query for the MT/MA.
If we make the above change, why not remove CTRA compatibility all together? We banned CTRA from raids 6 months ago:
Just like the ready check, the "borrowed" features needs some users bitching so that Blue will fix it up and people will actually use it.
Speaking of CTRA, why do people still feel the need? Only thing I can think of are durability/item checks and the tanks. Ready check, raidsay, etc are all in the default UI now...
I remember order was important when we used it in the razuvius fight for the mc priests... well.. guess it probably would also have worked without ;)
Ah.. we also used it on fights like Garr so we started with the first add and then went down the mt list ... but that was before there were the raid icons... now we use that for the order ;)
oRA could set the Blizzard MT+MA and send the desired order to other oRA users. That way people who want to use Blizzards unit frames will have MTs+MAs (in whatever order their client feels like, but still) and oRA users have the order that whoever set the MTs+MAs wanted.

I agree, adding an option to oRA2 (or oRA3) to also update the blizzard MT/MA list when setting main tanks would be a nice thing. After all, not every raid frame addon supports oRA/CTRA tanks (Pitbull?), and adding such an option wouldn't hurt anyone.
As for the ordering, I forgot you could set icons on players, so fights where the order of the players instead of the targets mattered (like say, there's a tank rotation) you could just mark the tanks with your usualy kill order (I'm assuming in these fights you have a single target for DPS, of course)

They want the crap raid frames.
Is order important? The only thing we use order for at the moment is to specify the MA last.
Same.

Sure you could say person X's target = kill order first but that can slow things down.
CTRA is indeed buggy and old.

Someone want to bug Ammo on IRC?
PitBull does, only because adding it was easier than listening to me whine.
The only real issue occurs when someone adds a MT in combat. That won't be picked up by the ordered list. Only in 'Blizzard ordering'.
-Ammo
How about CTRA compatibility? Is that to be retained? I ask 'cause NBuffBars listens to oRA2/CTRA buff messages.

Messages passed by CTRA/oRA2 when a buff is gained, refreshed, removed or faded.
