instead of setting the reminder to 0, goto Output and select None, you'll then get no text warnings.
I still want an expiration warning, just not a reminder, if you know what I mean. Disabling them completely would get rid of the reminder but not the expiration warning, no?
Also, I forgot to mention but the bars aren't disappearing once a mob dies >.<
I've done some testing with the SV files, if they're set to readonly then they wont be overwritten, so thats all i can think of which could be causing the texture to not save.
.\WTF\Account\<ACCOUNTNAME>\SavedVariables\SpellReminder.lua
thats the one for non-char specific settings like texture and font etc.
Bars not disapearing, hrm... the only bars that disappear should be the bars relating to that target. so if you put two debuffs on "Mob A", but have three self-buffs, the only bars that should disapear when "Mob A" dies are the two debuffs.
Failing that, could you find out the revision of CandyBar-2.0 that you're running? Its some very strange behaviour you're getting! hehe

I only use SpellReminder to track HoTs & DoTs not buffs, those are inactive.
I also had a weird problem, upon deactivating the tracking of Mind Flay whenever I'd cast it, it would quickly appear/disappear from my bars. I'll try to reproduce it tonight.
I'll check which version of CandyBar I'm using but I'm sure it was the latest since I updated it at least once a day.

In addition to this, i'm testing something for the next version. I've completely removed the spellcast event listeners, So SpellReminder is working purely from aura changes, it stops some annoying issues like multiple bars showing for the same thing (For example AoE spells like, Demo shout, psychic scream, frost nova: a bar for you and a bar for the targetted mob).
Chances are i'll find something that it misses, and re-enable them... but as yet, i havent committed this change so it should all work as normal.
i'd like so much to have ONLY the reminders about 30 seconds left, textual and sound..
Hi Kappe, i just want to make sure i know what you mean before i go ahead and do it.
You effectively want a "minimum duration" option. So that any spells which maximum duration is over this limit is not tracked.

I'm not sure what he meant either, but your (ori) suggestion sounds great to me.

hehe, i've had a further thought on that too, what about that its still tracked (if marked as active), but it only appears in the "normal" position, and never goes to "emphasise".
I'm having a few issues with SpellReminder at the moment.
1. When I'm in a raid with another shadow priest it refuses to track my dots once the other shadowpriest applies his dots. If there isn't two versions of the same dot up on the mob there's no issue. However, it makes the mod more or less useless at the moment for raiding, which is a shame.
2. The addon will occasionally bring up bars on misnamed mobs. I forgot to screenshot it, but last night I had two swps running at the same time while fighting Vashj. One was on "Lady Vashj", the other was on "Coilfang Matron" - which is Lady Vashj's title (says below her name like a guild tag). I've also had it bring up dots on mobs which are long gone.
Other than that the frequency with which you're updating is very encouraging. Keep up the good work! :)
i try to explain better. i'd like a *real* alert when my buffs are aboutto expire. for my buffs and debuffs tracking i'm using ebb. but it still not have reminders. so, when my trueshot aura is about to expire, i'd like to see a reminder. bars are good to see buffs i cast on others, like int buff on mana users, giving from my mage. this is usefull. but your mod is a kind of buff frame replacement, and i'd like to kill the display of buff i have.
so, any csuggestion?
bars for buff i cast, ok.
bars for buff i have, not ok.
reminders, ok. but need more customization. like a sound, or just a text message in errorframe or something.

Thats an interesting one, i'll have to check it out, it should track only the dot you place (the one you can see the duration for), any dot's placed by other players we're unable to track the time remaining, so they won't have bars.. obviously some bug existing there, i'll group up with my girlfriends priest and start planting dots!

Thats truly bizarre, Annoyingly i'm not guilded at the moment so i wont be able to get into SSC to try dotting her, i'll rush through some lowbie instances to try and find another boss with a similar "title".
If anyone knows of one off the top of their head i'd appreciate it if you drop a message in here. :)
A further thought to both of these issues, my current test version (which relies solely on aura changes) may in fact fix both of these problems. I'm in two minds whether to commit and just prepare for an "ear bashing", or whether to continue testing to see if i find any major problems with it in a working environment.

Hello again Kappe, thanks for clearing it up. SpellReminder will only track spells you cast, you will never get a bar from a spell that someone else has cast.
As for more customization, SpellReminder already displays an emphasised bar AND a text message in a frame of your choice (using SinkLib for text output), sounds will be implimented soon.
You can see some screenshots on the wiki page: http://www.wowace.com/wiki/SpellReminder
I'll post again when i've worked out whats causing these issues.
Cheers!

They might die a bit too fast, but most of the bosses in Deadmines have titles.
Hey Oridan, is there a way to disable bars from appearing for buffs that I cast on other players? I would like to only see buffs that I put on myself, and not buffs that I put on other players.

I've run through deadmines now and couldn't reproduce the double bar bug, so i'm assuming its because of the changes i'm testing. I'll commit them now and prepare myself for verbal torture :D (seriously though, it actually seems to work quite nicely.)

I could add some options "per spell" to show the bar for self and/or others (tickboxes). Does this sound reasonable to everyone?
The recent change to just monitor auras means seems to have made it so that I have to manually target someone after I've buffed them to get the timer for them... previously it would put a bar up the instant a spell is cast.
Also, and this happened with previous versions, if I cast blessing of wisdom on someone, and then switch to say, blessing of might, I get two bars, even though only one buff is active (and can be active).

yes, thats the downside of it, in my local testing i've found that, its very rare you buff someone who isnt in your raid group. As members of your raid group will always trigger a UNIT_AURA event when their buffs change, it should have little impact in an effective use situation. if this isnt the case, please let me know.

Ahhh yes, thanks for that, its an oversight on my part. I'll change the script to remove all non-existant bars. Thanks for the report :)

hrm, do you have any other addons which may be overriding the texture? some sort of skinner addon for textures perhaps?

i second that suggestion :)
- added option to select which text warnings to show
Both, Expiring Only, Expired Only.
If you want none, select "none" from the Output menu.
