I have a little problem using Cartographer and Cartographer_NoteShare. I only want to receive and share fisihing and herbalism nodes. But I *have to* check "General" to receive/share this databases.
The problem:
If somebody from my guild shares any of his databases my Cartographer saves the nodes (even the "filtered" ones!).
My client: english (enUK - as far as I know this is exactly the same as enUS)
Guildmate's client: german (deDE)
We made sure we have a fresh install of Cartographer.
Now the different scenarios:
My Cartographer: Automatic shared herbalism, Filtered everything but herbalism
Guildmate's Cartographer: Shared everything, filtered nothing
Result: Everything he found was ignored by my Cartographer, including herbalism!
My Cartographer: Automatic shared herbalism and general, Filtered everything but herbalism and general
Guildmate's Cartographer: Shared everything, filtered nothing
Result: Everything but herbalism was ignored
My Cartographer: Automatic shared herbalism, Filtered everything but herbalism
Guildmate's Cartographer: Shared everything, filtered nothing
Result:
Step 1) When he broadcasted his herbalism database every single note was ignored
Step 2) When he broadcasted his quests database every single note was ignored
My Cartographer: Automatic shared herbalism and general, Filtered everything but herbalism and general
Guildmate's Cartographer: Shared everything, filtered nothing
Result:
Step 1) When he broadcasted his herbalism database all his notes appeared on my map
Step 2) When he broadcasted his quests all his quests (!) notes appeared on my map
You can change the roles in every scenario: The result always stays the same.
If I understand you right the notes are NOT filtered when broadcasting a database. Am I right? Would this be possible to implement?
I have quite a doubt about your meaning of "filtered" :
- checked means "accept incoming notes of this database",
- unchecked means "ignore incoming notes of this database".
So "filtered anything" means "all databases were checked".
Do you confirm ?
Also check you have all the pertaining addon (Herbalism, Quests) installed it may change what is or what is not sent / accepted.
(A little OT: quest notes are stored and sent localized. There is no way to unlocalize them as it is done with gathering notes).

No. With "filtered anything" I meant everything was *unchecked* except the listed databases.
e.g.:
Filtered everything but herbalism = Herbalism checked, all other databases unchecked

I only have Herbalism installed because I don't want any other notes :) Perhaps my problem isn't clear yet: I get notes *I don't want to have* if somebody broadcasts his database. I don't want to see all the other notes (mining, quests, fishing, ...) ... :)

Erf. Well, that was what I meant :)

Ok.
Basically there is only one way to send a note from a player to another.
- You can always manually send any note.
- Enabling autoshare is the same as manually sending each new note.
- Broadcasting database is the same as manually sending each database notes. The word "database" refers to each module notes (e.g. "Herbalism" has its own note dabatase, "Mining" too, ...) Any note that cannot be related to a note database is considered "General".
- Filtering is done on receiving side for all incoming notes.
Now, there may be some issues with the filtering on receiving side, but I'm quite confused because I tested it :( Can you check latest Noteshare revision ? I made some changes but I'm not sure it will have any effect.
I'm sorry to tell you that we still have the problems :-/
I'm at work right now so I can't tell you which version is installed on my pc. But yesterday I received notes only if "General" was checked. And I got every database saved when someone dumped a database. :-/
I guess a lot of people use Cartographer so it's rather curious that only some guildmates and me have this problem. If you have no time or bigger issues on your ToDo list I think it's ok if we'll just live with this problem. But if you have some time it would be very nice if you could check this problem again :)
Im not sure what the problem is, it seems to be working fine for me in m guild. Let me ask the question through do you have mixed lang clients in your guild .. i.e. some in english and some in de or fr ?
As mentioned above: I'm using enUK (should be same as enUS) and most of my guildies are using deDE (german).
I didn't see this as a issue because my Cartographer always seems to recognize the message. It always tells me'Note sent by XXX from Guild [...] created by "quests"'.
Just read your (Kagaro) changes in the sticky topic. Sounds like my problems could be fixed :) I can't test it right now (still a lot of work to be done) but I'll inform you when I were able to :)
Well, I'm sure you don't believe me (at least I wouldn't if I were you): No changes at all.
I reinstalled every single addon, disabled everything except Cartographer + Cartographer_NoteShare + Cartographer_Herbalism, deleted my WTB and WTF folder, removed !!!StandAloneLibraries... nothing happend.
I still have to have General *and* Herbalism "receiving" enabled to receive herbalism notes. If I disable General - nothing get's saved...
I tested all settings by sending the notes to myself and by receiving notes from a guildmate...
I took a look at the source code and it looks pretty good; at least for someone who likes Perl and PHP but not LUA.
I really have no more idea... Please tell me that I'm not crazy and that you believe there's a bug somewhere in the code :)
must be one somewhere, though where is a different story, all i can think of really is that the notes coming in are getting localized for the creator and that would account for it.. not sure how thats happening though
