Love the addon but one small addition would make it even better: can u add a tab the combines Healing Done and Guessed Absorbs? This would really make life easier for Discipline Priests... Meter-whores so often use our appearance of lower HPS to decide skill, loots, raiding positions ect and since many of them are unable to add numbers greater than 10 together having on tab on the official addon would be great.
Thanks for all of the long and hard hours you have obviously put into this project!
Here is why I so far don't merge absorbs and heals in order of weight:
*) The module is heuristic and I cannot tell you how big and in which direction the error goes (i.e. I cannot tell you if in any situation it over- or under-reports). The healing stats on the other hand are proper, i.e. fully and directly derived from the combat log. Mixing the two would give the wrong impression that the absorb numbers are more solid than they are.
*) Absorbs and heals aren't the same thing. They both deal with the treat of people taking damage, but their mechanics is quite different. For example a 16k absorb can save a person that could never be saved by 16k of healing (e.g 32k of damage coming in, and the absorb making it survivable).
*) Raw healing numbers mean very little. You can be the lowest on the meter and still be the most valuable healer. For example covering the most reaction-time intensive job (hence idling to be ready for the moment, hence dropping your healing volume). Disc priests tend to be in this category because peak-damage shielding is often bound to specific spells incoming (e.g. Sarth 3D main tank) hence requires waiting for that event. Best measure for success is that noone died who can be prevented from dying.
I understabd and respect your reasoning for not haveing added Abosrbs and healing into a window. However I personaly and i know many others would VERY much apperciate it. Even if it something you dont want to go public could i PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE either request you throw a window together adding the two or TELL ME HOW TO DO IT!!!! please I have 1/2 ass looked at reverse engineering it. but im very new .lua codeing with very little only self taught experience from it, however a quick learner and can follow directions. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help us out. Shoot give it a warning " this info can be comepletely wrong and should be takin with a grain of salt". I personly feel its the most accurate thing we have atm so please grant me my whish all mighty recount GOD!!!! PWEASE!!!!!!!
Just install RecountGuessedAbsorbs, and link both the Healing Done and Guessed Absorbs views. If people can't manage to figure out how to perform simple addition, you shouldn't be so worried about what they think.
Just a stupid question. Lately I've been seeing odd behaviours* for the DPS counting, especially comparing data with other addons like Skada.
I was wondering if this was due to a post 3.1 bug, or something I need to configure/Turnoff/turnon?
*by "odd behaviours" I just mean a precision lower from the one I'm used to expect from Recount
I just want a window that adds the two together, for mere convience factors, yes i could link both, but it would be much more efficent to link one. If anyone can help me by either making one or whatever id be very greatful thank you.
Can you be more specific? I.e. what numbers are different, if you go into detail view, what spells are missing, does it relate to pets, or to distance etc?
Just the DPS global value, there are times when it doesn't go down as it should. For example on multiple trash pulls, I do a lot of dps on the first, remain in-combat (of course) for the second as well, and my dps doesn't go down as it should, while it goes down on other similar (alas less detailed) addons like Skada.
This is just an example. The final values I get on the DPS field are not very far from the "truth" I Guess, but still not as exact as recount usually is, so I was wondering if I messed up with something post 3.1 ???
You find extensive discussion about DPS spread out in this thread and in many other places. The summary is that there is no standard definition of DPS so you cannot compare it between addons, and even within addons you are way better off worrying about total damage than DPS.
In short there is no "true" DPS value. Recounts DPS formula hasn't changed ever and I don't plan to change it. It's as exact as any DPS formula, which isn't very exact at all because we have no canonical ground truth.
