I have successfully converted the Gatherer database with the pearl script.
Now I have a problem. After a gryphon flight to Darkshore from Ratchet, Cartographer displayed all resource nodes of the zone (Darkshore) on the minimap: it crammed all mini-icons on the large map into the minimap - the outline of the zone was recognizable. I'm not sure if it is related to the "resource icons chasing me" phenomenon, but it cause a drastic framerate drop (from 60 to 15 fps).
1. Click that link and save the image on the page somewhere.
2. Get Winrar from rarsoft.com
3. Drag and drop image into Winrar
4. Save lua files into your Savedvariables folder
Now that you have this and the other links and the fact that the author is working on a converter, I'll be taking mine offline.
With all those herbs I have a feature request ... the option to filter different herbs on the worldmap and minimap (or the option to only disable herbalism on the worldmap and not the minimap, as I like to see the worldmap clean ... but get the herbs on the minimap)
Thanks for the Gatherer databases, gentlemen. I'll be trying them out this evening.
I also wanted to send a big Thank You out to ckknight. Cartographer is absolutely awesome. I was an early-adopter of MetaMap, and have been using it for a long time. I've found it's gotten pretty bloated recently though. Cartographer is perfect, and I love the extensibility of it. Great job!
One thing I don't like at all compared to MetaMap though is the pretty... meh... display of the mapicons and the bossloottables. Not saying it doesn't work, but MetaMap's graphics for it offer more usability, in my eyes. :)
I hated the raidicons as mapnotes icons since they appeared in cartographer ... but the rest of cartographer gets better with every day ;-)
I don't mind them, but I'd like to see a way to scale them (if there already is such a feature, please ignore my ignorance). They could also use something to punch them up a bit, and make them stand out more (possibly thicker outlines, or double White and Black outlines).
Another request would be to remove the black background on herb/mining node markers. By having the background of the square icon there, it tends to obscure things more. In that respect, I like the alpha-mapped icons on Gatherer more.
(Or just use the "old" icons used ever since MetaMap and MapNotes :) )
Seriously though, while the Raidicons have a certain "spiff" feel for Instances (Skull for bosses, hehe), they are misleading. Everyone knows those icons MetaMap/MapNotes use are MapNotes. Everyone has seen them.
On a more useful note - mapnote-sending/sharing would rock. Still the easiest way to point someone to a location :)

I have no idea how much overhead it would add, but:
The latest version of Gatherer seems to have an auto-share option (on by default) for sharing resource nodes with guildies. One of my guildies was mining, and every once in a while I'd see a bit of text in the console telling me Gatherer added a mining node from him.
It'd be interesting to see such an option for Cartographer. I'd suggest it as a separate module from Herbalism/Mining, so people could simply omit it if they don't want it.
Also, are there any plans for a module to track treasure nodes (or does Cartographer already have this?)
Just a quick question: Can I convert my MetaMap notes into Cartographer notes? Thanks for a great addon!
I am sure that someone has asked this before but I couldn't find it.
I tested those and for Silithus the types and locations of nodes is completely messed up.. Showing small thorium and Mithril in the hives... and completely of position to.

Here's something easier. I've hidden my Cartographer DB that contains more items than from gather.reet.org into an image here:
