I often update my addons while playing, if I know that the newer version doesn't have any new files etc. I've at least always thought that in that case an UI reload will be enough (to refresh changes in .lua) or if I'm playing on alts it will be updated when I switch characters. TOC files however aren't refreshed until I restart my client (at least according to wowwiki).
So a) would that method always return the addon version I had when I opened my client and b) would the addon still in reality be up to date if the changes aren't drastic (i.e. add and remove files)? c) can you get the version number with some other automated method or do they all check TOC?
No it wouldn't refresh after a reload, I'll look into it for a later version. Released v5.0.5.6 and hoping the crazy amount of new spam variants is isolated to today or I'll need to do something further to reduce updates again.
I should have figured after v5 they'd just change up their act.
Some gold selling spam getting through. I haven't seen stuff like this since I installed BadBoy several months ago so it's quite a shock to the system to suddenly see it coming through.
I'm not really sure if this is within the scope of BadBoy, but I've been seeing this in Trade and various zones' General channels all day:
<>
(code tags to preserve multiple spaces, though I'm not sure the number of spaces is correct)
I don't think it's just some individual guy trying to sell his games, because the name is different every time I see the message, and they're all the random gibberish types of names that the goldselling spammers use. Currently running BadBoy 5.0.4.9, though I see there have been 4 releases in the last 3 days...
/dump GetAddOnMetadata("BadBoy", "Version")
Guess I could add it to the GUI title.

all the spam wicht contain icons seems not to get blocked

You must be getting rather tired of this explosion of "new" spam.

Also fixed the bot sleep emote spam filter to actually work and extended the amount of lines the chat throttling feature checks.
best translated back with googletranslate i guess...
