As you may have guessed, I'm making my own dps meter.
I'm having two problems I can't explain.
- a player with very low damage done, has also really low dps in Recount. Look at the screenshot, and tell me how you can do 22dps in 3 hits for a total of 7900 damage. This happens in every dungeon - the healer doing some low K's damage, has always nearly impossible low dps in Recount.
- secondly: I'm having a problem with hunters and warlocks. I mean with their pets included ofcourse. In Recount, their dps is always higher. So I did a solid test. I watched this warlock - if he started attacking, so did I, if he did nothing, so was I. I'm pretty sure we have more or less the same combat-time this way, in theory, but apperently not in the addons. Altho I did more damage, the lock still has more dps. Explain this to me, if you know that I almost always started attacking AFTER he did, so my combat-time must have been less than his. Most of the time, we both fought until the group of mobs was dead and went out of combat.
So, not in doubt about Recount's total awesomeness and crazy features, I still would like some thoughts about this matter, in order to make some things clear for myself and my little addon :-)
If a fight lasts for ~360seconds (~6min) and i do a few spells as healer totaling ~7.7k dmg then i have done ~22dps (7700dmg/360sec)
If im not misstaken recount listens for "combat started" to start counting the time, and thats not nessesarely when you started attacking.
I'm sure Recount is smarter than that.
It would mean, if combat starts, but all players get CC'ed for a long time by a boss, their dps would sink into the ground ...
Another argument is Recount can show "Time spent attacking" per mob.
Now, as for the my hunter/warlock problem - I'm just making a guess, but could it be that Recount will just add the pet's damage to the owner, and then make the dps for that player only with his own attack-time?
Another possibility would be you don't add penalty-time for a pet? Because I add 3.5 seconds combat time to a player if his last attack was > 3.5 second ago. But I willl also add 3.5 secs to a pet's owner if the pet's last attack was more than 3.5 secs ago. Hmyeh, I'll have to try that. I always wondered why I don't have the problems with mages and their mirrors, but since I save combatants with their GUID, a mirror will almost never get penalty-time anyway (unique GUID per summoned pet).
You are definately right about the DPS part elsia, it's a really crazy thing when you start digging into it. At first it's seems very doable, but after a while you start to realize that measuring combat-time is really something funny and weird.
Any chance of adding an option so that you can make recount's background solid? I keep it at the bottom of my UI with the chat windows and action bars and it's the only part of my UI that you can see through even when the transparency meter is turned to the highest.
Since it does have a transparency meter and it does work it would be nice if it covered all aspects of the spectrum.
I've been using Recount and Omen together for a couple years now, but I've just started tanking. Recount is supposed to have a Threat graph? Is this a feature that was removed a while back? Being able to see what threat my party members have would be useful.
Ive noticed that the Heals and Absorbs part of recount does not register all of the resto shamans heals. If you look at Healing done and then you look at heals and absorbs it lowers the shamans heals and it appears to have left out the heals from Earth Shield on healing and absorbs. Is this currently being fixed?
