I have a question regarding alignment - both of bars to other bars and also of bars to the screen as a whole.
The reason I ask is that I play on two computers - my laptop and a desktop machine. These computers have screens of differing resolutions.
At the moment I have to have two bartender profiles, one for each computer, because when the screen resolution changes everything goes all over the place.
Is there any way (not knowing how Blizzard deails with screens sizes ect...) to configure my bars so that when the screen resolaution changes, the bars scale and move is a sensible fashion?
Also is it possible to somehow anchor or lock bars together so that when you move one it takes the other bar with it?
I'm going to be getting a new PC and I want to be able to get things rolling without a lot of fuss. I am doing the obvious like gathering all my bookmarks so they can be imported into my browser, backing up my documents, etc.
Is there an easy way to copy my Bartender settings over when I get it installed on my new machine?

Yeah, just take the saved variables from the WTF folder on old machine and copy to the same location on new machine, works the same for all addons.
Actually you can do that to the entire wow folder and not have to reinstall and stuff or for the entire UI just copy WTF and Interface from old machine (rar/zip and put on a USB stick or something for easy transfer if u can't just jack in the old HDD).
i just wanted to let you know that work is underway to get everything setup for the 4.0.1 Patch release, thats probably going to happen in the next two weeks.
I will have a fixed Bartender4 version up, i'm just not sure if i'll manage to get the "new" version finished in time, or just a bugfix interim version.
I won't talk much about what features the "new" version will add, as that might change, and i don't want to contradict myself :p But it'll be glorious!
What i actually had in mind was not on that list. The list is mostly just bugs and minor features, which will surely also be worked on.. :)

Btw, is there any chanse with all of the cata changes that the micromenu will ever be skinned aswell?
University and work has been very demanding the last few month, but at least University is over for good now (yay), and all i have to worry about is work .. however i still wanted to give you guys an update on the state and plans of Bartender.
The 4.4 branch
Work on the released 4.4 version has been slow, and i'm afraid it'll stay that way. It doesn't have any serious bugs, and if those come up, i'll of course fix them, but i don't plan to actually implement new features anymore.
The future
What i do have planned for Bartender is a big new version currently planned to be 4.5. This version is planned to be released for Cataclysm, but once the UI changes for Cataclysm get out, and if it will be possible to easily make it compatible with the 3.x server, i might release it sooner.
The big plans are more dynamic action bar designs. That means, that you'll be able to layout your bars in any way you can imagine, not limited to the 10 bars with 12 buttons that we have now, but any number of bars with any number of buttons.
You'll have the choice to stay with the 120 button limit and use the server-side action buttons, or use an unlimited amount of new buttons that are saved on the client.
The configuration will be split in a "simple mode" which basically emulates most of the things Bartender does now, and an advanced mode that actually gives you access to the full spectrum of Bar layout.
I'm still drafting out specifics as i need them, but it is supposed to be the ultimate action bar addon, without adding a heavy burden on the users performance. This might sound like a conflicting goal, however, its really not that hard, you just have to properly turn off the features that are not used by the user, and all the features in the world wouldn't make it slower. ;)

I tried adding the micro menu to the ButtonFacade skinning list, but it looks just horrible. Those kind of buttons are not really supported by ButtonFacade.

:( I really need to find someway to make those buttons look more like the rest of my UI (sleek black crisp border) they just keep irking me sitt8ing there not matching the rest of the UI :p
Maybe its possible to cook something up with really small eepanels...
A little thing i noticed with the latest release and 4.0 patch is that bartender does not seem to be abbreviating things like Numpad 1 to N1 anymore. Instead for me it shows Nu... which isn't a big deal just a little ugly compared to N1 and N2 etc.. and my main bar was not showing any binds it was still responding to 1 to = but the binds were not showing i had to actually rebind the bar to show them.
With the 4.0 patch and latest bartender release it no longer says on my main bar the #'s that map to the buttons. I am pretty sure it did that by default before and I didn't have to bind them.
I seem to be having a button lock Issue when ever I select button lock, my buttons do not lock. IS there another way besides the main interface window?

My buttons aren't locked either, I've tried it with only the Blizzard setting selected, only the BT4 lock setting selected, and with both selected.

You linked to this in the post I quoted as well.
How could it be? It doesn't use normal sized buttons.
