Is there an option to make individual bars grow in the opposite direction? ie: Player bar grows normally, left-right, but target bar grows right-left? I can't seem to find it if it exists. If this feature isn't currently implemented, it is something I'd love to see in future editions if it's not too hard to add!
Aside from that, great mod, I can't live without it!
1. drag'n drop bars
2. test bars (so we don't have to cast a spell to move the bars all the times)
3. I see some function where you can move the text individually from the bar (thats a guess from what i read on the config) Adding a button that locks text and bar together
4. another nice feature that might be nice to have is a frame that can go around the entire bar setup (i saw something about frames there, but guessed that was for each individual bar)
5. I'd recommend taking a look at how the save/load function to wardrobe2 is made, make a profile setting that is something like that rather than the one existing (which refers to class spesific etc but rather confusing despite how many mods are using it)
6. A tutorial (with images!) might be handy if you decide that changing some of these are to hard.:)
1. Unlock the bar and you get a dummy bar which you can drag anywhere on your screen
2. see #1 ;)
3. I think that was just about latency or something - if you want the numbers in the bar or just outside of it...
4. Do you mean like a background behind the castbar, buff bars, etc? Just use an eePanel, imo. I have my bars all split up over the screen and don't even use the target/focus buff bars
5. The profile system in Quartz is the standard Ace2 profile system.
6. Here's the wiki if you haven't seen it yet: http://www.wowace.com/wiki/Quartz
Ok, well that answered most of my questions, as for the tutorial, well yes i have checked the wiki, but although it explains all the bars and such it doesnt give any decent description for the config menu itself (which is the tricky part) It justs shows what the different bars do but not all the sub configurations. (which is where the problem is)
Understand I don't know anything about programming addons, so forgive me if this is not possible or too difficult to implement:
Is there a way to make Quartz more modular, so its not a package, but individual parts. You see I only use the Player and Mirror bar, so whenever I update, I always end up deleting all the other modules. It would be much better if I could just choose not to download them in WAU rather than deleting every time I update.
It does come in separate parts. When WAU downloads it, it unpacks the modules into your AddOns folder. You can then disable those you don't use on your addon selection screen. If you don't use WAU to download, or have it set to not unpack packages, then run the batch file in your Quartz folder.
also, when you disable any of the modules in game they become LoD as far as i can tell, so they are not getting loaded into memory anyway. Well, they are LoD according to ACP. Am I correct in thinking that they do not get loaded into memory?

If they are disabled from the addons menu they are not LoD, they are then completely disabled for the character which has it disabled, but if its enabled for the character but keeps itself shut of while actually playing then i assume its saves and abundance of memory (meaning you don't really notice if its disabled form addon menu or not until its actually used) I do however believe that some memory is used for it because the game itself knows its enabled and has to know what to do if the player suddenly activate it.
Its like spies in a movie. They can be sleeper agents who only goes into action if the need is there. When they aren't active they are just staying on standby just doing what it does best, sleep.
The following error occurred yet again with r45703 during a Kara raid last night. Happened at a random time; no specifics remembered. But I've reported this same error earlier in this thread. USEnglish client/server 2.1.3:
"Quartz-0.1.0.38838\\Target\\Target.lua:425: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'oldStart' (a nil value)\n\n"
anyone know if the memory saved is all that noticeable from not loading the addon vs. it being LoD?
IMO anything that you typically use if you're logged in for more than 5-10 minutes doesn't really benefit from being LoD. This goes for any addon, not just Quartz modules. For example, the player cast bar -- if you get on your mount, it's loaded. Target cast bar -- even if you're just hanging out in Shattrath chatting, if you start clicking on people, chances are you're going to catch someone getting on their mount or making bandages. Tradeskill bar -- make a bandage? Loaded. Then there are entire addons, like Postal, that are invariably loaded within 30 seconds of my logging in, but that's another topic entirely. :P
Long story short, LoD is great for things like BigWigs zone modules, oRA2 tank frames, or battleground capture timers that you may not need right away or even at all in a given session... but for Quartz modules, unless there are parts you only use occasionally, there's no reason to run them LoD. You'll save a few KBs of memory on login, but 10-15 minutes later you'll have gained them all back.

thanks for the info Phanx. i was thinking more about the modules i have disabled. For example, I have pitbull esitmated heals and quartz buff bar disabled through their respective options. They are still LoD according to ACP. Would I save any memory by disabling them in the addon menu or not? I'm assuming that they are not loading at all into memory, but I'm not sure.
For me, LoD is more about speeding up login times than it is about saving memory. I have lots of memory. It's cheap. But it takes me a good, long while to get into the game as-is, and LoD modules help accelerate that, even if they end up loading 30 seconds after I'm logged in.
So there's definitely something to be saved with LoD modules beyond just memory.

No. The game treats LoD addons essentially the same as disabled addons, with the exception that an enabled LoD addon is loaded with LoadAddOn(), and a disabled LoD addon requires EnableAddOn() first and then LoadAddOn(). If they're not loaded yet, they're not taking up any memory, but Quartz will load them in the appropriate circumstances, whereas it won't load modules that are actually disabled.

I suppose. Although for me, most of the LoD stuff (Postal, Quartz_Player, Quartz_Target, Quartz_Tradeskill, etc) are loaded within 30 seconds of logging in anyway, each causing an annoying pause when they load. Personally I'd rather look at the loading screen for an extra five seconds than get that pause the first time I do everything. :P
Did a search but nothin came up, so I'll ask a question. I just started a mage and I wanna enable the gcd module, but I have no idea what spell to set for it. I'm not an herbalist/miner (which I was on my pally so it was easy) and that's all I know that I can use.
Arcane Intellect, Frost Armor, Ice Armor, Mage Armor, Amplify Magic, Dampen Magic, or any other instant cast spell with no cooldown. It doesn't have to be something that doesn't use mana.
Can someone make the swing timer work with off hand weapons too? Right now I'm using a main hand and off hand but it doesn't work at all. Only works if I wear the main hand only. =/
Would it be possible to add the Border support from SharedMedia?
Statusbar and font are working but not border.
It would be great if it could be added.
Also, if an option to set the target castbar border in the config window could be added, I can't seem to find an option to change it anywhere, maybe I'm just blind =P

I don't know if it's been asked, but... would it be possible to add a Pet Casting Bar? it'd be awesome!
Thank you, great addon.
