The Wowhead converted mining database is missing a lot of data. For example there's no nodes for Felwood, Winterspring, Azshara, Teldrassil, Eastern Plaugelands, Western Plaguelands and there's very few nodes for places such as Un'Goro Crater, Tanaris, Burning Steppes, etc.
Any idea on when this database will be completey converted?
I didn't want to lose the nodes that I had already collected, so what I did was manually copy and paste my notes from my own lua file into yours for each zone. The problem though is that I now have many duplicate notes overlayed on top of each other.
Is there any way to have cartographer filter out duplicate entries? I'd post my file but I want to first see if there's a way to clean it up. If I post it without doing so then the next person would probably do the same thing I did and end up with more duplicates.
what we could perhaps do is to use the wowhead.com data. If you hover over a node there you get the coords but i have no clue as to how to actually import them.
I was able to convert wowhead.com data to Cartographer layout, but actually i can't test it and I wont be able to test it for a while. If someone wants to try here is what i got. Be sure to back-up your data, I'm not in anyway responsible if you loose important informations
The mining database doesn't work.
First of all, the code in the lua file is wrong, it's missing the commas after each entry.
Second, after fixing those missing commas, it still doesn't work because in the regular cartographer_mining.lua file, entries are "represented" by a 8 digit number, while your entries have 10 digits, always ending with 3 or 4 zero's.
I can fix the comma problem easily, about the ID i will have to check.
I used the formula provided here by ckkinght. I will check again it.
I verified a few of the locations with my own database and they seem to be identical to the files you uploaded however there are just extra zero's on the end of each entry. If possible, simply remove every character after the 8th character digit of the locations.
Seems to be some issue with the formation from the WOWHead data and how Cart wants the data..
WOWHEAD has it listed as "Copper Vein" for example and the CART info is just "Copper"
For the conversion it looks like you need to drop anything other than "Tin" "Copper", etc. items such as "Deposite" and "Vein" need to be removed (and the space between the words ie "Copper Vein" needs to be "Copper")
the data looks great, but without converting the name correctly it shows as a Ton of "?" on the map.
Just a curiosity,
my .lua files were about 34k, these ones are 340k.
Does it affect anything ? Lag, anything slower ?
I haven't done any extensive testing with memory usage in huge files but I wouldn't doubt that it would increase with larger databases. If this is a big issue for anyone you can simply delete the zones you don't need anymore. So if you just want to 300-375 nodes just delete all zones but those in Outland.
