So... I have recently been trying the many buff mods out there. This mod is by far the most elegant and well coded. I would like to make a feature request.
With most buffs, I know what I am getting simply by the icon and it is clear enough to me when the time runs out on it. I would like to be able to have the option to create a group where I get a standard looking buff frame (read: icon with timer beneath it) for buffs that are common for me.
For example: I have MotW and I know it is gonna last a set amount of time. I usually rebuff it when the timer gets down to around 2 minutes or so. In that instance the bar does not help me much. But I still like to use bars for short run buffs or debuffs.
So in short, I guess I am looking for added functionality to create a group that will only display the icons horizontally across the screen.
Is it possible to change debuff coloring to effect the font color, instead of the bar?
I discovered today that EBB can handle target de/buffs as well, and I'm absolutely in love with it again. But I'd like to get rid of the bars and have the font change colors for debuff types instead of the non-existent bars.
Hmm. It occurred to me that an easy way to use EBB's bars as "warning" bars for refreshing buffs or debuffs would be if it were possible to filter a bar based on the current time remaining, rather than the max duration. Actually, I thought you could do that, and was like "Oh! Oh!" and went to try it, but was crushed when I discovered it wasn't possible. :)
Would it be possible to add this? Not necessary to add different times for different buffs/debuffs, since you can use multiple groups stacked for that kind of behavior. This way, I could have in addition to my normal groups two groups near the center of the screen: one for any self-buffs that are expiring (Battle Shout, Commanding Shout, Last Stand, Shield Wall, probably), and one for any target debuffs that are expiring (Sunder Armor, Demoralizing Shout, Thunderclap, etc.) The centered bars would be configured to only show if less than 10s are remaining, say, and would display at 150% scale or the like.
Anyway?if it would be possible to add functionality to support this, that would be *fabulous*. If not, I'll make do. :)
type coloring for names: hmm... worth thinking about but maybe not coming in this version
filter by timeleft: nope, this isn't possible currently since it would require to rebuild the groups every second which would be a huge waste of CPU time imho.
I just loaded ElkBuffBars using WowMatrix ( on my Mac) yesterday and like it a great deal. I suspect that I have the old version though. If I download the Ace version from here and manually trash the old version, replacing it with the new one, does anyone know if I anyone has experienced a problem with saved files from the old version?
Does anyone know if there are any conflicts between this and PallyPower, AutoBar or any of the timer addons like OmniCC, NECB or ClassTimers? I have returned to the game after a long lay off and trying to build a good set of addons for my stable of old & new characters.
I have a young Pally that I am enjoying very much, lv22 and I believe I will need help keeping up with Blessings, Auras and all the other buffs out there.
Closely related to a poster above, I want to use ElkBuffbars, but I also want the default Blizzard buff frame displayed (don't ask). I can't seem to find a way to keep ElkBuffBars from hiding the default frame, although toggling the "Hide Blizzard buff/debuff frame" option in Pitbull makes it reappear until the next reload. Is this an option somewhere I'm missing?
Well, I've discovered that the code to hide the default Blizzard frames is hardcoded, so I've attached a patch to add two options to hide the default Blizzard buff frames, for those of us crazy enough to want to use both EBB and the Blizzard frames.
I have been playing with 'Dock' recently and love its features n so on. Only problem I have however so far is to do with EBB not having a name or something for its frames so that Dock doesn't capture the frames when I log back into the game again.
Is it possible for the Various frames to have a name so that Dock can identify them and add them to its umm.. list?
(This is what Kameril posted in the Dock thread about the issue:
The problem with EBB is that it doesn't name its frames so there's no way I can save the information about it.)
i noticed some people asking about cycircled support for EBB in the cycircled thread.
tho i wanted to post my little "hack" for ebb to make it look a bit more in line with the rest of my ui for those who asked.
i only have basic knowledge about lua so it might not be the best way to do it - it just works quite nice for me.
you only have to put the border.tga into your ebb folder and apply the .diff to the EBB_Bar.lua.
if you want to change the border -> edit the border.tga
if you want to change the bordercolors look for the line "frames.iconborder:SetVertexColor(1, 0.8, 0.6)" for the TENCH color or "frames.iconborder:SetVertexColor(0.7, 0.7, 1)" for the BUFF color. (R,G,B -> 1,1,1 = white, 0,0,0 = black)
the DEBUFF color is chosen by debufftype.
elkano * r61873 ElkBuffBars/ (7 files in 3 dirs):
- hard-include UTF8 libs
- added ability to not hide default buff and tench frame
- should only show Blizzard frames if it didn't hide them (meaning other addons hiding them shouldn't be harmed)
- should be more robust agianst other addons showing the buffframe again (unregistered its event :P )
Small bug in the current version. Upon login and when zoning, the Blizzard buff frames are hidden, even if they should be displayed. Toggling the hide option twice re-displays them. Found the bug, it's at lines 257/258 in ElkBuffBars.lua:
This always hides the frames...should be:
i have a little feature request for EBB.
Would it be possible to add this litte spark graphic other bar based addons (Quartz, CDT) are also using? In my opinion this makes it better to view at one glace how much of the bar is left.
I have another feature request (or actually improvement of an existing feature). Bar colors can be set to follow the debuff colors the author has chosen. However, bar background colors for debuffs always remain the set color for that group. It would be nice if bar background colors could follow (a darker version of) the debuff color as well.
P.S. -- Since there are many feature requests in this thread and they are sometimes hard to find, might I suggest adding your project to Jira?
