The mechanics and layout of AtlasLoot are much cleaner and easier to navigate. The dataset involved is such that moving to and fro easily is a requirement. It's not JUST about the instance you're in, it's about the data. If there are folks that like the status quo a handy checkbox could accomodate everyone. That's just how *I* use it hence the suggestion.
Not apples to apples, for certain, but I don't have the energy to make perfect shots right this second. Sorry.
One of the other reasons I prefer the Atlas(Loot) display is that it's a different scale than my "maps". When I look at my world map it's my world map 90% scale is great. When I look at an instance map I'm typically IN said instance and have to pay attention to my surroundings. My Atlas(Loot) window is less than 1/2 the size of my normal world map display.
The world turns, I've adapted from the MetaMap behavior (that did what I mentioned above) to just clicking my LocationFu in the appropriate manner to open the map or AtlasLoot depending on need.
Hope this is the right place to reply:
I figured it'd be nice to add PvP items and all those things (maybe even questrewards) to Cartographer. After some digging I found out that actually the loot is defined in PeriodicTable3. Say I wanted to add tables which list "generic loot" (Rep/PvP), and link them to places, how would I do that?
Well Cartographer_InstanceLoot works in the way that it takes the BossNotes, looks for the PeriodicTable of that bosses' loot, and then makes a special Ctrl-click tooltip from that, right?
So basically all we'd need is a new PT table (or a separate mod, but then I'd say we move InstanceLoot out of PT, too, in a PeriodicLoot thingy or something), which lists the loots of say Doom Lord Khazzak, or "Alliance Honor Rewards" or "Shaman Arena Sets". And then I could add some notes for that to the maps, and to InstanceLoot, and it'd link them (for all I understand).
To explain, Atlasloot works better, but Atlas as a whole misses such a plethora of features I need, compared to Cartographer (which is a proper MetaMap replacement, although Metamap's instanceloot was better :P ), that switching there ain't an option.
So I figured, might as well try enhance the InstanceLoot of Cartographer :)
Different strokes for different folks and all that, which is why I suggested an opt-dep.
AtlasLoot ain't going anywhere, regardless. It just plain works better. Anywho, after a week or so I'm re-trained to use the shift-click on LocationFu and eschew Carto in instances entirely.
Not ideal, not on my wishlist, but it works. So I'm happy.
Sorry for bumping an old topic but thought it best to add my interest for an enhanced version of InstanceLoot as opposed to opening a new Topic and repeating all that was said in here.
Has there been any further development in Cat InstanceLoot? Compared between the two, I would love to see Reputation, PVP items and so on added. Just overall AtlasLoot seems to do alot of the things I wont, I jst don't want the memory hogging associated :).
