I don't really plan to add DPS display to broker_Recount. I only need it as launcher. But that doesn't stop anyone from writing an alternative broker that will display it, similar to recountfu, which I don't maintain either.
It's actually fairly sensible to use statblock_dps. Yes, dps numbers are different, but that's a function of DPS itself just being a poor number to consider in general. There is no normed way to calculate DPS so you may as well stare at any really. Total damage is a much more meaningful number than DPS because it doesn't suffer from the definition issues. Gello, the original author of recap has once written a very articulate post on the WoW forum explaining why DPS is a weak measure...
Edit: Added clarification that Gello is originator of recap, not recount.
Thanks alot for your answer!
BTW, DPS is fairly weak if you use it to compare you to other players, total damage is indded a better meter, I want to use DPS to evaluate my own performance in different fight and/or situations.
Has anyone seen any performance and memory consumption issues with Recount and the latest 3.0.3 WoW. A couple of us raiding in BT the other night observed our Addon memory jump approx. 100% from previous runs. Also the game seems to lag and slightly lock up. All of this may not be related to Recount, but once we cleared our data store and did a /reloadui, most of the performance issues dropped. On last nights raid in MH, I did not run Recount, and of course, sorely missed the feedback.
Sorry for a post that seems vague, but I thought I would throw out a question to others, before chasing a potential phantom issue.
I think I noticed a similar issue in BT last night. We only did 3 bosses but my memory use was up to ~70MB when it's normally ~30MB before a raid starts. I don't have any of the memory munching options turned on in Recount and normally it only goes up to about ~50MB for a raid night.
After raiding today:
*) There was substantial lag (5-10 FPS where I usually have 15-20)
*) Disabling recount or turning data collection off didn't help
*) Turning shader effects off (which are apparently on by default since 3.0.3) helped and got my frame rate to 10+ FPS but still lower than before.
Can people try verify if video setting is responsible. At KJ there seem even at lowest settings substantially more graphics going on since 3.0.3.
I haven't raided after 3.0.3, but there was no impact on my fps in patch 3.0.2, and Recount behaved the same as pre-patch. I don't think they changed anything graphics-wise in 3.0.3, so it sounds strange. Try turning the shadow detail setting to lowest.
Well if its recount thats good new cause its fixable.
Also I did BT last week and during mother sharaz right after getting fatal attraction my fps dropped down to 5fps.
Also in sunwell during twins, after the first twin was dead. My fps also dropped down to 5. But in both cases after the encounter was over the fps returned to normal. I figured it was one of the addons so checked each of the forums and found this one talking about the same issue.
If its not recount I would like to know what the cause is though.
After detailed profiling and turning recount on and off for testing, I found no evidence that the lag is caused by recount. Changing graphics details did help, so I'm inclined to believe it's that, but I do not know for sure.
However the effect emerged with 3.0.3 because I had no such issues with 3.0.2.
For me FPS drop was significant when the combat log was relatively light but spell effects were heavy, such as when KJ emerges after his adds are killed (i.e. mostly top off heals but nothing else in the combat log).
I turned off all shader effects, set everything else to low, except for spell details which I had at max. I had to turn down texture details to minimum which wasn't at that setting. After that the game returned to more playable state (a gain of roughly 10 FPS), with recount activated.
Again turning recount off had no noticable impact on frame rate for me before and after retuning the graphics settings.
I have a relatively weak system (3800+ AMD, 1950pro ATI graphics card).
I would suggest that people who experience lag when raiding since 3.0.3 - especially when spell effects hit or graphics is busy - explore their graphics settings.
Hi. I read through as many of the old posts as I could, but there's a lot of them so I may have missed this if it has already been addressed.
I can not get Recount to work for my Death Knights. Specifically, I can not get the "Graph Window - Damage Comparison" to display anything for the Death Knight. All it shows is a list of combatants labeled "test" and all 10 combats show a start and end time of 12:12:50. This window works fine for all my other classes. As far as I can tell, this is the only thing that doesn't work for my Death Knight.
Recount Version 939 (Recount 3.0.1 Release version)
WoW Version 3.0.3 (9183)
By default time data which is needed for the graph view is only collected for self. Go to the data collection filter setting and turn on time data collection for everybody you want to see. This is very memory intensive though.
