Personally I don't see taunts being very useful as a performance metric. Either a fight depends on taunts (Brutallus, Gluth, etc) and your raid will wipe if the taunts are not correctly executed, with the cause being very obvious, or it doesn't, and the only reason a tank needs to be taunting is if one of your DPS does something idiotic and pulls aggro. Either way, seeing how many times everyone cast a taunting spell doesn't really tell you anything about their contribution to the fight's success or failure.
By contrast, seeing how many times everyone interrupted the boss's spell casts can indeed shed light on how individuals are contributing to the fight.
I realise now isn't the ideal time for feature requests (bugs > features, as you said), but I'll suggest it as something you may possibly consider in the future.
Would it be possible to add a Taunts category, similar to the Interrupts and Ressers category which already exists? We'd find it useful to see which tank taunted what, and when, etc., and which tank has taunted the most in the raid.
And how is that useful?
It tells you nothing about their performance, awareness, availability, reaction speed or anything. Unless you need a timer-list, for a specific bossfight, when each tank taunted what to sneak up on those "No wai, I didn't taunt it! :O" people.
That'd work, like Deathlogs the use is not of a statistical type then, but of a logging type.
But a statistical Taunt tool seems bogus. It's always impossible to match Healer-"power" to their Healing Stats, and even for DPSers it's not feasible to define the worth of a DPSer by their damage stats.
And taunting would just be even more decoupled from the tank's usefulness than those.
During our last Raid our Hunter was leading the Deathcount, yet he has never died. Looking at the corresponding lot you see him drop from 100% to Death. It seems that the analysis of Feint Death does not work properly anymore.
Recount counts deaths by what the combat log reports as deaths.
My view on the priest doubling per talents is that it's actually useful information. On top, removing the doubling would be substantial code, require syncing etc for what I'd consider a cosmetic problem. So it's not going to happen.
I just did tests with my hunter and I get no combat log entry for FD nor does Recount count it.
I have it checked but pets still show independently. I also did a DPS test on a few random mobs (dots only) without my pet attacking and then again with my pet attacking. My displayed DPS didn't increase in the amount of my pet's DPS.

Would it have counted pet deaths under pet merging?
Nope. Merging is only operative for damage currently - though I'm looking at adding it for healing and possibly dispelling/interrupts.
For all other display modes it simply means that the pet is not shown, this includes deaths. I don't think merging pet to owner deaths will ever make sense.
I just tested on my hunter with (a) hunter alone, (b) pet alone (c) hunter+pet. It worked for me as intended.
Can you toggle merge off and on again, and check if the problem persists. If yes, delete your WTF Recount.lua files, and reinstall the latest recount. If it still persists let me know.
The option to keep records of buffs (I think that's what it's called, it's the last column of checkboxes in the options - I can't check the name right now) is not being saved across sessions. I checked it for Self and it becomes unchecked every time I log on.
Speaking of which, what does that actually do ? I didn't see any obvious change.
Is it possible for you to blacklist Traveler's Tundra Mammoth? Every time i mount up, it counts as my pet, so i can no longer see detailed overall data of my real pet. Gets quite annoying as a hunter.
The tooltip always shows your latest "pet". If you summon your pet again after dismounting it should show in the tooltip again after it did anything combat-worthy.
This really shouldn't affect anything else. Merge pets merges all pet damage, also past ones, so nothing is lost there. And if you unmerge you will see all pets that ever were active (and it can be multiple ones as shaman's can easily test).
I hear that vehicle mounts will be changed to normal mounts again in an upcoming patch (3.1?). I'm not sure that adding specialized code to bridge the time is really worth it tbh.

I can confirm this after our last night's Sartharion3D wipes. ALL 3 hunters were topping the Deathcount meter, and i know 100% that there were several people that died more than me. Anyway, i also noticed that WWS has this bug aswell, so it may aswell be a Blizz bug.
It could be that there are combat log death reports to others not to self that are wrong/bogus. I cannot test that case so easily. If anyone can keep a combat log and PM that to me that'd help me to track down what's going on there. Specifically knowing what the actual death count was would be very helpful (i.e. you know there were X deaths and the reported number is Y).

You forgot the two Deathknight taunts ;)

I think priests still get a double death in the record. Once they die - and once their angle form finishes. But both events count as a single death.

Is this broken for anyone else?
Only if your activity time matches will it be straight arithmetic sum. This is intended. For more detail see earlier in this thread.

Hmm, I don't think you fully understood my post. It is somewhat confusing, so let me put it this way:
A) Put pet on passive / no attacking whatsoever and attack mob = X DPS.
B) Repeat but this time with pet attacking = Y DPS.
X = Y before and after.
How is this possible?
Can you link the page / post that this was addressed in earlier? 242 pages is O_O
