Perhaps I'm missing something (which I often do :P), but what needs communicated? My guild isn't required to use one or the other, as long as they use something.
one of the reasons i drop'ed it for BW, as i had too many addons spamming the chl and laging me into oblivion
Somewhat offtopic question - does addons who use the "addon-channel" to communicate really cause lag and/or unneeded traffic for players in raid, even when player x doesn't have certain y addon? (I.e. Swstats/KTM/etc.)
Yes, everyone in the raid downloads the sent message, so it is using your internet connection, but if you don't have the addon the message is not processed, so CPU power should not be used.

In our Raid we want every user to use a up to date Boss Mod.
Now there are some that use DeadyBossMods (LaVendetta) and most of the rest is using BigWigs (me included).
So now my questions, do those two addons communicate over the addon channel?
Or is it online BigWigs to BigWigs and LaVendetta to LaVendetta.
(If this would be the case I think we'll have to force them to use BigWigs *g*)
In some fights where the area of interest is larger than the combat log distance, some things need to be synchronized.
LAV uses the addon channel for a lot more, though, and spams it back to the 20th century.
