This November 3, 2016, and I just uploaded my data (herbs, mines, fishing pools, Ancient Mana Crystals) to https://gathermate.freedomcore.ru/

I don't use the downloaded data from that site, and thus don't know if my data already exists there. However, I figure that I might have found some things that other people have not, so there you go.

On your character select screen, click AddOns at the bottom left. In the new window, enable out of date AddOns.

Is this still a thing? On a hunch, I searched for Foxflower on Wowhead, and it seems they are now providing the node pins for herbs. I'd imagine it's the same for mines, fish, and archeology nodes as well.

Just in case, I will upload my data to Dropbox and to Freedomcore.

The version on curse contains a lot of data ready to go, if you don't see anything after importing, then either you imported the wrong thing or you just have the display of things disabled.

Using GM2's options, you might have enabled all the tickboxes, but what about the drop down options "Show with" ... profession/tracking/etc? For example, if your character is an herbalist, and you have the drop down to show when tracking, yet you disabled the tracking of herbs via the minimap, then nothing will show.

Also, if you have a Broker display like NinjaPanel, ChocolateBar, TitanPanel, etc, there is a GatherMate2 plugin that looks like a poppy. If you mouse over that, the tooltip shows options to show/hide icons on the minimap and world map. Perhaps you have entirely hidden the icons.

That's just it, the link is dead; I can't upload anything, even though I have much more data now, especially since I started Archeology and am questing and gathering on the Broken Shore.

I do upload to WowDB and Wowhead via the Twitch app and Wowhead Client, but Nevcairiel hasn't parsed the data in quite some time.

In the Twitch app (used to be Curse App, and Curse Client before that) click the big cogwheel at the client's top right, then Settings, Addons, General (not game specific) and at the bottom enable WowDB Profiler. I am not 100% certain this is working, and I did send a bug report to Twitch/Curse because it says last updated "never".

To use the Wowhead Client, all you have to do is install it, and it adds a new addon which gathers data. Check the client's settings on how and when you want to upload, whether automatically upon game exit, or manually when you remember.

The only other method of updating GatherMate2_Data is spamming poor Nevcairiel with file links from your Dropboxes, but I am fairly sure he would not appreciate that.

FYI, just to be clear, the Wowhead Client is working and does upload data to the website. It takes time for the humans to parse and verify the data before it propogates and displays on the various Wowhead pages. I have no idea what that timeframe is, but I can't imagine it takes more than a few days. The humans probably don't parse the data daily, as that would be an insane job, and probably do it in batches, but again, I have no idea how the humans work on Wowhead.

Now back to being my regularly scheduled Night Elf. No mohawk, sadly :(
