do you see other things in the minimap like marks made manually via cartographer? what about the node icon graphics?
what happens with me is when im out of range, the node icon shows on the minimap. when i get in range, the node disappears and is replaced by a pink circle.
what's happening though, is that i have sooooo many nodes on teh map (imported via the wowhead db) that in most cases, there are 2-3 "nodes" in the almost-same exact spot, so i get 2-3 of these little pink circles and in a lot of cases, the yellow dot is almost hidden completely. so it's actually working against me in lots of spots.
i kinda like how gatherer does it, just have 1 node marked whether it's iron or gold or silver or whatever. cuz basically i dont care what's there at the time. if it's a node, i will farm it :P
I use the square skin as well, lower center of my screen for my gathering toons so it is in my field of view for spotting nodes.
I get no Cart data on the minimap at all *shrug* Maybe I'll try an empty UI with just Cart, my mining or herbalism database and SMM. See if it still does it.
Didn't mean to derail your thread though ;)
Edit: Got them to work by cleaning up my saved variables a bit by hand.
I haven't given it much of a workout, but this should work - you can replace the pink circle texture with one that's 100% transparent. That's probably the easiest way. I've tested this one briefly, and not seen any pink circles or bugs. But not having seen them isn't the same as seeing that they're not there. ;)
Drop this over the texture at Cartographer > Cartographer_Notes > Artwork > TrackCircle.tga. I think that'll work for the circles. The default yellow "blips", so far as I'm aware, are untouchable.
The yellow dots is what i want to see Only, not those pink circles. Sometimes there are so many pink circles over a node that they completely obfuscate the yellow dot, makign it actually harder to find the node.
Wondering how I can remove all the pink circles from my minimap when im up close to a known node.
i still like having the icon when im out of range, but when im up close, i dont need the icon or the circle.
thanks :p
whats really needed is a feature like gatherer has where you can click on the minimap button and it hides the display of all the icons and circles and will restore when you click on it again. This could be done via a FuBar plugin the you would click on that can be attached to minimap if desired or left on FuBar panel. Also gatherer has a grey circle it uses now, used to be green for herbs and red for mines but changed at some point, if you can grab the grey circle icon the yellow dots show over any grey circles.

This works perfectly! no pink circles anymore yay!
Thanks for your help. I don't know why it works though (when I open the .tga file, i can still see pink!) but it does! :P

Yer welcome - it was just a quick 'n dirty edit in Gimpshop (select all, Delete - opening Gimpshop was the lengthiest part!). I see that magenta (pink) in other editors/viewers, but I think it's just leftover alpha channel information, not the same pink as the rings.
Ok, so i no pink circles is definately better then pink circles (sorry to programmer who implimented this), however i would like to keep the orginal icon i see when its farther away on minimap (when i get closer my choice is pink circles or no pink circles (thanks for that btw) but either way i do not get the icon) so i can be standing next to 3 vendors and have no icons but wen i am farther away i see the icon and all 3 vendors are listed.
any way to stop replacing the icon altogether? (im going to try deleting the call function to change icons and maybe that will work)
heh.. id be happy to actually get them to show at all on my simpleminimap. I have never been able to get that to work *sigh*
For me they show just fine, but with the annoying "glitch" that the ones taht are "outside" the minimaop and displayed at the border still goes after the old round map instead of the square/rounded one that i use giving em a circle of "OOR" icons in the middle of the minimap...
Same. On both the thread topic and SMM working. :)
A great feature-add would be a "tolerance" where you could say how close you want data to be displayed. Normal behavior would be "0", if you wanted more clear space around you just move that slider up a bit.
I was never able to get Carto to grab my Gatherer data, which is immense, so I've stuck with that for the info it supports. It does have a feature pretty similar to what is being suggested.

i use simpleminimap too (square skin).

and np!
i wouldnt mind editing a line here or there in the lua files either...

I'll give that tga a try and report back :)

And hey, if it works ... /handwash
That would be a nice option :)
The file
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\Cartographer\Cartographer_Notes\Notes.lua
seems to be the one that references TrackCircle.tga, the offending graphic in this case.
Around line 3,802:
if distance_2 <= 100^2 then
icon = path .. "TrackCircle"
end
You may be able to change the line
icon = path .. "TrackCircle"
to be
icon = path .. ""
and have it work just perfectly. Or... it may blow up.
any way to stop replacing the icon altogether? (im going to try deleting the call function to change icons and maybe that will work)
thanks for the help
